If you watch The View, you’re fully aware Whoopi Goldberg has been missing in action for weeks now. At first, there was speculation she was away because she was busy preparing to host the 91st Academy Awards, even though it was mentioned she was battling pneumonia. Last Friday, the 63-year-old Oscar winner updated viewers on her status via video.
On Thursday’s show, as Joy Behar was giving an update on Goldberg’s return, Whoopi walked on set, surprising the audience and the panel. Immediately, her co-hosts jumped to their feet and ran over to hug Whoopi. Gotta admit, this made me a little misty. There sure is a lot of love and respect for Goldberg from her co-workers.
“The only way it’s going to get better is if I begin, so this is my beginning,” she told the co-hosts after surprising them while on-air Thursday.
Whoopi sat down for a bit to talk about her health and how difficult it was to deal with insurance. “One of the things I discovered, your insurance really doesn’t do much for you,” she stated. “Why is it I’ve been paying insurance for almost 60 years and it hasn’t rolled over? If you are paying into insurance, that money should roll over when you need it.”
