Two months after wrapping up its inaugural run as The Conners, ABC has renewed the Roseanne spinoff for Season 2 which will consist of 13 episodes, a bump from 11. Not really a surprise given the show’s ratings.
The Conners is the most-watched new sitcom of the season. It averaged 9.5 million viewers and a 2.2 rating in adults 18-49 (Live+7) and improved its time period by 33 percent in viewers and by 22 percent in the adult demo.
“We are proud to be continuing the story of the iconic Conners family. This team is fearless in their willingness to tackle contemporary issues with humor and heart, and I have no doubt they will continue to outdo themselves,” said ABC president Karey Burke.
According to Deadline, the main cast received hefty raises with some back-end compensation. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert will reportedly earn $375,000 an episode, up from $250,000 from the first. Meanwhile, Lecy Goranson will now pocket $165,000 per episode which is a double digit increase from last season. Michael Fishman, who plays D.J., hasn’t inked a deal yet but is expected to return, but not for all episodes of Season 2.
