It was getting pretty depressing for a while there when we were barely getting the nice sunny weekends and this past week has been amazing. I really love Summer in Vancouver because there’s just no place like it. Not only do we live in the most beautiful place on earth but we’re also surrounded by beautiful people. It’s funny though because they seem to all come out in the Summer… which makes me wonder, “Where are these beautiful people in the Winter?”
Summer for me is when I come alive and I’m the most social. Going out on a weekday drinking refreshments on a patio downtown somewhere with friends and not a care in the world, even if I have to be up at 7am the next day for work. I also love lazy Summer weekends where you just let the day unfold on its own and just pause and watch life go by. Sometimes we forget and get lost in our surroundings from going about our daily routines. Having been deprived of sunlight & vitamin D all Winter, people, including me are generally in a happier disposition in the Summer. So, go out there and enjoy life because it’s too beautiful and short to take for granted!
Summer is here and it’s time to get outside and take advantage of the beautiful weather, when we have it! I myself have been trying to do the same because before you know it, fall will be upon us. Now, we can always go for a run, hit the beach, or enjoy a beer on a patio, but why not try something different. Go kayaking! And, YES – that photo above is of me HERE in Vancouver! Amazing view, huh!?
I think kayaking is one of those things that sort of sounds more extreme than it is. River kayaking is of course very different than ocean kayaking, so I thought I’d address that first. Although I found it to be a great upper body workout, it is still very easy for someone to do, as you can go as far or as fast as you want. There’s something to be said for drifting away from land on your own boat when you live in a metropolitan area. It allows you to get back to mother nature, appreciate the peacefulness of the ocean with each stroke of the paddle, and take in the beauty of your city which we all take for granted.
A great place to rent a kayak in Vancouver is Ecomarine Ocean Kayak Centre. They offer rentals, guided tours, and lessons – all at very affordable prices! They even have stand up paddling, which I’m definitely going to try out soon as well! They are very accessible with three locations: Granville Island, English Bay, and Jericho Beach. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, making you feel very safe & ready for your venture out into the sea. Reservations are recommended, so check out Ecomarine.com for more details and contact information. Highly recommended. Next up, Stand Up Paddling! I’ll tell you all about it.
Check out the video of my experience kayaking, along with my boyfriend Tyrell.
Now that summer is officially here, it’s important to make sure that you’re prepared for all of that activities your going to be doing as you take advantage of the great weather: Running, hiking, biking, etc. If you’re not used to all the exercise, you may end up sore or worse – injured.
This week’s fitness tip is about preparing your lower body for the summer. An easy routine you can do anywhere – inside or outside.

Summer is upon us and while some of the cast celebrated Pride in Seattle last weekend, a few of us went to Donovan & Brian’s for a fun evening on their roof top patio. There’s nothing like having some barbeque with some refreshing beverages in the early evening sun, enjoying hilarious stories mixed with stories from each of our week.
In this first video, you’ll see Donovan, Brian, Rich, Redd, Jonny, his boyfriend Kody, my boyfriend Tyrell, Nic’s boyfriend Tyler, and our friend Joel. Stephen came by later with some of our other friends, but it was apparently after I had turned the camera off for the night. You’ll also find out who in the Homorazzi cast is a “Bear Pusher.”
In the second video, after us each having several “drinks,” the night gets crazy with an all out drunken dance party slash walk off. Enjoy – I sure did! Haha.
MTV is searching for their next reality show. They’ve asked people from coast to coast to submit their stories and videos of why they feel they’d make an interesting online reality show. Well, we figured our journey so far has been an interesting one, and there’s much more to come.
A group of gays start a website called Homorazzi.com – Where Homos Judge Everything. From celebrity interviews to red carpet events, watch their journey unfold as they try and make it into something big. Will Patrick and Donovan be able to mix business with pleasure? Will love and friendships last, or will their be casualties along the way?
Check out the video below! If you find the link to the profile on casting.mtv.ca, please post it as a comment as we can’t seem to find it! Haha.

One of the most important things you can do with your workout routine is try new things and keep it interesting for yourself. Otherwise, you’ll get bored and fall of the wagon – speaking from experience.

If you go out in the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise. If you go out in the woods today, you’d better go in disguise. For every bear that ever there was will gather there for certain, because today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic!
That’s right boys, on Sunday July 4th, 2010, Vancouver is all about the bears, otters, wolves, and their little friends having some fun for a fantastic cause. There are three events… The Gingerbear’s Brunch, Camp Poke-a-Bear, and Cub-a-Licious. After all the hairy frivolity, a whole bunch of money will have been raised for Camp Moomba and its efforts to send children affected by HIV/AIDS to summer camp. How awesome is that!
So here are the deets.

Sometimes you just don’t have time to hit the gym, or you’re just not able to make it there. Maybe you’re on the road for work, maybe on vacation. Or, maybe it’s just really nice out and you’d like to get some fresh air while you work out. In this week’s fitness tip, Mike talks to you about an easy to remember workout that you’ll be able to do just about anywhere.
Here’s the breakdown:
Repeat 4 times – or as many times as you can…
