Absolutely brilliant. WestJet’s “Christmas Miracle” clip which debuted December 8th has amassed over 29 million views to date and counting. If you haven’t seen it yet, you simply must. For those who have, why not watch it again.
As passengers waited for a flight at Toronto Pearson International Airport and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, they were asked what their Christmas wish was from Santa Claus himself. During their flights, about 150 WestJet employees headed to Best Buy and other stores to purchase gifts and then wrap them up before the flights landed. While passengers waited for their luggage at baggage claim, wrapped gifts came down the carousel instead. Watching some of their reactions are truly priceless. They’re almost as funny as Oprah’s studio audience during her favorite things specials.
WestJet Vice President of Communications Richard Bartrem told Forbes that making this video was relatively cheap. “For a traditional commercial, you could spend well into the mid-six figures for the production alone,” he says, adding that this clip, brilliantly conceived by studio m, was “a mere fraction” of that. Lesson here is, if you ever see a giant box, always go up to it. You never know. Oh and I guess, the message of giving is also the takeaway ;)
Not going to lie. This is absolutely ridiculous, but just like roadkill or a car accident, everyone slows down and takes a peek. Well, this is your YouTube version of that. Who doesn’t want to watch a bunch of boys singing about washing from their ball sacks to their cracks? There are definitely a few cringeworthy and “did they just say that?” moments, but it’s perfect lazy Saturday viewing. Check it out below.
A couple of days ago, I shared a clip by Marina Shifrin where she gave the most epic job resignation. Frustrated with her boss, Shifrin executed an interpretive dance to Kanye West’s “Gone” which went viral, amassing over 11 million views as of publish time. As they say, everything happens for a reason. Queen Latifah not only invited Marina to her show, but also offered her a job as digital content product, a job she created specifically for her. Not too shabby.
Meanwhile half way across the world in Taiwan, her previous employer Next Media Animation filmed a video response to Shifrin’s original clip. He appears in the clip with his “happy” staff, showing the perks of working there. In addition, he declares they’re hiring and gives instructions on how to apply. Just in case you’re wondering, he’s not bitter about being the subject of Marina’s clip and he wishes her well. Check out Shifrin’s appearance on Latifah’s show and her previous boss’ video response below.
We’ve all given our notice before, but I’m sure never in this fashion. Marina Shifrin’s job required to film high generating-viewed videos. Ironically, her latest creation has become arguably her biggest viral video. At last count, it’s amassed over three million views simply by leaving her current occupation. She taped herself dancing to Kanye West’s “Gone” as she explained her frustrations with her previous employer.
I’m curious to know if this thing is actually real, or simply another faux clip. If 100% genuine, two snaps for having the guts to do it. With that being said, I’m sure one day this vid will haunt her. Don’t you think? Check out her epic job resignation below.
All hail Jimmy Kimmel. The late night talk show host can execute a prank like no other. Late last week, a girl calling herself Caitlin Heller uploaded a video on YouTube that went viral. In the clip, she caught on fire after a twerking mishap. Millions viewed it and numerous media outlets showed it on their respective telecast.
As it turns out, the woman is a stuntwoman named Daphne Avalon and Kimmel was the mastermind behind it all. He made the juicy revelation on his show last night via a director’s cut of the clip. Watch the reveal below.
Call me a freak, but I found this so adorkable, I simply had to share it with you. I wish I had the foresight to do something similar ten years ago. I’m a nerd that way.
Tyler Marcum, a media sales planner, back in the day performed an interpretive dance to Dixie Chicks’ “Landslide” in his college bedroom. Naturally, being 20-years-old, he executed his routine in his underwear. Fast forward ten years later, he’s doing it all over again. To celebrate his 30th birthday, Marcum decided to revisit his dance and film an encore performance side-by-side his college version. Watch him attempt to recreate every move below.
I spent Christmas in Hawaii this year and one of the things I wanted to do but didn’t get around to was shark cage diving. I’m deathly afraid of sharks, but have always been equally fascinated by them ever since I was a kid. I was obsessed with Baywatch and Jaws movies. I actually randomly ended up getting a shark tattoo on my left shoulder while I was there. Anyway, after watching this video – I’m not so sure shark cage diving is for me.
While vacationing in Gansbaai, South Africa, a man named Bryan Plummer decided to go shark cave diving with friends. He filmed as his recently married friend Roger was in the cage and instead of the shark going for the bait, he went for Roger and it was caught on video. Here’s what Plummer had to say about the incident:
“I went shark diving March 21st, 2013 for the first time in Gansbaai, South Africa with my sister Leanne Plummer and best friends Peter Lipscombe, Richard Lipscombe and Monica Kronfli .. and managed to catch this on film!! A shark totally ignores the bait and goes straight for the cage!! He gets his head inside the cage, while fellow diver Roger (who got married the day before), acted quickly to swim below the gaping sharks mouth and to avoid any injury. Apologies for any profanity in the video.. it was an out of control situation.”
The video was just uploaded a few days ago and has gone viral, with almost two million views already. Watch the video below and maybe think twice about shark cage diving.
It’s safe to say that the Harlem Shake YouTube trend is over now. These things come and go so quickly (which is a good thing). That being said, earlier this week I came across a video of kids reacting to Harlem Shake videos and thought it was worth sharing.
Kids have absolutely no filter and they say exactly what’s on their minds… so you can imagine their reactions and they things they say when they see grown ups dancing around like weirdos in these viral Harlem Shake videos.
Watch the video below and although I was super into all of the videos when it was a thing, I’m ready to give it all a rest after this. Enjoy!
