In Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Harry Osborn was played by James Franco. Now it seems director Marc Webb has found his Osborn for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Reportedly, the new Harry beat out stiff competition for the role. Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and Douglas Booth (Romeo and Juliet) were just a few names reportedly up for the role. Webb calls this actor “an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast.”

Speaking of cast, Andrew Garfield returns as the masked vigilante as does Emma Stone to reprise her role of Gwen Stacy. For the second installment, Stone has competition for Spidey’s heart. Mary Jane Watson arrives and will be played by Shailene Woodley (The Descendants). Her addition was confirmed previously as was Jamie Foxx’s casting as the villainous Electro.
