For those Harmonizers looking forward to seeing Camila Cabello in the music video for her Major Lazer collaboration, “Know No Better,” they’ll be sorely disappointed. The 20-year-old singer only makes a brief cameo in the clip, as do the other featured artists, Quavo and Travis Scott. Instead, it’s a young boy who steals the spotlight. Read below to read director Philip Andelman explain the concept.
“I used to space out all through high school about being the sickest guitarist in the world to impress girls, but all I could play in real life was a quarter-speed version of Slash’s solo from ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine,'” he said. “I thought it could be fun to do a video that married a kid’s daydream of being a Major Lazer backup dancer (i.e. the ultimate goal for any dancer out there) with the reality of quotidian ass-kickings and unbearable siblings.”
Watch the bullied boy below win everyone over with his killer dance moves, including his crush. Overall, it’s a cute clip but I would’ve preferred a party backdrop with Camila busting out some saucy moves. Don’t you agree? Guess Major Lazer blew their entire video production on the Nicki Minaj-assisted “Run Up” clip. Weigh in below.
