DWTS Season 16: Week 1 Performances

In: Donovan, TV Shows

After watching the season premiere of Dancing With The Stars, I feel content with the predictions I made prior to the first telecast. Most of the celebrities performed as I thought they would with a couple notable exceptions. Both Andy Dick and Wynonna Judd impressed and entertained with their debut performances. That said, I still think they’re going to be eliminated within the first five weeks.

The stars had to dance either a cha cha cha, a foxtrot or a contemporary on the first night. With no results show until Tuesday, March 26, all of them get a second chance to impress viewers next Monday. Check out all the performances below and find out which ones were my three favorites and worst pick.

DWTS Season 16: Predicting The Final Three

In: Donovan, TV Shows

After going with an All-Stars edition, Dancing With The Stars is going back to basics for Season 16. While I enjoyed seeing returning favorites, I’m looking forward to tonight’s season premiere. While the star wattage isn’t as high as in previous seasons, I already have a few people I’m rooting for. Lisa Vanderpump, I’m talking about you.

Getting a first look at the “celebrities” with their professional partners is always exciting to watch. While I do enjoy witnessing the trainwrecks, I’m more stoked to see who comes bursting out of the gates gunning for the mirrorball trophy. Check out my predictions on how Season 16′s stars will fare.

The Early Boots

Without a doubt, Andy Dick will be one of the first to go. I just can’t see the 47-year-old comedian having any sort of rhythm. Former ABC sitcom star DL Hughley might have some dancing prowess, but don’t think he has the fan base to support him. Speaking of fans, everyone knows that country music has diehard ones. Normally I would put Wynonna Judd higher, but with Kellie Pickler also in the competition, I think Judd will suffer and be ousted early.

Also in this bunch is my favorite Lisa Vanderpump. While popular with Housewives addicts (myself included), she probably isn’t well known outside the Bravo universe. Hopefully her signature wit and sass will win over new fans quickly. Last in this list is boxer Victor Ortiz. I’m sure when it comes to demographics, there isn’t much crossover between DWTS and boxing watchers. His chances aren’t helped by being saddled with new professional, Lindsay Arnold either. I thoroughly believe, viewers also vote for their favorite pros.

My favorite part of every Dancing With The Stars season is the first episode. After weeks of buildup and buzz, we finally get to see who has the stuff to take it all the way and who’s there simply for fodder and ratings. This season that title goes to Andy Dick. I just can’t see the Newsradio star doing well. Poor Sharna Burgess. After spending several seasons in the Dance Troupe, she finally gets promoted to the big time, but saddled with Dick. LOL. With that said, the duo looks like they having lots of fun in their official promo photo.

ABC just released all the competing stars with their professional partners. This crop of wannabe hoofers doesn’t have the star wattage as previous ones, but I’m really looking forward to this season. We have new pro blood in the form of STYCYD alum Lindsay Arnold, Gleb Savchenko and the aforementioned Burgess. Based on first impressions Karina Smirnoff, Derek Hough and Val Chmerkovskiy have the best chemistry with their stars. Check out all the photos below.

It’s not official until you see it in black and white. In this case, in shiny bedazzled colorful skimpy outfits. In other words, DWTS battle fatigues. Up to this point, only the identities of the celebrities coming back for Dancing With The Stars‘ first All-Stars season and their professional dancers have been revealed. Now, we finally have our first look at all the new and returning partnerships ready for battle, beginning on Monday, September 24 on ABC.

Of the thirteen stars fighting for the Season 15 mirrorball, only eleven promo shots have been released. Obviously, the thirteenth spot won’t be filled until Monday, August 27 when the results of the online voting between Kyle Massey, Sabrina Bryan and Carson Kressley will be announced. Personally, I’m hoping for Kyle or Carson.

The other missing photo is of Kirstie Alley and Maks Chmerkovskiy. Could there already be trouble in paradise? Apparently not, according to Alley’s Twitter. The actress revealed she’s been out of town, but will be posing with Maks for their picture next week. In the meantime, check out the couples who managed to make the photoshoot below.

The All-Stars returning for the 15th season of “Dancing With The Stars” finally know who they’ll be dancing with when the dancing competition kicks off on Monday, September 24. Let’s face it. As talented as you are, it all depends on who you get as your professional. Not all DWTS pros were created equal. Plus, you never know what kind of chemistry will result when you put two individuals together.

Of the twelve partnerships, five are previous pairings. Those five lucky stars are probably ecstatic they’re coming back into the competition with a familiar face on their side. It’s interesting to see who the producers decided to saddle which star with each pro. Cheryl Burke has three previous partners returning, while Derek Hough, the most-winning pro with three titles, has no one returning. Find out who they’ll be coaching this season below.

Alright boys and girls. Another Monday, another night of Dancing With the Stars. I have to admit, I wasn’t thrilled with the premiere of season thirteen. There were no stand-out performances or performers for that matter. However, I am ready to give the stars another go. This week, they are being challenged with two harder genres of dance: Jive and the dreaded Quickstep. So, would they rise to the challenge?

The night started off a little slow for me, but finally got going when Rob Kardashian hit the floor with his partner Cheryl Burke. He had improved so much during the past week and Carrie Ann Inaba exclaimed that he is a better dancer than his sister Kim. Carson Kressley also tore up the ballroom with some serious ham and cheese. He may not be the most technical, but he definitely working hard to do well at this competition.

However, two stars really showed off everything they had. Ricki Lake and partner Derek Hough took the show to a whole new level with their jive which gave them a score of 23 from the judges, the highest of the night. Closing the night was soap star and real life hero, J.R. Martinez. Although his partner Karina pulled a big no no by putting a lift in the routine, it was still one of the best of the night. Check out where I ranked them in my four favorites below.

The season thirteen premiere of Dancing With The Stars is soon approaching and every day, we are given new teasers as of what we can look forward to this year. First there were the first look at rehearsals and now, we have been given the official pairing photos of the couples together.

Now, I hate to pick early favorites but I have to say that Kristin Cavallari looks absolutely stunning in her photos as well as Elisabetta Canalis (obviously). One photo that makes me chuckle is Hope Solo’s because I think the costume designer got confused and put her in a costume for the fallen Skating With The Stars.

On to the men. David Arquette’s photo is by far the best! He is really showcasing his personality and with those jazz hands, he’s ready to take on any challenge. I also cannot wait for the fierceness that is Carson Kressley. You know he’ll always be wearing something snappy, even to rehearsals. Check out the pair’s photos below.

DWTS Season 12 Announce Cast Pairings

In: Donovan, TV Shows

The “Dancing With The Stars” Season 12 cast was announced live on Monday night’s “The Bachelor” and just like the elimination show, the producers dragged things out before announcing the celeb-pro pairings. Couldn’t they just have revealed the celebrities’ partners that same night. Oh, well. So which of the returning professionals are coming back? Pretty much everyone from last season with one notable exception.

As reported here a few weeks earlier, fan favorite and record holder of the most mirror ball trophies, Derek Hough, is taking a season off to focus on his film career. Coming in to fill in his ballroom shoes, is Russian hottie, Dmitry Chaplin. Welcome back you sexy beast. Unfortunately, both Julianne Hough and Edyta Sliwinska aren’t coming back, much to the chagrin of their fans. Hopefully the producers will woo them back for lucky season 13.
