Jesse Tyler Ferguson has finally made an honest man out of Justin Mikita. The Modern Family star wed his attorney boyfriend of two years in New York over the weekend. The couple announced their engagement last September. Ferguson is just the latest gay celebrity to tie the knot in the past month. John Barrowman married his longtime partner and the Fabulous Beekman Boys also made it official.
According to Us Weekly, the pair had over 200 guests at their reception, including Ferguson’s co-stars Julie Bowen, Ty Burell and Eric Stonestreet, as well as pals Jerry O’ Connell, Rebecca Romijn, Zachary Quinto, Isaac Mizrahi, Arnold Germer, Nigel Barker, Cat Deely, Mary Murphy, Tyce Diorio, and Padma Lakshmi. Playwright Tony Kushner officiated the ceremony. In lieu of wedding gifts, Ferguson and Mikita asked that guests donate to the marriage equality charity Tie The Knot, to help other same-sex couples win equal rights in their states.
When asked why the California-based couple picked New York as their wedding location, the 37-year-old actor revealed on The View June 27. “It wasn’t legal in California up until yesterday. We wanted to give that money to a state that accepted us as an equal. We’re too far down the planning path to change.”
Congrats to the happy couple. Which gay celebrity do you think is next to walk down the aisle? Give your predictions below.
