Ariana Grande Talks Billboard Record-Breaking Week & Tying The Beatles

In case you missed the memo, Ariana Grande is the new undisputed princess of pop. The 25-year-old singer has gone where no woman has before.

Ari is the first artist since The Beatles to claim the top three spots on the Billboard Hot 100. Grande’s singles “7 Rings,” “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” and “Thank U, Next” sit at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 respectively on the charts. The last time this happened was when the Fab 4 owned all top 5 spots back in 1964. Not only is she the first woman to achieve this, but first soloist.

When the parameters are expanded to the Top 5, only four other acts have placed at least three hits in the top five simultaneously. The Beatles, as mentioned previously, and 50 Cent (2005), Justin Bieber (2015-16) and Drake (2018).

No doubt Grande’s feat was buoyed by the fact her fifth studio album, Thank U, Next, arrived recently. It bowed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart, moving 360,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. All twelve tracks charted on the Hot 100 including Needy” at No. 14, “NASA”at No. 17 and “Bloodline” entering at No. 22.

Ariana quickly stopped by The Late Late Show to discus her record-breaking achievement. James Corden even helped her celebrate by surprising her with a special cake. Watch below.
