We have finally made it folks! America’s favourite dancer has been revealed after two long, painful, filler-crammed nonsense hours. Can you even believe it! Lauren, Kent and Robert are the final three contestants (as you all know from Wednesday night’s performance show) and one of them will be walking away with the title. The show opened with its usual style; a performance with a collection of all-stars and season seven contestants, including an injured Alex Wong performing sitting choreography.
The piece was yet another new routine for Kent, Lauren and Robert to learn on top of all their routines from Wednesday. The number was put together by Christopher Scott, known from his role in LXD (legion of extraordinary dancers). I thought this routine was pretty fantastic right off the start and it makes sense when credit was revealed to Mr. Scott.
We are back with another episode of SYTYCD and there are only four dancers left yet we are being forced to watch another two fucking hours of dancing. Pardon my French but are you kidding me?! There are only four people left to dance; how many routines can you possibly be forcing them to dance to fill TWO HOURS. Enough, Skeletor, enough. THIS ISN’T EVEN THE FINALE – THAT’S NEXT WEEK!
We’re left with Kent, Robert, AdeChike and Lauren. The only good news about tonight’s episode is that America is FINALLY going to be making the decisions instead of the nonsense (and lame) judges hand picking who they want to win. I would love to see the format of next season be America’s choice for the entire program, similar to American Idol.
Each dancer will be performing THREE times tonight. WHY?!
The show opened with a Tyce Diorio Broadway top four group routine, performed to The Crapshooter’s Dance from Guys & Dolls (50th Anniversary Cast Recording). Man was this a load of crap! I really can’t stand Broadway. I am just in a foul mood right off the bat due to the excessive length of tonight’s performance show. Ya’ll know we’re going to have to suffer through a mediocre Fox Trot or Cha Cha that will make you want to poke your eyes out. I was literally watching this piece and kept thinking to myself, ‘which one of these things is not like the other…which one of these things just doesn’t belong…”
I’m BACK! Thanks to Richie for last week and doing a brilliant job filling in! So we’re back again to watch the top six dancers perform as the judges decided to keep all the contestants from last week as it was blatantly obvious that Jose was about to be sent home (or the injured Billy Bell) and heaven forbid that happen. I am really starting to get tired of the two hour format of this show. It is absolutely unnecessary for this show to be taking up this much time with only six dancers left. Thankfully two dancers are leaving us this week inching ever closer to the finale.
The first dancer to take to the stage is my boy Kent dancing a ChaCha routine with all-star Anya. The danced a Jean-Marc and France routine to My First Kiss by 3Oh!3 ft. Ke$ha. Thank goodness this was Kent’s routine or I would have fast forwarded from the minute they announced the ChaCha. I’ll give Kent credit, he did a decent job with this piece. Until the end. When he almost dropped Anya. Seriously, that was a hot mess tonight! Fantastic, they’ve added a fourth judge to the panel for more useless filler…
Hey peeps. It’s Rich. Dan is away this week. Where? I don’t know. He’s always been a bit of an enigma… or is that enema? Don’t tell him I wrote that… he’ll totally cut me out of the Mario Kart parties.
Recap WARNING. I’m grumpy… I may lash out at Nigel because I loathe his lecherous ways and I’m still reeling from the loss of Ashley and Alex due to injury. That AND I just found out too amazing friends who I love to bits are getting a divorce. Ugh. 2010 has not been a good year for relationships in my life and those around me. Oh… and the West End of Vancouver is CRAWLING with bridge and tunnel hooligans. I hate fireworks nights. Come on SYTYCD… cheer this grumpy ginger up!!!
Oh shit. There’s only five dancers in the opening and WHAT IS CAT WEARING?! Billy is missing and Cat is wearing chiffon curtains. WTF is going on. They’re dropping like flies! Billy Bell has injured his knee. It doesn’t sound as serious as the last two, but he is not going to perform tonight. He’s in the bottom three automatically. At least it wasn’t Lauren! Guest judge Kenny Ortega is here by the way.
First up is Lauren. She got a Tabitha and Napoleon hip hop routine with Twitch. Come on Girl! Bring it! It’s some sort of western theme. She’s the last girl standing and has to fight! They dance to My Chick Bad by Nicki Minaj. Still grumpy. I didn’t love the choreography, Twitch looked ridiculous in the tacky (literally and figuratively) chaps, and the song was gimmicky. BUT, Lauren was pretty good for what she was given to work with. I think she actually worked the routine better than Twitch. She definitely has a hip hop heiny. Adam thought she was hot, Mia thought she went hard and sexy, Kenny thought she was powerful, and Nigel said she was “nasty buck”. Meh.
We’re back in the hot seat as the top seven performers take to the stage following Alex Wong’s exit from the competition due to an injury. Seriously, before the show even started I was baffled at how this program is still taking TWO HOURS to showcase the top seven dancers’ routines. WTF?!
