On your typical cycle, this stage of America’s Next Top Model is the most crucial. It’s the week before the overseas trip. Who doesn’t want a free trip to some exotic location? For Cycle 19 it’s doubly important. Not only will one girl miss out on the trip, but we find out which of the eliminated girls is coming back based on public votes. I swear, if anyone else but Leila Goldkuhl returns, I’ll be pissed.
On the next episode, the girls partake in a little cell block tango for a prison-themed photo shoot. It’s time for glamorous mugshots. Based on the pictures, I’m predicting a Kristin Kagay boot and a first call out for Laura James. Check out the pictures below and in our gallery, and see if you agree. Plus, post your predictions on who you think is reentering the competition.
While last week’s elimination wasn’t a shocker, Yvonne’s head-to-head bitch-off with Bryanboy was. I never would’ve expected the fiercely real model would be the one to argue with one of Tyra’s minions. I would’ve bet the farm on either Kristin or Kiara. Regardless, I’m glad Yvonne is outta there.
Last week, the girls posed with a cranky owl for Mike Ruiz. This time around, the remaining wannabes are snapped by an equally studly photographer- Douglas Friedman. This porn’ stached hottie has the final seven channeling their inner party girl after a night of hard boozing. See which girls give a new meaning to wasted chic and who serves as inspiration for this week’s episode title. Believe it or not, a girl actually gets on all fours and licks the floor. EWWWWW. Check out this week’s backstage photos below. If you want to see the eliminated girl’s “comeback” photos, click the link at the of the article.
Is it me, or does America’s Next Top Model Cycle 19 seem like it’s flying by? I can’t believe we’re already down to eight girls. The overseas trip to Jamaica is just around the corner. How many of you are still shocked that Leila Goldkuhl was eliminated last episode? I’m literally still trying to pick up my jaw off the ground. I thought she was a shoo-in for the Final 4. With Leila now participating in the “comeback” portion of the show, chances of her returning are pretty good. I thought Jessie had the best chance of re-entering the competition prior to Leila’s elimination. Oh well, at least she’ll always have the distinction of being the first one voted off ;)
If you’ve been underwhelmed by the photo shoots up to this point, don’t fret. Photographer Mike Ruiz is here to save the day. The second I saw the owl steampunking Harry Potter-esque photos, I knew they were snapped by him. You can definitely tell his style. Check out all the backstage candid pics and official photos below. Try to correctly predict this week’s FCO (first call out) and eliminated girl in the comments section. If you want to check out all the photos, including the eliminated girls, be sure to check out my post back in June.
Anyone surprised by Destiny Strudwick’s ouster on America’s Next Top Model’s last episode? While she was a gorgeous girl, her looks never really translated to fashion model. Before she left though, I was hoping she’d clock Kristin a couple of times. The blond self-proclaimed recovered ‘mean girl’ definitely isn’t letting her former persona die just yet. She’s definitely still has a chip and bitchy attitude on her shoulders. Hope she gets a Tiffany-type talking to from Tyra real soon. Remember that infamous ANTM moment?
This week, the remaining girls “bring it” to the cheerleader-themed photoshoot. Will any of them channel Kristen Dunst or Gabrielle Union from Bring It On? Possibly, but I’m hoping for a few of them to look like Cheerio rejects from Glee. Photographer Sarah Silver snaps this week’s pics. Designer Mara Hoffman has the models strutting her fashions for the episode’s runway challenge. Check out this week’s backstage photos below, plus check out the NEW Miss J.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I’m loving all the changes Tyra Banks has made to the 19th cycle of America’s Next Top Model. As if the viewer voting wasn’t already awesome enough, but last week’s twist at the makeovers was fantastic. Giving the option for the girls to deny a “shake-over” was definitely going to stir up drama. How much of a snooty bitch was that Maria Tucker? She may have Harvard book smarts, but girl definitely lacks social skills and street smarts. Definitely a fool to try to go head-to-head with Kelly and Tyra. Glad she withdrew from the competition.
