New wave rock band Neon Trees, has probably chosen the most unlikeliest song to cover. Mohawked Neon Trees frontman Tyler Glenn, explains they chose Justin Bieber’s hit “Baby” because everyone is enjoying it right now. I guess, everyone does have “Bieber Fever”. In addition Bieber is on the same label, so they thought it’d be nice shout out.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE their doo-wop infused acoustic version of the Biebz’s hit. But what put me over the moon, was when they mashed it up with Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me“. Truly brilliant. I love a good mashup and this one certainly fits the bill.

The Provo, Utah quartet has appeared on the “Jimmy Kimmel Show” and the “Tonight Show“, but their biggest break came when they were asked to open for The Killer’s North American tour dates. They signed a record deal with Mercury Records in 2009 shortly after touring with the band. Their debut album “Habits” is in stores now and their lead single “Animal” has been used in several commercials and reached #11 on Billboard’s Alternative Rock Chart.