Right off the bat there were issues as Ashley was missing from the introduction of the dancers at the start of the show. Unbelievably she wasn’t able to dance due to a rib injury so once again she will be placed in the bottom three automatically. Another decision will have to be made in the results show on whether to keep her over the bottom two contestants that will be joining her, yet get the opportunity to dance for their lives. It would surprise me if the judges took out the second-to-last girl from the competition.
Following this news, the first couple was set to take the stage; Lauren dancing with all-star Mark. They were taking on a new style of dance that has yet to be performed on the SYTYCD stage, a Tahitian routine, choreographed by Tiana Liufau. Oh my goodness, this is too much with Mark shaking his hips all crazy like! The piece was danced to Jungle by Last Voices and had some of the most amazing costumes this show has ever created! I have to admit this was a pretty amazing and unique routine. I especially love the parts when Lauren shook her tail feather, literally! Definitely a great addition to the style of dances we have been exposed to over the years. Ew Skeletor was absolutely disgusting in his commentary once again and I dove for the remote to get him to shut up.
Alright folks, we’re back for another week of So You Think You Can Dance, and yet again we are about to witness another change to the shows format that we haven’t seen before at this stage in the competition. Each competitor will be dancing one piece with an all-star they have yet to be paired with as well as dancing a second routine with a fellow contestant. Doing quick math, we’ll be seeing two boys dance together TWICE! Sit back, grab your potato chips (or carrot sticks if you prefer) and get ready for an incredible night of dance with a total of 12 performances!
In an unbelievable turn of events, Alex Wong hurt himself in last nights rehearsals and will unfortunately have to sit out for the performances show. Still awaiting the test results he was forced automatically into the bottom three. Should he survive the eliminations round based on the other bottom two on Thursday night and unable to compete next week he will be automatically disqualified from the competition! NO WAY! I love a little drama on the SYTYCD stage!! Naturally the boy pulled on heartstrings with his waterworks so I imagine he’ll be safe this week regardless!
The show opened with the contestants picking their partners and I am DEVASTATED to hear that Alex and AdeChike were set to do a Bollywood routine! NOOOOOO!!! Damn you Alex and your weak ankles!
After those announcements the routines were set to start with Lauren and Pasha working with Jean-Marc and Frances to learn a ChaCha routine. The performance was danced to Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyonce! HECK YEAH IT WAS! Lauren KILLED the routine and once again Pasha was a stellar ballroom partner. Man he is really acting the part of sex-on-legs this season and I like it! The song definitely helped to enhance this routine and style allowing the audience to connect with the piece. Nice work team!!
So we’re back for another night of performances on So You Think You Can Dance with the top nine contestants taking to the stage after Cristina was sent packing last week after her sub-par Paso Doble with all-star Pasha. After the dancer introduction and Cat Deeley presented us the panel of Skeletor and his minions, the show was sent to begin.
Side Note: CAT HAD LIPSTICK ON HER TEETH! WTF?! Did her stylist fall asleep tonight?
A SHOCKER in tonight’s episode, the FIRST man-on-man routine with Alex and Twitch dancing a Nappy-tabs hip hop routine! Hey Adam, is this the two man routine you were hoping for in the show’s format? DISCUSS!
First up was AdeChike dancing Hip Hop with all-star Lauren (one of my fave girls) performed to Hot-N-Fun by N.E.R.D. featuring Nelly Furtado. Heck yeah the concept was a nerd Hip Hop routine! Then what? The nerds start to strip as Lauren shows of her stunning bedazzled purple bra and AdeChike bares his jacked body. NIIIIIICE! Too bad the song was ineffectual with helping the routine and pump up the energy. Overall I felt this routine was pretty flat and definitely not a strong way to start out the night.
So we are already down to our top ten dancers (which believe me is as weird to type as it is to say out loud) as Alexie left the competition week after a sub-par solo routine that left the judges wondering if she really had what it took to continue in the competition. Tonight, everyone needs to step up their game if they want to make it through tomorrow night’s elimination round! Enough chatter, let’s jump right into the action!
Random note; does ANYONE else notice the forced clapping when they introduce Nigel as the executive producer?! BRILLIANT disdain from the audience!!
The first person to take to the stage was Cristina dancing the Pasa Doble choreographed by SYTYCD Canada judge Jean-Marc and his wife France, with Pasha (Daddy McDadderson), performed to Ira Deorum/Sanctus by James Dooley. Right from the start all I could think was DANG is Pasha a hot man, with a nice ass in purple pants! Once again I found myself watching him throughout the entire routine and commenting out loud that Cristina is just not strong enough in her own style. Her extensions weren’t strong enough, and I do not love her feet. She really is the weakest dancer for me out of the remaining contestants.
