Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult play younger versions of Mystique, Magneto, Professor X and Beast respectively in new X-Men trilogy. When X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters in 2016 expect to see more of your favorite mutants when they were much younger.

Director Bryan Singer just announced via Twitter the three fresh-faced thespians playing Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey played previously by Halle Berry, James Marsden and Famke Janssen. Find out who below.

It’s official!!! Bryan Singer is on board to direct X-Men: Apocalypse, scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2016. There was doubt that a lawsuit filed by Michael Egan claiming sexual abuse would threaten the 49-year-old director’s participation in the film. With Egan dropping the lawsuit last month, Singer is free and clear to direct the highly-anticipated sequel.

Singer helmed the first two X-Men films of the original franchise and returned to direct X-Men: Days of Future Past. The latter is the most successful one in the franchise’s history with a worldwide gross of $746 million. Production on X-Men: Apocalypse will begin early next year. Are you excited Bryan is back? Sound off below.

Director Bryan Singer previously revealed X-Men: Apocalypse would be more of a sequel to 2011′s X-Men: First Class. Screenwriter Simon Kinberg recently echoed Singer’s sentiment, adding the upcoming film would focus primarily on the First Class cast. Having said that, Kinberg confirmed fans’ speculation which arose following the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Expect to see more familiar faces from the original trilogy. Don’t proceed if you haven’t watched the latest film yet.

Movie Review: X-Men: Days Of Future Past

In: Matt, Movies

The latest installment in the X-Men franchise hits theatres today. While I can’t claim to be an expert on the X-Men franchise, I’ve seen all the films in the series and can comfortably say that this might be my personal favorite. In its best moments it’s crazy fun, exciting with strong moments of emotion supported by a wildly talented cast.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past opens in a dark future. The war has devastated the world of both humans and mutants alike. The Sentinels, who seek out to destroy the last remaining mutants, patrol the world. In a last ditch effort to save themselves, and the world, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is sent back in time (or rather, his consciousness is sent back) to persuade Magneto (Patrick Stewart/Michael Fassbender) and Xavier (Gandalf/James McAvoy) to join him in preventing Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) from murdering scientist Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage). Her assassination of Trask is what initially garners support for the Sentinel program, which also uses her DNA to allow the Sentinels to adapt and mimic any mutant power.

Channing Tatum Confirmed To Join X-Men Franchise

In: Donovan, Movies

After months of speculation, it’s official. Channing Tatum has been tapped to play the Ragin’ Cajun, Gambit. Better start perfecting that Southern accent Mr Tatum ;)

Producer Lauren Sculer-Donner confirmed the news to Total Film while promoting X-Men: Days of Future Past. Sorry Taylor Kitsch, you’ve been replaced. As you recall, Kitsch made a brief appearance as the mutant in the first Wolverine flick.

It’s not clear if Gambit will have his own stand-alone movie or if he’ll pop up in X-Men: Apocalypse. With Tatum on board, I expect he wouldn’t just sign on for a bit part. I’m thinking he might make a cameo in the next X-Men film which will lead to his own franchise.

Check out Shuler-Donner’s interview below to find out what other X-Men characters they’re interested in bringing to the big screen next.

Chances are you’ve probably already seen this. After all The Amazing Spider-Man 2 did a whopping $92 million at the box office this past weekend. If you didn’t stick around for the end credits, however, you might’ve missed this little X-Men gem. Jennifer Lawrence kicks butt as Mystique to save some fellow mutants in this surprise X-Men: Days of Future Past clip.

Normally, airing clips for other movies are a signature thing Marvel Studios does. According to Variety, director Marc Webb had an existing contract with Fox Searchlight to direct an upcoming movie and the only way that the studio would let him direct The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Sony was to include the scene in the film for free. Gotta love some savvy wheeling and dealing. Check out the clip below.

Back in December, Bryan Singer shared the crushing news that Anna Paquin’s part in X-Men: Days of Future Past was cut from the film. That sent shockwaves among hardcore comic geeks. Here’s what the 48-year-old director said at the time.

“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,” Singer says. “It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in — the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”

Apparently, that’s now all changed. In the film’s third trailer, which was recently released, Paquin’s name now appears in the credits. A rep for 20th Century Fox confirmed to Buzzfeed that she will, in fact, be in the flick. Don’t get your hopes up too high though. The rep added, “Essentially, [it’s] a cameo.” BOO!!!

Check out the latest trailer below which gives a more in-depth look at Wolverine’s journey to the future to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. It also gives a better look at Quicksilver and the other newly-added mutants. It’s the best trailer yet.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past: 25 Key Historic Moments

In: Donovan, Movies

Before X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23, here’s a little assignment in the form of a fun interactive widget. No one likes homework, especially history but these are fun little lessons. I promise.

In an effort to bridge the gap from when X-Men First Class took place in 1962 to the dystopian world where the new film transpires, FOX shares 25 key historical events in the struggle between mutants and humans that led to the state of affairs in 2018.

Warning, there are some slightly spoilerish items about some of the characters. For instance how Colossus came to be. Let’s just say it involves a real-life nuclear disaster. Proceed with caution.