For this week’s challenge, the girls participate in some acting exercise given by Tyler Perry. Based on the picture above, the model wannabes have to emulate whatever their banner says. All the action takes place over at Santa Monica’s world-famous Third Street Promenade. Taking the pictures at the photo shoot is Rickey Middelsworth. Given that zombies are all the rage these days, the ladies are instructed to channel their inner walking dead personas for Middelsworth. If you recognize all the rubble, you’ve probably taken Universal Studios’ backlot tram tour.
The CW only released the official pictures of the remaining girls left in the competition. If you want to check out Darian and Jessie’s pics for the new “Comeback” portion of show, read my post from a couple of months ago featuring their zombie pics.
It’s Shake-overs and Ty-overs time on America’s Next Top Model Cycle 19. Based on the title, you’d think one of the girls wanted out due to their new look. Nope. Instead it was because they had to put pasties on and pose nude with hunky new judge Rob Evans. Seriously, why any girl would opt of that challenge is beyond me. Back in May, I first shared who quit the competition, along with my comments for this week’s photoshoot, click here to check them out.
Before we get to this week’s photos, I just wanted to quickly comment how much I’m enjoying this season. I love the fact we finally have a numerical value associated with each girls performance during the week. From the challenge, to photoshoot performance, to judges’ comments and to public opinion, I like knowing what mark each girl gets. Plus, I think this cycle’s crop of girls have memorable personalities. Speaking of which, how cray cray is Victoria, the homeschooled mom-loving freak? Check out backstage pictures from this week below.
America’s Next Top Model debuted its brand new line-up last Friday, or as Tyra calls it, “Fierce Fridays“. There certainly were a lot of changes. Based on first impression, I think Banks took a step in the right direction. I’m really loving model Rob Evans and his adorable accent. Fresh blood was definitely needed on the panel and on set, plus I’m loving the social media addition. Let’s face it, fans’ viewpoints can be way harsher and bitchier than Janice Dickinson on a good day.
While the ratings were down from last Fall’s numbers, as expected with the move to Fridays, the numbers were pretty flat when compared to the Spring ratings. As it stands, the CW’s decision to move the veteran reality competition hasn’t hurt, nor helped, the show. If numbers remain steady, I fully expect a 20th cycle coming our way in the Spring.
Even though we’ve seen each contestant’s best photo from every shoot a few months ago, it’s interesting to see how the producers edit the girls. Kristin, who was an early favorite of mine, came off rather conceited and bitchy on the show. On the flip side, Kiara who I wasn’t feeling, really grew on me during the first episode. Check out the official HD pics and backstage photos from the next episode below. You’ll be surprised to discover who’s snapping the pictures this week? No, it’s not Tyra, but rather, it’s a star from another CW show. Find out who below.
It’s a brand new era for America’s Next Top Model when it returns for its 19th Cycle this week. Not only has the veteran show been banished to the wasteland this is Friday night, but it also has a brand new crew working with the wannabe models. Gone are Nigel Barker, Jay Alexander and Jay Manuel. Filling in on the panel are male supermodel Rob Evans and fashion blogger Bryanboy. On set working with the girls on the photo shoot is celebrity stylist Johnny Wujek.
The career-making grand prize has also changed. Nylon magazine has stepped in for Vogue Italia, and the $100,000 cosmetics contract is now with Smashbox and not CoverGirl. The Cycle 19 winner also lands a campaign for Nine West, model representation with LA Models & NY Model Management and most of all, becomes the face of ANTM perfume, “Dream Come True“. How ironic is it that the winner’s supermodel dreams never come true? LOL. The show even has a new catchphrase this time around, “Only One Can Be Top of The Class“.
Even with all that, the biggest change of all is allowing viewers to vote and comment on the photo shoots. That’s right, America is the newest judge on the panel. The show released the photos for public voting back a few months ago as the show was filming. It’s kinda weird knowing what the upcoming photos will look like. That said, all the eliminations and reward challenges are still a mystery.
Whether this or any of the aforementioned changes can save this sinking ship, we will soon find out at the CW upfronts come Spring 2013. Personally, I’m all about The Face with Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha. Can’t wait to check that new show out on Oxygen. In the meantime, check out preview pics from ANTM’s Cycle 19 season premiere below.
