Show of hands of those who know Jenny McCarthy has a talk show. Thought so, me neither. Well, apparently the 40-year-old entertainer headlines a weekly one airing on VH1. The Jenny McCarthy Show premiered last week and will feature different celebrity guests along with trivia, games and discussion about recent pop culture news. Also, a guest DJ and bartender will be on hand each week. Fun, but don’t you think it sounds like a straight female version of Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live!?
On her premiere, she had a multi-platinum selling recording artist booked as her first guest. Said singer showed up but bailed after his team saw what was waiting on set. To stand out among the sea of late night talk shows, McCarthy decided to sex up her show. She wanted to create a Vegas-type vibe. Find out exactly which singer left the building and why below.
Last night, Season 26 of Survivor premiered with the “Fans vs. Favorites: 2” theme. With so many strong characters coming back, it looks like it’s going to be a pretty satisfying season… with some eye candy as a bonus! Unfortunately, one of Jeff Probst’s other ventures isn’t doing so well.
“We believe Jeff is an incredible talent, and that he and his dedicated producing team delivered quality episodes throughout the season,” said CBS Television Distribution in a statement. “Unfortunately, the audience isn’t there to support a second year. We are grateful to the entire staff, our affiliate partners and advertisers for their ongoing support of The Jeff Probst Show. Production and broadcast of original episodes will continue through the current season.” Looks like the tribe has spoken, Jeff.
At 66-years-old, Dolly Parton’s mind is as sharp as they come. The country legend was subjected to rapid fire questions during her appearance on Live With Kelly and Michael. Not only did she answer five questions in a minute, but she did it with panache and with humor. I have to admit she’s pretty quick on her feet. When asked her favorite color, Parton answer “Clairol, number 249″. LOL.
Before the lightning questions, they briefly discussed the honorary doctorate Parton is receiving. Michael asked her if he could call her “Doctor Dolly” or “Double D” for short. She quickly replied, that it wasn’t new to her because, “I’ve been called that for years.”
The one thing not covered in the interview were the rumors that surfaced earlier this week that Dolly was in a lesbian relationship with her childhood friend Judy Ogle. Parton dismissed the rumors already stating that she’s not gay, but her fans are. Amen to that sister. You’ve got one here. Check out Dolly’s rapid fire session below.
Just because MTV is canceling Jersey Shore, that doesn’t mean the tanned bunch have to fade into the sunset. Pauly D, Snooki and JWOWW are all staying put on the network with their respective spin-offs and now you can add another Shore alum to that list. Slowly, the Seaside Heights crew is taking over MTV one fist pump at a time.
Question is, will it be Deena, Mike “The Situation”, Vinny, or Sammi and Ronnie? Perhaps the latter two could host some sort of effed up couples therapy SLASH dating show. It’s MTV, so you never know. Find out who’s staying on the network’s payroll below. The show is unlike anything you’ve seen from any of the Jersey Shore crew.
On a recent episode of Ricki Lake, it was all about “Gay People Living Straight Lives” and one of the guests was Josh Weed, whom I had previously posted about when he did an interview with Nightline. All of the exposure started a while back when he did a blog post titled, ““Gay, Mormon, And Married.”
Weed is an openly gay man, yet he’s been married to a woman for several years and says he’ll always remain loyal and faithful. Ricki asks him about the sacrifice he’s made and how he’s able to be sexually intimate with his wife when he’s not attracted to women.
The woman’s reaction? in the audience at 1:13 is absolutely hilarious.
What a year for Ricki Lake! It’s certainly better than last year, where here home burned down. Not only is she kicking butt (and losing weight in the process) on Dancing With The Stars, but it’s just been announced that she’ll have a new show next year called “The Ricky Lake Show“! That’s right folks, Ricki is going to be a talk show host once again for the first time since 2004!
Fox made the announcement, referring to her as “America’s girlfriend” and said that the show would cover topics of interest to 25 to 54 year old women (let’s face it – gay men as well), including parenting, diet, weight and love. The announcement explained, “Ricki is not an expert. She’s not a doctor, therapist or a super homemaker – she’s a working mom trying to figure life out, and inviting her audience along for the ride.” Paul Franklin, general sales manager for Twentieth Television, said “we are thrilled that Ricki will bring daily conversation and her relatable spirit to this impressive group of stations.” The show is set to premiere in September of 2012. For now, check out some old clips from her past talk show. Times have sure changed!
If you didn’t know it by now, Anderson Cooper is heading to daytime television this Fall. The 43-year-old reporter will be launching a new talk show in September, titled “Anderson“. He’ll tape the show from Jazz at Lincoln Center’s The Allen Room. From what I hear, the studio boasts sweeping views of Central Park and Columbus Circle. “Anderson” will air in syndication on major networks and fill Oprah Winfrey’s recently-vacated spot. Question remains if the Silver Fox will replace Oprah in the audience’s hearts.
“It’s fun and interesting to work in daytime television. The format is unique and you can really go in-depth on a wide range of fascinating and compelling stories. With this new program I hope to relay important information and relate to people and the audience in a completely different way. It’s an exciting opportunity to show another side of myself and create something worthwhile and special in daytime.” – Anderson Cooper
To promote his new endeavor, Cooper launched the show’s official website late last week. Showing a more relaxed look, Anderson rolls up his sleeves and flashes his million dollar smile. He also unveiled the san serif logo which I like. It’s understated and simple, but strong. Recently, Cooper spent a day in his new studio with a live audience where he shared insights about himself- from his childhood, favorite television shows, his career as a reporter and much more. Clips from the taping will be posted on his website throughout the summer, leading to the show’s September 12, 2011 debut.
Not talking about sex enough in your life or maybe, not having enough? Want to live vicariously through someone else’s stories? Now, all you have to do is watch a new talk show coming to E! soon called Foursome. The concept of the show is to talk openly about sex, sexual encounters and the like. Neil Patrick Harris’ husband David Burtka is one of the members along with American Idol contestant and best friend to Homorazzi, Kimberly Caldwell.
David talked to TV Guide about the show in a recent issue stating, “I have quite a past. I have lots of stories to talk about.” An insider who has seen the pilot says that the show will be the hottest and hippest show to hit the network since the introduction of Chelsea Lately. Have no fear Neil. David says that he will only talk about former sexcapades and not about what currently goes down in his own bedroom.
