NBC Renews ‘Manifest’ For Season Two

Two months after airing its Season 1 finale, NBC has finally decided the show’s fate. And it’s a good one for fans. The peacock network renewed the show for a sophomore run. No word on the episode count, but most likely it’ll be less than the first season.

“In just its first season, Manifest has answered many questions about the mystery of Flight 828 and, smartly, asks many more,” NBC execs Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta said in a joint statement. “Congratulations to Jeff Rake, our producers, cast and crew who have created an incredibly addictive series with compelling characters and complex relationships.”

Given that Manifest was the network’s top-rated freshman drama, you’d think the decision to bring it back would be an easy one. However, despite having a solid start, the drama hit turbulence towards the end of its 16-episode run.

Manifest premiered to 10.4 million total viewers and a 2.2 rating. Its average for Season 1 was 6.4 million and 1.25 rating. When Live+7 DVR playback is factored in, it adds an additional 6.1 million viewers and rises 1.61 rating points. That represents the biggest audience increase with viewers among any television program.
