Since the untimely death of George Michael, I’ve been revisiting several of his classic tracks. It appears I’m not alone. Spotify reports streams of his music has surged 3,158% since then. “Last Christmas” tops the list in popular songs, followed by “Careless Whisper,” “Faith,” “Freedom! ’90” and “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.”
As a result of all the nostalgia, the late singer could stand to see up to $10 million over the next two years in the wake of his death, according to industry experts. His estimated estate value reportedly already stands at $125 million.
For those looking for new music from Michael. Rumor has it, he has three albums’ worth of unreleased songs in his vault. One of those previously unreleased tracks was shared by his boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, recently via social media with the caption, “My baby.”
“This Kind of Love” is reportedly off an album titled, Trojan Souls, which never saw the light of day due to label red tape. Sir Elton John allegedly had a hand in co-writing the track in the ’90s. Give it a listen below.
