the amazing spider-man 2

x-men-scene-jennifer-lawrence

Chances are you’ve probably already seen this. After all The Amazing Spider-Man 2 did a whopping $92 million at the box office this past weekend. If you didn’t stick around for the end credits, however, you might’ve missed this little X-Men gem. Jennifer Lawrence kicks butt as Mystique to save some fellow mutants in this surprise X-Men: Days of Future Past clip.

Normally, airing clips for other movies are a signature thing Marvel Studios does. According to Variety, director Marc Webb had an existing contract with Fox Searchlight to direct an upcoming movie and the only way that the studio would let him direct The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Sony was to include the scene in the film for free. Gotta love some savvy wheeling and dealing. Check out the clip below.

Alicia Keys Debuts Amazing Spider-Man 2 Music Video

At first listen, I thought “It’s On Again” was a delightful neo-soul retro-tinged track. I was expecting to love it more after numerous listens. Surprisingly, it hasn’t. In fact, I’d the say the opposite is occurring. Given the talent behind “It’s On Again,” I thought for sure it’d be my next obsession. Perhaps expectations were too high. At least the accompanying visual is an entertaining watch.

Alicia Keys is joined by Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell Williams. Lamar kicks things off rapping his verses into a walkie talkie while Pharrell, who produced the track, oversees all the action in a control room. Since he’s practically running things lately, it’s fitting Williams is where he is. It finishes with all three meeting up on the street with the video director and an orchestra. Random. Naturally, footage from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 are spliced in. Check out the visual below.

Alicia Keys last lent her vocals for 12 Years A Slave. The 33-year-old signs up for another movie soundtrack, but substantially lightens things up this time around.

Keys teams up with Kendrick Lamar for the first time with a Pharrell Williams-produced track. Kendrick kicks things off with a surprisingly rock-tinged beat before Alicia slides in with a trendy neo-soul retro disco beat. It’s nothing groundbreaking but a delightful treat.

It’s On Again” hits iTunes on April 1 with the entire soundtrack available for download on April 22. Give their The Amazing Spider-Man 2 collaboration a spin below.

Not everyone has a happy ending,” says Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper). No truer words have been said. The first official trailer highlights all the adversaries Spider-Man faces in the highly-anticipated sequel. It’s all about the villains. Making sure Peter Parker doesn’t get his happily ever after are Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Harry Osborn aka Hobgoblin (Dane DeHaan).

It’s an interesting move to have Spider-Man battle three foes in the film. One of the biggest complaints of the final film in the Sam Raimi trilogy was that Spider-Man had to budget his time battling Sandman, Venom and Franco’s pumpkin bomb throwing bad guy. Who says superheroes can’t multi-task ;)

If you’re wondering if there will be any other villains for Spidey to battle in future installments, pay close attention to the trailer. Doctor Octopus’ mechanical arms and the Vulture’s wings briefly appear. Perhaps it’s a hint. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2, 2014. Check out the trailer below.

On Thursday, July 18, the first footage from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be shown at San Diego Comic Con. If you aren’t able to attend the film’s panel, fear not. The 40-second teaser has found its way online prior to its official unveiling.

The new teaser highlights Jamie Foxx as the menacing Electro/Max Dillon. The veiny and sinister-looking villain is shown attached to a large contraption. No official synopsis has been released for the film yet, but presumably more information about it will be provided at the panel. The highly-anticipated sequel hits theaters on May 2, 2014. Check out the teaser below.

In Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Harry Osborn was played by James Franco. Now it seems director Marc Webb has found his Osborn for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Reportedly, the new Harry beat out stiff competition for the role. Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and Douglas Booth (Romeo and Juliet) were just a few names reportedly up for the role. Webb calls this actor “an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast.”

Speaking of cast, Andrew Garfield returns as the masked vigilante as does Emma Stone to reprise her role of Gwen Stacy. For the second installment, Stone has competition for Spidey’s heart. Mary Jane Watson arrives and will be played by Shailene Woodley (The Descendants). Her addition was confirmed previously as was Jamie Foxx’s casting as the villainous Electro. Filming reportedly will begin early 2013 with a tentative release date of May 2, 2014 planned. Find out who’s playing Peter Parker’s best friend below.
