When compared to his recent singles, “Take Back The Night” was somewhat of a failure. The disco-fied lead cut from The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 peaked at No. 29, while “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors” hit No. 3 and No. 2 respectively on the Billboard Hot 100. With a slinkier grinding hip hop beat, Timberlake hopes “TKO” knocks out the competition and brings him back on top.
Once again, JT teams up with Timbaland. He sings about a woman who has done him wrong. Thematically, it’s not too different from “Cry Me A River.” For me, it didn’t capture me right away, but I’m willing to give it a couple more spins to grow on me. Check out the lengthy (it’s over seven minutes) new track below.
Watch out Rihanna, Jay-Z has a new prized pony in his stable. The Aussie pop legend just signed with Roc Nation’s artist management division. Her addition comes off the heels of Timbaland also being added to the rooster. Jay-Z’s management division currently represents Rihanna, Santigold, The Ting Tings, Melanie Fiona, Shakira and Solange Knowles to name a few. Is this the key to Kylie Minogue finally achieving North American superstar status? I think it might. It’s definitely the right direction for Miss Minogue.
“In a career now spanning 25 years, Kylie has released 11 studio albums, two live CDs, eight live concert DVDs, a greatest hits double album, and multiple video packages. She has released over 50 hit singles worldwide, including the Grammy-winning Come Into My World, and has sold more than 68 million albums worldwide. Needless to say, we’re excited to have Kylie join the Roc fam.” – Roc Nation
Justin Timberlake has brought his sexy back and has debuted his new single, “Suit & Tie” produced by Timbaland and featuring Jay Z. It’s not what I expected but as Nic said when we first heard it, “It’s a grower.” LOL.
Timberlake released the “Suit & Tie” song on his website on Sunday, and has released the name of his album which is called ‘The 20/20 Experience‘. A few days ago, Timberlake had announced his return to music saying, “I don’t want to put anything out that I feel like is something I don’t love. You just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it.” He then added, “I’m ready.”
The intro to the song is a little along, but the song I like. I guess I might have been expecting something bigger or more dancier, but JT never follows trends… he sets them. Listen to the track below and let me know what you think! Do you like?
If this rumor is true, today is our lucky day! For years, fans have been pleading for Justin Timberlake to bring his “sexy back” and release more music. Now, rumor has it that today is the day. The rumor first came from Florida’s Radio Now 97.9 that the 30-year-old singer is prepping the release of a new single on Monday.
This rumor became more real on Wednesday night at 9:03pm when Justin Timberlake himself tweeted, “Thursday, January 10th, 2013 at 9:01 am PST…” Amazing! The rumors are that this is produced by Timbaland and that the song features Jay Z and Beyonce. Are you freaking kidding me!?? That is epic!
Timbaland also tweeted something that plays into this being a real thing as well (I’ve included that below). The timing also falls in line with Beyonce’s upcoming new music and upcoming Superbowl performance as well. Check out both tweets below and stay tuned Thursday morning as we’ll definitely be posting about the song as soon as it comes up.
Every time I see that Timbaland has released a new track, I get pretty stoked. However, nothing has really compared to his epic music realness when he brought us Shock Value and Shock Value Volume 2. One day late for the party, Timbo pulled together some of his good musical pals to great a new track titled The Party Anthem.
When the track first starts, you can’t help but think to yourself, what kind of party is playing this track? It sounds like a broken piano, trailer park kind of party from a horror movie. But then, T Pain drops his auto tuned vocals on the hook and BOOM, we have a party jam. And the song only picks up from there. Lil Wayne’s verse is pure fire but nothing prepares you for what Missy Elliot has up her sleeve. Oh man have I ever missed Missy in the music game. I hope she has a full length album coming.
Rumor has it that Timbo is preparing to release Shock Value Volume 3 this year. I really hope it features some of the club bangers that he has been featuring on Timbaland Thursdays on his official SoundCloud Page. These tracks are what I’ve come to expect from the massive producer. Give a listen to The Party Anthem and tell me if you’re gonna add it to your next party playlist.
During the week of October 3, 1992, Billboard launched its Pop Songs radio airplay chart, gauging the biggest hits on mainstream Top 40 radio. To commemorate the chart’s 20th anniversary, Billboard is counting down the Top 100 Pop Songs on the chart over the past two decades (1992-2012). From rock to country music and everything in between, each genre is represented well in the countdown. That said, you’ll be surprised to know who lands in the Top 10.
Given that it’s a Pop Chart, you’d assume the artists in the above picture would’ve made the upper echelon of the list. Sure Katy Perry, Britney Spears, LMFAO and Adele make the Top 100 cut, but fail to make the Top 10. Instead, the list is occupied mostly by pop-rock ballads with a dance track thrown in for good measure. Even more shocking is who landed the No. 1 slot. Here are a few highlights from the Top 100 Pop Song list, with the Top 10 after that.
After debuting her two new tracks in a live performance earlier this month, Missy Elliott’s comeback songs have officially been released. Her record label posted the audio of both “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat” on its YouTube channel. As expected, long-time collaborator Timbaland appears on the tracks, both of which will appear on Elliott’s upcoming album, Block Party.
Personally, a song featuring Missy farting or sneezing would’ve made me happy. It’s been way too long of a break, IMHO. Thankfully, both her new offerings are solid efforts and should make her fans happy. With Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks representing the new wave of female MCs, it’s nice to have one of the legends in the genre back in the game. If you haven’t already done so, check out the 41-year-old rapper’s new tracks below.
This past weekend, Missy Elliott debuted two new songs (as promised) at a Labor Day Weekend party at Fontainebleau in Miami Beach with Timbaland & Friends, which also included Nas.
Missy performed some of her biggest hits, including “Get Ur Freak On” and “Lose Control”. She then said, “2012 there will be no games,” and then performed her new tracks, “Triple Threat” and “9th Inning.” The songs are scheduled to actually be released this week and as you know, when Missy & Timbaland are behind it, they will be good. Both are part of her highly anticipated upcoming album, Block Party. I’m so excited I feel like throwing on an Adidas tracksuit myself!
The video of the performance below isn’t the greatest quality, but it serves well as a little appetizer of what’s to come. Enjoy!
