Trash Pop pioneer, Ke$ha, released her second full-length album, Warrior, today. Either this girl hasn’t been showing us her full abilities on previous releases or she has been saving it for the ever so important sophomore album because she just KILLS IT here. Whether you love her or hate her, this once thought one trick pony has had staying power, and doesn’t seem to show signs of stopping.
Like any true warrior, this album adapts itself multiple times, changing form, jumping high, ducking down, taking it slow, and aggressively attacking. Because of this, it’s impossible to classify this album under one genre other than the large pop umbrella. Ke$ha uses her talent for songwriting (she was an accomplished songwriter before her solo album), to explore a myriad of influences resulting in a pop music masterpiece. Who knew this late entry could be a serious contender for pop album of the year?

It’s hard to believe that it has almost been 2 years since Ke$ha officially released some new music. Finally, the wait is over and her new album, Warrior will hit shelves on December 4. In an official press release, Ke$ha said, “I am so excited to finally share WARRIOR with all of my amazing ANIMALS. I’ve been working for a year on this new record and have collaborated with some of my idols. This process has been long and intense and I couldn’t be more stoked to share this music. I hope with WARRIOR my fans get to know me in a much more raw and vulnerable way.”
Ke$ha’s new album will feature collaborations with her usual hit making partner-in-crime, Dr. Luke, along with Benny Blanco, Sia, The Flaming Lips and hit song writer, Bonnie McKee. The other day, Patrick gave us a video tease of her new song Die Young which Ke$ha sang a cappella in a Tokyo subway station. The single will be officially released this coming Tuesday and I personally cannot wait to jam out to some Ke$ha again. Check out the track list for the new album after the jump.

After three consecutive weeks sitting on top, “The Help” finally let go of its grip on the box office. Still, the film managed to earn a few accolades during its reign. The film stayed at No. 1 for 25 days in a row which was the longest uninterrupted streak since “The Sixth Sense” achieved 35 straight days. The Emma Stone starrer also became the first film of 2011 to top the box office three straight weeks and the last since “Inception”. Not too shabby for the little film that could. With already $130 million raked in, I’m sure the studio which spent only $25 million to produce the film is laughing all the way to the bank.
Supplanting “The Help” at the box office was Steven Soderbergh’s thriller “Contagion“. The film starring Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon took in a respectable $23 million in a relatively slow weekend. The other two offerings this week didn’t far as well as “Contagion”.
“Warrior” starring Tom Hardy stalled at third place with a $5.6 million take. As low as that number is, it was lightyears ahead of “Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star“. The Adam Sandler-produced film didn’t even crack the Top 10 and earned a disappointing $1.5 million which is roughly $10,000 per screen. Ouch. Overall, this weekend’s box office was down 20 percent from last year when “Resident Evil: Afterlife” earned top honors. Check out this week’s Top 10 results below.
“Warrior” starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton doesn’t open til September 9th, but you can be one of the lucky ones to check it out before. Hollywood hottie Tom Hardy was in Paris, France today promoting his new film, “Warrior” at the Bristol Hotel on Monday. The film is about an ex-Marine who goes home for the first time in over a ten years to to have his father help him train for a martial arts tournament.
More recently, the 33 year old has bulked up for his role in The Dark Knight Rises where he’ll be playing Bane. The film will star Anne Hathaway as Catwoman/Selena Kyle and Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, among the other A-list actors in the film.
Several months ago, Hardy talked about his concern with having to gain all the weight needed for the role in such a short period of time:
“I’ve got to get up to about 189lbs or 196lbs. I’m 168lbs-and-a-bit now and we start shooting in May so I’ve got only three months to bulk up, it’s a lot of fat and trickery.”
Well, he DEFINITELY succeeeded in gaining weight. He also shaved his head. Check out his new Vin Diesel-look below and let me know what you think…
There is no doubt that Tom Hardy is on everyone’s wish list. His brooding look and hunk of a body is sure to make him the prime spot as any leading man. With that said, I am more than looking forward to see Hardy play Tom Conlon.
In a story and screenplay by Gavin O’Connor, Cliff Dorfman and Anthony Tambakis, Warrior tells the story of the youngest son (Tom Hardy) of an alcoholic former boxer (Nick Nolte) returning home, where he’s trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament – a path that puts the fighter on a collision course with his older brother (Joel Edgerton).
The trailer looks a little Fighter-esque but I do really want to check this out. Even though the concept isn’t the freshest, I think the acting line up should speak for itself showing that it may be a contender blockbuster this coming fall. Not to mention, Joel and Tom look pretty good shirtless with just their shorts on… am I right?
