It’s the music circle of life. Ricky Martin got his start in the music industry being part of the boyband Menudo.
The 43-year-old is now paying it forward and joining forces with Simon Cowell to find the next ultimate Latino boyband. Cowell knows a thing or two in this arena as well. I’m sure you’ve heard of the little group he manufactured called One Direction ;)
“I am very excited to be a part of this innovative program, together with Simon Cowell,” said Ricky Martin. “Our community needs musical projects in order to cultivate its talents; which is why I feel it’s the perfect moment for a show like ‘La Banda.’ There is so much talent to be discovered and I’m sure we’ll find the next musical phenomenon with the help of not only the judges but also the fans.”
Before Susan Boyle wowed the world with her Britain’s Got Talent audition, there was Paul Potts. The Carphone Warehouse store manager stunned Simon Cowell and the UK with his amazing operatic voice. With his dodgy teeth and quiet demeanor, no one expected such talent. Potts ended up winning the inaugural season of the talent competition. Cowell in collaboration with The Weinstein Company are telling his rise to fame in an upcoming movie titled One Chance.
The Devil Wears Prada director David Frenkel helms the project with Tony winner James Corden stepping in to play Potts. Also starring in the film are Julie Walters, Colm Meaney, Alexandra Roach and Mackensie Crook. I’m sure if this film is a success, expect more biopics of other winners from Simon’s numerous reality shows. Check out the trailer below.
The first two teaser promos released by FOX featured Simon Cowell and his angels during the auditions getting sassy with each other and contestants. The latest X Factor Season 3 clip is all about the new lineup having fun and to warn us to expect the unexpected. What is this? Big Brother? Julie Chen, someone’s stealing your Chenbot lines ;) What next, Mario Lopez saying “but first” during the live telecasts?
The new promo shows Paulina Rubio, Kelly Rowland and Demi Lovato getting their groove on to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ epic “Can’t Hold Us.” It also includes returning host Mario Lopez and the big boss Cowell mugging for the camera. At the end, all five of them come together and serve their fiercest model pose. Check it out below.
Let the official marketing push begin. During last night’s 2013 MLB All-Star Game, FOX debuted the first two promo vids for the third season of The X Factor. This maybe jumping the gun a bit, but it looks like Simon Cowell finally got it right with regards to the judging panel. It’s about friggin’ time. The chemistry between Cowell and his angels- Paulina Rubio, Kelly Rowland and Demi Lovato- looks electrifying and genuine. I have to admit, I’m really looking forward to a female-dominated panel.
With that being said, Season 2 promos teased and promoted a very animated Britney Spears and we all know how that turned out. All we got were a bunch of one-word responses and awkward facial reactions. Seems that Simon is still bitter about his decision to bring her on board last season. The British judge serves a little shade to the “Toxic” singer in one of the promos. Check them both out below. The X Factor’s two-night premiere is Sept. 11 and 12 on FOX.
During a performance by Richard and Adam Johnson on the season finale of Britain’s Got Talent, Simon Cowell found himself trying to dodge eggs. As the finalists sang, Natalie Holt, a viola player from the backup orchestra, stood from her chair and began throwing eggs at the Brit judge. Security immediately whisked her away but not before Cowell was hit. After the performance, Simon joked about the incident saying “I didn’t like eggs. Now I really don’t like them.”
The most remarkable thing about the entire incident is that Richard and Adam didn’t miss a note and continued to sing “The Impossible Dream” as mayhem ensued all around them. Consummate professionals indeed.
What prompted Holt’s actions? Apparently, she competed on the show last year with her band Raven Quartet. Natalie, a BAFTA-nominated composer who appeared in the closing ceremony of last summer’s Olympics, has subsequently apologized for her actions. “I want to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I’ve never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do.” Watch the entire thing go down below, along with Cowell’s immediate reaction.
Just a day after FOX made the official announcement, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio joined Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell at the judges table. The two fresh
women arrived on their first day of their new gig on time. I couldn’t say the same for Cowell.
Three beautiful ladies and Simon is the one who’s taking the longest to get ready. In actuality, the Brit judge kept the three ladies waiting due to traffic problems as a result of flooding caused by heavy rains in the area. The FOX reality show began its first day of filming Season 3 in Charleston, South Carolina on Tuesday May 21.
As the ladies waited for their boss, Kelly joked, “Ooooh, I’ll be Simon,” as she plopped herself in his seat. When Cowell finally arrived, he asked the audience, “Is it a coincidence that when I arrive, everything gets better?” That cocky Brit ;)
Speaking of seating assignments, I was a little surprised that Rowland received the coveted spot by Cowell. Given his chemistry with Lovato, I thought she’d remain in her slot. Perhaps, during the audition process the show will play around with the seating arrangement to determine the best fit. Check out more photos from the first day of filming below.
FOX is expected to make a formal announcement tomorrow when production begins in Charleston, N.C., but EW.com is confirming the official judging lineup for The X Factor Season 3. Unlike previous seasons, or any singing show for that matter, the panel will consist of three ladies and one man. The complete opposite of The Voice’s current format of three men and one woman. I’m sure Simon Cowell won’t mind sharing the spotlight with three talented and attracted women.
As previously reported, it appears Kelly Rowland is heading back to the X Factor family. The 32-year-old singer previously sat on the panel on the UK version, the year Little Mix won. Find out who the third judge is below. Here’s a hint: Cowell is adding a little bit of spice.
If you thought Heidi Klum joining America’s Got Talent as a judge was odd, this might just put you over the edge. Clearly, Simon Cowell is going with a different approach as a possible replacement for the departing Britney Spears. You can’t get more out-of-the-box than this. The 53-year-old Brit is very interested with this actress who was once a teen queen on the small screen and on the silver one. Find out who might be joining Demi Lovato and Cowell on The X Factor judging panel below.
