Even though we’re not recapping Survivor this season, I felt compelled to write something about the craziness that went down in last night’s episode. Even Rich, who wrote the recap for ANTM last night, felt compelled to mention something about it in his Top Model recap. The episode was jaw-dropping in many ways to say the least.
For those of you that recorded it and haven’t watched it yet, I’ll keep the specifics of what went on until after the jump. I will say that Tribal Council started off with Jeff saying that never in the some 400 tribal councils in 24 seasons of Survivor had a tribe of castaways made the decision one of the tribes this season did.
Before I get to the specifics, this is what fellow write Rich had to say about the episode: “Did you people watch Survivor tonight? OMFG. Can’t wait to read the recaps on that! I was so uncomfortable watching the vaguely racist, intensely classist, and deeply disturbing display of cultural insecurity. Colton is a nightmare. Gives all us gays a bad name… well maybe just the gay Republicans out there. That kid is awful. He needs a little Tyrant tirade a la Tiffany. Learn something from this!” Find out what went down below, and share your thoughts.

Last night, ABC’s highly anticipated thriller, ‘The River‘ debuted with a two-hour episode premiere. The result? Not the greatest. It averaged 7.5 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in the adult demo, up 4 percent from the comparable debut of Off the Map last year. The show also lost a 10th of a rating point each half hour during its run.
As the show kicked up, we soon learn the format of the show. Dr. Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood), a renowned wildlife expert and TV personality goes missing in the Amazon. Six months after his disappearance when the family was about to lose hope, his location beacon sends out a signal and his wife and son (Joe Anderson) venture out to find him. In order to be able to do so, they have to agree to having the same camera crew that used to follow Cole for his show document the adventure. Along with them, is a security guard and the captain of the boat (and his daughter).
To the dismay of many, last night ABC premiered their new comedy ‘Work It‘. The show is about two jobless men struggling to support themselves and their families through the recession. When they realize that women are getting all the jobs, they figure that if they can pass as women, they’ll get a job at a pharmaceutical company – and they succeed in doing just that.
Now I didn’t actually plan to watch it, but figured I might as well so that I could have an opinion about a show that was creating quite an uproar. Many are opposed to the show because it’s believed to be a huge step back in educating the masses on transgender issues and the difference between that and dressing up in drag. Recently, I attended a local forum where two transgendered women talked about what it was like to transition while working at a job. Can you imagine? A show like this is not going to help educate those that are unaware or misinformed. In fact, it will likely just makes things worse.

They’re baaaaack. Last night, Kourtney & Kim Take New York debuted it’s second season, with the two spoiled ladies dragging their men along for the ride. We already know that Kim & Kris’ fairytale doesn’t end happily ever after, but in this first episode (which was an hour long), we start to see their “marriage” unravel. Kim is unable to deal with sharing her space and seeing Kris’ stuff everywhere, and that’s only the beginning.
As for Kourtney and Scott, things aren’t too peachy for them either. The each have their own room and they aren’t as affectionate as they used to be. They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but the Big Apple may not be what the doctor ordered for Scott and Kourtney.
As the episode starts, we’re shown several media clips from the circus that has been the Kim & Kris divorce. From there, we transition into the episode with the following words: “8 Weeks Earlier“. LMFAO. Check out some of the episode highlights below.
As we’ve settled into most shows for the fall season, a few had yet to debut. One of these was the new ABC comedy, “Man Up!” which just premiered on Tuesday night. I really had no expectations going into the half-hour sitcom, but I actually like it! I will say that some other reviews I’ve seen say otherwise, but I did find myself laughing throughout the whole show.
Given the concept of having three adult male besties struggling to maintain their masculinity and childish behaviour in their respective lives, it’s a less racy TV version of “Hangover” or “Horrible Bosses” combined with a pinch of Phil Dunphy from “Modern Family“.
The show starts off with the three leading men playing a video game with each other from each of their homes while discussing their personal lives and issues. They soon get onto the topic of what Will (Mather Zickel) should buy his son for his 13th birthday. He wants the give to say, “I know you’re a man now, because I too am a man.” Craig (Christopher Moynihan, the sensitive one) suggests a journal, saying “A journal is a great place to put all your thoughts, your dreams, your poetry.” The witty & divorced Kenny (Dan Fogler) responds to the suggestion by saying, “You know another good place to put all those things is in your uterus.”

Last night, Fox took us back 85 million years for the 2-hour premiere of the highly anticipated series premiere of Terra Nova. Personally, I was curious about the show, but didn’t have my hopes up. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. Every now and then, I’ll mention the fact that the Battlestar Galactica series was my favorite television show of all time. Also, when I was a kid, Jurassic Park was one of my favorite movies. Have I found the perfect blend of the two? First let’s discuss what it’s all about and how it starts out.
The show starts off in 2149 on planet Earth where humanity is threatened with extinction due to air quality and overpopulation. Scientists discover a rift in space-time that allows people to travel 85 million years back in time to the Late Cretaceous period on the prehistoric Earth of an alternate reality, offering a chance to save humanity. It’s a new beginning for those that get to go, and it’s a second chance for modern day earth. The Shannon family (consisting of father Jim (sexy Jason O’Mara), his wife Elisabeth, and their three children Josh, Maddy and Zoe) join the tenth pilgrimage of settlers to Terra Nova, the first human colony on the other side of the temporal doorway.

It was another big night of television last night with so many premieres to watch. I even saw Alex‘s Facebook status say, “Well, the time has come for a second dvr box, or a change in tv viewing… 2nd box it is.” Oh Alex, you crack me up.
As I mentioned in my post about Revenge’s premiere episode, despite mixed reviews, overall I like the show and I’m definitely going to be tuning in each week to watch Emily Vancamp’s revenge play out. In terms of viewership, Revenge beat out CSI and Law & Order: SVU (in the coveted 18-49 demo) in the 10pm time slot, with over 10 million people tuning in.
The X-Factor was a different story for me. I thought I was going to be really into it, but alas in my opinion it was just another singing competition. Maybe better than the others, but in general, I fell like I’m “singing competition’d” out. The show did succeed in giving Fox its best season-opening since the early 1990s, but it was much lower than the premiere numbers for American Idol last season and below expectations.
Lastly, “The Emmy goes to… Modern Family“. LOL. This powerhouse comedy premiered their new season with a bang, up 18% over last year’s premiere with 14.3 million viewers tuning in to watch Lily’s wrath.
Check out the hour by hour viewership for last night’s TV after the jump…

Last night, the highly anticipated (by me at least) series premiere of “Revenge” took place, starring Emily VanCamp – formerly of Brothers & Sisters. The result has been mixed reviews. Personally, I like the concept of the show, where the lead character is seeking the demise and sabotage of the family that ruined her life and killed her father. I watched the show with Tyrell last night, and he said he felt like he was watching a soap opera, but then found that it got better towards the end of the episode.
“Two wrongs can never make a right because two wrongs can never equal each other,” narrates Emily as she takes us into her world. The episode starts off as a flash forward, and also has several flashbacks to when Emily was a kid and her father was still alive. For the most part, we’re watching Emily’s plan of revenge unfold – firstly, by her moving into the beach house right next door to her enemy. Emily’s number one target is her ridiculously rich bitch of a neighbor, Victoria Grayson. This woman played a big part in what happened to Emily’s father, and Emily is determined to destroy her life (and everyone around her) in return.
