Looks like “Glee” is rubbing off on the doctors of Seattle Grace. On the March 31st episode of “Grey’s Anatomy“, the bulk of the cast will be showing off their vocal pipes. The episode will be Callie-centric and, according to Shonda Rhimes, would’ve happened even if Sara Ramirez could sing. I’m sure the fact Ramirez is a Tony Award winning actress doesn’t hurt either.
“It’s an amazing opportunity… Singing runs in my family; it’s something I embrace about myself. I’ve been nothing but thrilled and excited to come to work and play a character that I love and portray a journey that I’m just really excited to portray.” – Sara Ramirez
So what can we expect from the musical episode. Rhimes promises it won’t be like “Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s” Broadway-esque episode. Instead, the singing make sense and that the cast isn’t just singing for no reason. Ramirez and the cast will be covering songs that have become synonymous with the show.
Kevin McKidd (Owen), Chandra Wilson (Bailey) and Ramirez will helm Snow Patrol’s hit song, “Chasing Cars“. Other songs making the episode include Anna Nalick’s “Breathe (2AM)” covered by Chyler Leigh (Lexie) and The Fray’s “How To Save A Life” and much more. Behind The Scenes: Grey’s Anatomy Musical Episode
What’s your take Grey’s upcoming musical episode? Are they jumping the shark by trying to capitalize on Glee’s success? I’m glad Scott Foley looks like he’ll still be on the show for the next month. I’m really liking him on the show and want Teddy and him to do the horizontal mambo stat. Besides Ramirez, who do you think will impress with their vocal styling?
