Adam Samberg and his comedy group, The Lonely Island, are targeting a huge popstar for their first feature film. And brilliantly I might add. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping looks hilarious and appears to be a must-see movie this summer.

In the mockumentary, Samberg plays a singer/rapper named Conner4Real, obviously based on Justin Bieber and his 2011 concert film, Never Say Never. He even names his fans, the Connfidants. Just like The Biebs, Connor faces a crisis of popularity after an album flops, leaving his fans, sycophants and rivals all wondering what to do when he’s no longer the dopest star of all.

The Judd Apatow-directed film boasts a bunch of cameos including Adam Levine, Carrie Underwood, Simon Cowell, Usher, Pink, Seal, Snoop Dogg and a whack of Saturday Night Live alums. Question is, will Justin be a good sport and make a surprise appearance in the film? Fingers crossed.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping arrives in theaters on June 3. Check out the hilarious trailer below.

FOX Premieres American Idol Mini-Documentary

In just a month on January 6, American Idol kicks off its 15th and final season. For any fan of the singing competition, especially of the earlier years, definitely tune in one last time. FOX promises the farewell run will be a season-long celebration.

The network begins its goodbye by releasing a mini-documentary. The current judges, Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr and Jennifer Lopez, are interviewed along with the OG panel of Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, to discuss the show’s highlights and impact on pop culture.

Watching the 20-minute clip, I couldn’t help but be a little nostalgic for the glory days. Used to be obsessed with this show, along with millions. While no longer the powerhouse it was once, you can’t deny American Idol’s accomplishments. It’s churned out plenty of household names who have sold millions of records and earned countless Grammys.

Walk down memory lane by watching the video below. It’s amazing to see how far and successful both Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have comes since auditioning for the show.

When American Idol returns for its swan song in January 2016, a few familiar faces might pop by. Ryan Seacrest reveals that past and present judges will be together again to bid adieu to the long-running singing competition.

“I’ve spoken to all of them recently and we as a team have talked to them about coming back to do something for the final season,” Seacrest told Access Hollywood on Thursday.”They are going to do it, it’s just a matter of figuring what to do with them.”

While I was fully expecting the original threesome, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson would return for the farewell season, I’m actually a bit surprised all the former judges are open to a reunion.

Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj had a fiery feud during their time on the show. To boot, both ladies along with Ellen DeGeneres have commented that they’ve regretted sitting on the panel. Nonetheless, it would be great for everyone to reunite on stage.

Excited to see all the judges return to their former stomping grounds? Does anyone even remember Kara DioGuardi? I kid. Weigh in below.

Simon Cowell Returns To American Television

Though he’s a co-creator of the show, Simon Cowell has never appeared on the panel of America’s Got Talent. That’s all about to change for Season 11 of the summer reality staple.

“The good news is America’s Got Talent is back next year and the even better news is so am I!” tweeted Cowell.

The 56-year-old acerbic British judge replaces an exiting Howard Stern. No word if Heidi Klum, Mel B or Howie Mandel are returning to the show to sit alongside Simon.

It’s the music circle of life. Ricky Martin got his start in the music industry being part of the boyband Menudo.

The 43-year-old is now paying it forward and joining forces with Simon Cowell to find the next ultimate Latino boyband. Cowell knows a thing or two in this arena as well. I’m sure you’ve heard of the little group he manufactured called One Direction 😉

“I am very excited to be a part of this innovative program, together with Simon Cowell,” said Ricky Martin. “Our community needs musical projects in order to cultivate its talents; which is why I feel it’s the perfect moment for a show like ‘La Banda.’ There is so much talent to be discovered and I’m sure we’ll find the next musical phenomenon with the help of not only the judges but also the fans.”

Before Susan Boyle wowed the world with her Britain’s Got Talent audition, there was Paul Potts. The Carphone Warehouse store manager stunned Simon Cowell and the UK with his amazing operatic voice. With his dodgy teeth and quiet demeanor, no one expected such talent. Potts ended up winning the inaugural season of the talent competition. Cowell in collaboration with The Weinstein Company are telling his rise to fame in an upcoming movie titled One Chance.

The Devil Wears Prada director David Frenkel helms the project with Tony winner James Corden stepping in to play Potts. Also starring in the film are Julie Walters, Colm Meaney, Alexandra Roach and Mackensie Crook. I’m sure if this film is a success, expect more biopics of other winners from Simon’s numerous reality shows. Check out the trailer below.

The first two teaser promos released by FOX featured Simon Cowell and his angels during the auditions getting sassy with each other and contestants. The latest X Factor Season 3 clip is all about the new lineup having fun and to warn us to expect the unexpected. What is this? Big Brother? Julie Chen, someone’s stealing your Chenbot lines 😉 What next, Mario Lopez saying “but first” during the live telecasts?

The new promo shows Paulina Rubio, Kelly Rowland and Demi Lovato getting their groove on to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ epic “Can’t Hold Us.” It also includes returning host Mario Lopez and the big boss Cowell mugging for the camera. At the end, all five of them come together and serve their fiercest model pose. Check it out below.

FOX Premieres First X Factor Season 3 Promos

In: Donovan, TV Shows

Let the official marketing push begin. During last night’s 2013 MLB All-Star Game, FOX debuted the first two promo vids for the third season of The X Factor. This maybe jumping the gun a bit, but it looks like Simon Cowell finally got it right with regards to the judging panel. It’s about friggin’ time. The chemistry between Cowell and his angels- Paulina Rubio, Kelly Rowland and Demi Lovato– looks electrifying and genuine. I have to admit, I’m really looking forward to a female-dominated panel.

With that being said, Season 2 promos teased and promoted a very animated Britney Spears and we all know how that turned out. All we got were a bunch of one-word responses and awkward facial reactions. Seems that Simon is still bitter about his decision to bring her on board last season. The British judge serves a little shade to the “Toxic” singer in one of the promos. Check them both out below. The X Factor’s two-night premiere is Sept. 11 and 12 on FOX.
