Did Magneto Assassinate John F. Kennedy?

In: Donovan, Movies
x-men-jfk-assassination

Conspiracy theories have surrounded the assassination of John F. Kennedy for years. Many have believed Lee Harvey Oswald didn’t act on his own. As it turns out, perhaps he didn’t.

In a brilliant new promo for X-Men Days of Future Past, Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto is implicated in a mutant plot to kill the President. It’s wise for the studio to jump on the JFK bandwagon. Memorials for the 35th president of the United States have been everywhere for the 50th anniversary of his death.

If the mutant theory intrigues you, be sure to go to the website TheBentBullet.com. There, you’ll see an assortment of faux documents, articles and interviews substantiating Magneto and other mutants’ involvement with that fateful day in Dallas. Check out the video below.

After teasing us last week, Marvel finally shelled out the goods. At long last, the first full-length movie trailer for the highly anticipated sequel-prequel is here. And it’s everything I’d hope it would be.

The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves in an epic battle that must change the past– to save their future. Watching Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin and Ian McKellan in the same film is going to be phenomenal. To boot, several new faces join the franchise including Booboo Stewart (Warpath), Adan Canto (Sunspot), Fan Bingbing (Blink), Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and Lucas Till (Havok). Check out the X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer below.

I’m a sucker for eye-catching promotional material and whoever came up with these promotional posters for X-Men Days Of Future deserves a raise. Entertainment Weekly gives fans the first look at the wicked creative.

Superhero flicks have often played on the theme of duality. You know, Bruce Wayne/Batman, Clark Kent/Superman, Peter Parker/Spider-man… the list goes on. In all of those instances, it’s usually one actor playing both roles. Since the upcoming X-Men flick spans decades, two high-profile actors are splitting the work and tackling younger and older versions of some of the film’s main players.

In the newly-debuted posters, Professor X and Magneto are front and center. Check out the fantastic artwork featuring Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy melded as the former, while Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender are mashed up as the latter. Check them out below.

Just when I thought X-Men Days of Future Past casting was complete, Bryan Singer throws a curve ball. The 47-year-old director announced via Twitter that Quicksilver, the speedy son of Magneto, will make an appearance in the highly-anticipated sequel.

“Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver.” – Bryan Singer’s Twitter

The interesting part of this news is not who’s playing Quicksilver, but rather the addition of the character in the film. Just recently, Joss Whedon announced Quicksilver and his twin sister Scarlet Witch were part of his plans for The Avengers sequel.

To give a bit of a background, Magneto’s offspring are mutants. Since FOX owns the X-Men franchise, fans were worried that their inclusion to Disney-owned Avengers franchise might not happen due to legal issues. But since Whedon announced their inclusion, everything seemed fine.

I can’t help but think Singer adding Quicksilver this late in the game is a way to thwart The Avengers because they had no legal leg to stand on to prevent the characters’ appearance in Whedon’s film. Perhaps I’m reading too much into this, but my Spidey-sense tells me otherwise.

If you’re a fan of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, you’re in luck. After a few weeks of speculation, Joss Whedon has confirmed that the twin brother-sister combo will appear in The Avengers 2. Fans were worried that their inclusion might not happen due to legal issues. The characters are mutants and the offspring of Magneto. Since FOX owns the X-Men franchise, ergo the dilemma. In the end, all seems copacetic.

“You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.” – Joss Whedon to IGN

For those who aren’t familiar with the siblings, here’s a quick rundown. Quicksilver aka Pietro Maximoff has the power of speed, while Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff can cast hexes which manipulate probability and alter reality. No actors are attached to the roles, but Saoirse Ronan has been rumored to be the prototype for Scarlet Witch. In other Avengers-related news, Whedon addressed the possibility of Robert Downey Jr. joining The Avengers sequel. Keep reading to find out.

Which Following Actor Is The Next X-Men Mutant?

In: Donovan, Movies

The already huge X-Men: Days of Future Past cast is getting even bigger. On the heels of the first look at Halle Berry as Storm, director Bryan Singer’s Twitter account revealed another casting addition. While attending a Montreal Canadiens hockey game, a picture of Shawn Ashmore, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart and Singer wearing personalized jerseys was taken. Included in the bunch was this Following actor. Find out who below.

It’s been several years since Halle Berry played Ororo Munroe aka Storm on screen. The 46-year-old actress isn’t let a little thing called pregnancy stop her from playing the superhero once again for X-Men: Days of Future Past. That said, Berry did mention in an earlier interview that most likely a stunt double would take on more of the physical parts and the costume probably needed altering in a few places.

The film’s director Bryan Singer tweeted a photo on Monday (April 22) along with the caption, “Storm watch #HalleBerry #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast”. Get your first look at Berry’s fourth turn as the Marvel Comics heroine below. Pregnant or not, Halle is still pretty bad-ass. Check it out below.
