Camila Cabello continues to prove that leaving Fifth Harmony was a wise decision. With “Havana,” the 20-year-old singer scored a No. 2 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. 5H’s highest-charting single to date is “Work From Home” which peaked at No. 4. She’s once again bested her former group with a huge career milestone.
Cabello debuts in pole position on the Billboard 200 chart. According to the publication, it earned 119,000 equivalent album units with 65,000 of those in traditional album sales. The number is stronger than what most industry insiders expected. The Greatest Showman soundtrack ruled the chart the past two weeks and was expected to clock a third one. The soundtrack did beat Camila in traditional sales (70,000 vs 65,000) but lagged behind in streaming numbers.
“MY ALBUM IS NUMBER 1 ON BILLBOARD HOT 200!” she tweeted on Sunday (January 21). “IM CRYING ON THE STREET.”
Cabello is the first woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her debut full-length album in three years – since Meghan Trainor’s Title opened atop the list dated Jan. 31, 2015. Coincidentally, both ladies are on Epic Records. Congrats to Camila.
