‘Young Sheldon’ Receives Double Season Renewal

While The Big Bang Theory bids adieu this year, its spin-off will be here for at least two more seasons. CBS gave Young Sheldon a double season renewal, bringing it to Season 3 & 4.

“Thanks to Chuck Lorre’s and Steve Molaro’s outstanding creative leadership, YOUNG SHELDON has been a powerful performer for the Network with an audience that towers over most of the television landscape,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. Added Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming: “The Coopers are portrayed by an amazing cast, and we are looking forward to having the gifted writing staff mine even more of Sheldon’s hilarious backstory and the warm family dynamic that has made this comedy a favorite with audiences for the past two seasons.”

Young Sheldon is television’s second most-watched comedy this season, only behind its predecessor, The Big Bang Theory. This season, it’s averaging north of 11 million weekly viewers and a 1.8 demo rating. With Live+7 DVR playback, it jumps to 15 million viewers and a 2.7 rating.

This isn’t the only Chuck Lorre sitcom to receive a two-season order. Just a couple of weeks ago, Mom did as well for Seasons 7 & 8. His bank account must be loaded AF 🙂

Great news, this show has a real charm and heart to it. I have been a HUGE fan of Annie Potts ever since her Designing Women days and she absolutely shines and steals the stage with her wise and worldly portrayal of Meemaw.
