If you’re a hardcore Gladiator like myself, this bit of news should excite you. EW.com is reporting that Scott Foley has been promoted to a series regular for Scandal‘s third season. AMAZING. Guess that means Foley’s other gig, FOX’s The Goodwin Games, is pretty much dead in the water. Call me crazy, but I kinda enjoy it. Foley and Becki Newton (Ugly Betty) on the same show. It doesn’t get much better than that.
With Foley’s promotion, this clearly means he’s not stuck in “the hole” for too long. If you recall, on the season finale he was being punished for saving Olivia Pope’s life (Kerry Washington) and tossed in small dungeon. With his character sticking around, fingers crossed that Olivia and him pursue a relationship. Love them together.
“I’m thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people,” Foley said in a statement. “Shonda and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling.”
Do you watch Scandal? Excited to see more of Scott Foley? Sound off below.
If FOX execs weren’t such numbnuts at times, Scott Foley would be gracing our televisions right now in the new comedy, The Goodwin Games. When the network revealed the sitcom co-starring Becki Newton (Ugly Betty) would be part of their 2012-13 television season, I was beyond ecstatic. Newton and Foley in the same show.. win, win.
Sadly, the show wouldn’t debut til midseason. Then just a few weeks ago, FOX disclosed the comedy was being pushed back to late spring or even summer. In other words, there’s a chance we might not even see it. FOX has a tendency to cancel shows even before airing a single episode. Even if The Goodwin Games does air, it certainly doesn’t have the support from the network. It’s definitely doomed. Yet, FOX is still trying to push Ben & Kate on us, which BTW, I gave up after a couple of episodes.
Thankfully, another network is giving what this Felicity fan wants… more Scott Foley. The 40-year-old has been tapped for a major story arc on one of my favorite shows of the moment. His role is being kept under wraps, but reportedly he’ll appear in the back nine episodes of this drama, leading to the season finale. Find out which show below.
The Season Five finale of True Blood airs tonight and I thought it was the perfect time to re-publish this post which was originally published a couple of years back. Since the first initial write-up, I’ve swapped out Kevin Alejandro (Jesus) and Todd Lowe (Terry Bellefleur) for a couple of new additions this season. Check out my updated Top 10 True Blood Hotties list.
While most of us watch the show for the storylines and plot twists, there are a few who tune in to watch the True Blood hunks drop trou. There’s so much homoerotism and hot naked asses during most episodes, its like watching a soft-core porn flick. Here’s hoping that the next season is as “fangtastic” as the previous ones.
True Blood probably has the highest concentration of hot men on any show on network or cable television. Since there are so many hot men to gawk at, I thought I’d rank the Top 10 hottest actors to have ever appeared on the show. Let me know if you agree and be sure to place a vote in the poll below.
With a smaller schedule to fill and “The X Factor” and “American Idol” eating up three hours a week, FOX didn’t have too many holes to fill. Given the success of “New Girl” this past season, the network wisely chose to increase their comedic offerings and created an all sitcom night on Tuesday. That move, pushes “Glee” over to Thursday night following the results show of either singing competition. Overall, I approve of this strategy as it’ll give the aging “Glee” a boost courtesy of a strong lead-in.
For its upfront presentation, FOX showed off their five new shows- three comedies and two dramas. To be perfectly honest, none of them seem like surefire bombs. They all have the potential to do really well for the network. That being said, the two I’m looking forward to the most- “The Following” and “The Goodwin Games“- won’t premiere til midseason. Check out all new offerings below. See if you agree with my choices.
“True Blood’s” fourth season hasn’t officially started yet, but cast additions for Season 5 are already underway. A former “Felicity” cast member has been tapped to appear in Season 4′s season finale and bleed into the following season. It’ll be a major recurring role that will continue if the show gets a renewal from HBO. Something tells me, that’ll be a no-brainer for the network. So will it be Felicty, Ben, Noel or Elena?
The upcoming season revolves around fairies which makes Keri Russell a natural fit considering her gorgeous naturally curly hair. For years, Russell refused to head back to television, but returned last year in Fox’s awful sitcom “Running Wilde“. A recurring role on “True Blood” might entice her to try a TV comeback one more time. Scott Speedman has already played a werewolf in the “Underworld” movies, so putting on another set of fangs wouldn’t be that far of a stretch.
Perhaps it’s Scott Foley who played the adorable Noel. In the past few years, he’s done numerous guest spots on popular shows like “Cougar Town” and most recently “Grey’s Anatomy“. A hop, skip and jump to cable television could be another stop for him. Lastly, there’s Tanji Miller. She’s been relatively quiet the past few years, but she could easily fit in with the Bon Temps crew. If she joined, she could play a long-lost relative of Tara & Lafayette’s. But enough teasing, let’s get on with the reveal.
Looks like “Glee” is rubbing off on the doctors of Seattle Grace. On the March 31st episode of “Grey’s Anatomy“, the bulk of the cast will be showing off their vocal pipes. The episode will be Callie-centric and, according to Shonda Rhimes, would’ve happened even if Sara Ramirez could sing. I’m sure the fact Ramirez is a Tony Award winning actress doesn’t hurt either.
“It’s an amazing opportunity… Singing runs in my family; it’s something I embrace about myself. I’ve been nothing but thrilled and excited to come to work and play a character that I love and portray a journey that I’m just really excited to portray.” – Sara Ramirez
So what can we expect from the musical episode. Rhimes promises it won’t be like “Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s” Broadway-esque episode. Instead, the singing make sense and that the cast isn’t just singing for no reason. Ramirez and the cast will be covering songs that have become synonymous with the show.
Kevin McKidd (Owen), Chandra Wilson (Bailey) and Ramirez will helm Snow Patrol’s hit song, “Chasing Cars“. Other songs making the episode include Anna Nalick’s “Breathe (2AM)” covered by Chyler Leigh (Lexie) and The Fray’s “How To Save A Life” and much more. Get a behind the scenes look at the cast singing below.
Waking up a tad hangover after a night of Halloween partying, reading this bit of news started off my day right. I’ve loved Scott Foley ever since he was Noel on “Felicity” and glad that he’ll be Seattle “gracing” our screens again soon. Hopefully the show will utilize him better than his lame story arc on “Cougar Town” last season.
Series creator, Shonda Rhimes, revealed Foley has booked a multi-episode arc this season on “Grey’s Anatomy“. Foley will play a patient named Henry, who “stirs things up” with Kim Raver’s Teddy. I wonder if Rhimes is hoping lightning strikes twice. The story so far seems reminiscent of the extremely popular Denny/Izzie storyline. Rhimes on her part is insisting that it won’t parallel that story and be very different from Denny. I guess time will tell.
