This December, I fell in love with a music duo that has been makin’ me Swoon ever since I listened to their latest EP. Timeflies is a genre-bending talent originally hailing from New York and New Jersey but fully got their start in Boston. In fall 2011, the duo released their first album, The Scotch Tape and out of nowhere, flew to #8 on the overall iTunes chart and peaked at #2 on iTunes pop chart. Vanity Fair even named the duo “musical masterminds”.
Timeflies consists of Rob ‘Rez’ Resnick and Cal Shapiro. Rez majored in music and philosophy in school and got an early start in music production while DJing and playing in various bands. He connected with Cal, a singer and free styler rapper. The rest is musical history with an album, a mixtape and EP under their belts, there’s no telling where these boys are gonna end up in this coming year.
Two weeks ago, I downloaded their EP One Night and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it. I thought I would include my favorite stand-out tracks below for you to check out. If you like what you hear, download the EP on iTunes.
Flo Rida has been pumping out the hits lately in anticipation of his upcoming album “Wild Ones” hitting stores and iTunes on July 3. I have always been a fan of Flo’s. His ability to make me dance with his amazing hooks and beats has become quite predictable. When I see a new track from him, I know it’ll be added immediately to my latest playlist. It seems that Flo’s hit formula is one part old school jam, one part slick dance beat and one part sexy rap. And then ta-dah, you have a bangin’ track.
In this newest summer jam titled “Let It Roll,” Flo Rida samples Freddie King’s 1974 tune “Let The Good Times Roll” which is sure to have the clubs singing along just as they did on “Good Feeling.” With all of the amazing singles that Flo has shared with us from his new album, I cannot wait to hear the whole disc. Give a listen to “Let It Roll” below.
I feel like we just heard new Flo Rida when he sampled Avicii’s hit track Levels to produce his massive club hit Good Feelin’. Now, a new song has hit the web featuring the new dance music it-girl Sia. Just to put it into perspective, DJ and producer David Guetta had both Sia and Mary J. Blige record vocals for the track Titanium and in the end chose Sia over the R&B diva.
The new track is the second single from Flo Rida’s upcoming 2012 album Only One Rida: Part Two. This album is the sequel to 2011’s predecessor Only One Flo: Part One. The first part of the album duo produced some massive hits for the rapper and I’m sure that part two will do exactly the same thing if the two lead-off tracks are any indication of what’s to come.
In the new track Wild Ones, Sia’s smooth vocals ring out singing, “hey I heard you were a wild one. If I took you home it’d be a homerun.” Amazing. Flo’s rhythmical rap fits perfectly in the beat and melody track quite reminiscent of his single with Akon titled Who Dat Girl. The song is very radio friendly and sure to be heard all over the nation. The track is available of download on December 20. Give it a listen below.
