‘Star Wars Episode IX’ Title Revealed & First Trailer Arrives

Every generation has a legend.

During the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago earlier today, director J.J. Abrams revealed the title of Episode IX of the popular sci-fi franchise. The movie will be called The Rise of Skywalker which is a tad ironic given the flick promises to be a conclusion to the Skywalker family saga.

“This movie, in addition to being the end of three trilogies, it also has to work as its own movie. It’s about this new generation and what they’ve inherited the light and the dark, and asking the question as they face the greatest evil, are they prepared? Are they ready?,” Abrams told the Chicago crowd.

For me, the best part of the trailer is seeing Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian again. Ever since the franchise relaunched years ago, fans have been hoping for the 82-year-old actor to return. They finally got their wish granted. He’s back and looking great.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrives December 20. Check out the trailer below which also features Carrie Fisher’s curtain call as General Organa. Unused earlier footage of her was incorporated into the film.
