Thanks to Euro 2016, soccer fever is sweeping the land across the pond. Naturally, corporations are riding the wave.

When it comes to fans, ones supporting their favorite team and athletes are the most loyal and hardcore. German rail company Deutsche Bahn (DB) plays on that theme for their recently released soccer-themed advert featuring a surprising gay twist.

For the majority of the advert, we see what appears to be a huge soccer superfan. Using the company’s high-speed InterCity Express trains, he’s able to watch his favorite team wherever they play. Just when you think his behavior is borderline stalkerish, we find out it’s something else. Watch below to find out exactly what.

Amy Poehler dropped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday night. The two former Weekend Update co-anchors resurrected their popular Saturday Night Live Really!?!‘ bit, much to the delight of the studio audience.

The two were in fine form during their tag-team rant aimed at Sports Illustrated writer Andy Benoit. He tweeted earlier in the week that “women’s sports in general” are “not worth watching.” Watch Poehler and Meyers below tear him a new one.

Sports Stud: Marco Borriello

In: Patrick, Sports & Health, Totally GAY!

For these week’s Sport Stud, we’re featuring an Italian footballer / soccer player named Marco Borriello. He plays as a striker for Genoa and is known for his eye for the goal and his ability in the air. He has played for several other clubs including Milan, Roma, and West Ham United to name a few.

The left-footed hottie is 32-years old and was born and raised in Naples, Italy. He is sponsored by Nike and I’ve included the video of a commercial that he did with them. He has some hot tattoos and has done some sexy photo shoots in the past and I’ve also included some shots from those as well. Enjoy!

Sports Stud: Olivier Giroud

With the recent release of the Dieux Du Stade 2014 Calendar preview, I thought I would highlight one of the hotties from the shoot. This week’s Sports Stud is Olivier Giroud, a French footballer who plays for English club Arsenal in the Premier League and the French national team.

The 27-year old is known for his size (6’4″), physical style of play, his heading ability (hehe), his shot power, and his strength. This sexy Frenchie has shirtless on the cover of several magazines including, Tetu and Men’s Health. I’ve included a few of these covers below.

I’ve also included a video of when he and fellow teammate Mathieu Debuchy kiss on the field. You may recall that I included this video quite a while ago in a Sports Stud feature on Debuchy. In case you missed it, the video is also included below. Enjoy!

Sports Stud: Fredrik Ljungberg

In: Patrick, Sports & Health, Totally GAY!

Although he retired from professional soccer/football in August of last year, I decided to highlight the incredibly sexy Fredrik Ljungberg for this week’s Sports Stud. The Swedish 36-year-old played for several different clubs over the course of his career, including the Arsenal and more recently, Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse. He may recognize him as a model for Calvin Klein underwear, which he did from 2003 until 2007. In addition, he has represented brands such as Nike, Procter & Gamble, L’Oreal and currently represents Puma, ESPN and Pepsi.

With his accomplishments on the field and in his modelling career, over the years he’s received such titles as “Third Best Looking Male Athlete In The World” (Sports Illustrated), “Sexiest Player in the Premier league” (The Sun), and has also been nominated in various Sexiest Man In The World lists. It’s not difficult to understand why when you check out his pictures below. Enjoy!

Jason Collins may have been the first active-playing professional athlete to come out of the closet from a major sports team, but Robbie Rogers is the first openly-gay athlete to play in a game from a U.S. pro league. Collins publicly came out during off-season. Even though soccer isn’t considered one of the four major sports (basketball, baseball, football and hockey), it’s still a huge milestone in LGBT sports history.

At the age of 25, Rogers retired from the sport this past February due to the emotional toll of closeting his sexuality. However, after a few months off and plenty of support from fans and fellow players, Rogers reversed the decision, moving back to the United States from England and signing with the LA Galaxy. Sorry my Pacific Northwest friends, but it looks like I’m switching allegiances from the Seattle Sounders to the Galaxy 😉

This past weekend, he made his debut. He came off the bench during the 77th minute when the Galaxy had a commanding lead over the Sounders. Rogers was met with a thunderous applause as he walked onto the field. He ran by teammate Landon Donovan, who slapped his hand and patted him on the back as he took his position. In his first game as a Galaxy, the 26-year-old midfielder had five touches, one tackle and three completed passes in the game’s final 13 minutes. Check out a few pictures from his historic debut below.

“I’m back here kind of where I’m supposed to be. It’s crazy to me to think I stepped away from this game at 25,” he said. “I’ll sit in my bed tonight and thank God gave me the courage to do this and come back.”

Why is everything in slow motion so much more beautiful to watch than at normal speed? Add paint being splashed on the torsos of shirtless UK football players and it becomes a masterpiece. OK, it isn’t exactly a Picasso by any means, but it’s definitely more interesting than some pieces of art I’ve seen in museums. Just saying’.

Adidas unveiled a new promo enticing fans to pre-order Chelsea’s 2013/14 kit (uniform for you Yanks) without seeing it. Titled simply, “It’s blue, what else matters?” They convinced nine of the club’s players to strip down half-naked and become human targets for buckets of blue paint. I bet it was a horny gay on the ad team who came up with this brilliant idea 😉 Check out professional ballers John Terry, David Luiz become hot blue men below. If they ever get a career-ending injury, they’d be perfect to join The Blue Man Group. That or become extras on the next Smurfs movie.

Sports Stud: Robbie Rogers

In: Patrick, Sports & Health, Totally GAY!

Yesterday, a handsome 25-year-old US professional athlete and Olympic soccer player came out of the closet and his name is Robbie Rogers. Needless to say, I had to make him the Sports Stud for this week. He has decided to leave soccer (not sure if that is indefinitely or not) and focus on the next chapter of his life.

In his blog posting he wrote that throughout his life he has “been afraid, afraid to show whom I really was because of fear… Fear that judgment and rejection would hold me back from my dreams and aspirations. Fear that my loved ones would be farthest from me if they knew my secret. Fear that my secret would get in the way of my dreams.” By coming out of the closet, he has created the space to make whatever dreams he wants to come true a reality. “Secrets can cause so much internal damage. People love to preach about honesty, how honesty is so plain and simple. Try explaining to your loved ones after 25 years you are gay. I always thought I could hide this secret. Football was my escape, my purpose, my identity. Football hid my secret, gave me more joy than I could have ever imagined.”

Rogers played in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and is also the co-owner of a men’s fashion brand called Halsey. Check out his sexy photos below as well as his entire “coming out” blog entry.
