Well it’s here. After months of competition, a couple weeks of reruns and recaps, endless drama and some of the best/worst drag I’ve seen on tv we have a winner for the 5th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Before we get to the winner let’s recap a bit or the reunion shall we?
As is tradition we have a reunion episode where we get one last moment to see our Season 5 queens on the tube before they disappear into reality TV history (except for Alyssa, who is getting her own spinoff ALLEGEDLY!). I have to tell you I actually completely forgot that half of those queens were even on the show. But I guess that’s what happens when you get eliminated at the beginning.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5 comes to a close tonight. Who will take it all? Alaska, Jinkx Monsoon or Roxxy Andrews? Before RuPaul crowns “America’s Next Drag Superstar” and “Miss Congeniality,” all fourteen queens sit down to rehash all the drama served throughout the season. And there was plenty of it.
With regards to any reality show, it’s all about the reunion shows. After seeing all the confessionals, I’m sure all the queens will have plenty to say. The reunion special where the winner was announced taped on May 1. All the Season 5 contestants along with fan favorites from previous years donned their fiercest outfits on the red carpet. I personally liked Detox’s look the best. I literally had to do a double take when I saw her monochromatic makeup. I thought it was due to some black and white Photoshop magic. Alas it was all her. Check out all the looks below from this season’s crop and cast your vote on who werked it out the best.
Say what you will about this queen, she was fierce on Season 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. I loved her from the second I saw her promo and I will love her until the end of time. Miss Roxxxy Andrews was recently in Vancouver for the hottest Thursday night in town LIBERACE and natually I got to chat with her before she went on stage.
What I will tell you about Roxxxy is that she is incredibly sweet. Sure we had some GREAT sass moments, but she really took the time to spend time with us here and get to know everyone. Hopefully people will let the reality TV drama disappear because Roxxxy is incredible. Check out the interview below!
I’m totally late this week with my RuPaul’s Drag Race recap probably because I’m so deflated from the end of this season that I might’ve just given up completely. My favorite doesn’t stand a chance to win so why bother right?
As in previous years the final three had lunch with Ru (Tic Tacs…yet again. New shtick please), a sit down with Gloria Allred, they had to film a court scene playing three different characters (another acting challenge), and film RuPaul’s new video for “Beginning.”
I don’t think there has ever been such a huge amount of opinion regarding an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race as there is about last night’s episode. I’m not going to talk about the show because I already did in my review. What I want to do is post Roxxxy Andrew’s reaction to the episode last night.
Here it is:
FINAL FOUR! Did you guess right? I TOTALLY DID! Roxxxy, Jinkx, Detox and Alaska! KAPOW!
The final four- as in every season- have to do a mini pageant, and this season it was the SUGAR BALL! Each of the queens had to make 3 looks:
This was Roxxxy’s challenge to lose 100%. I said it last week, and I totally believed it right up until the end of the episode. Alaska was doing well, but she was having trouble with her candy couture: it kept breaking apart. Detox was struggling, as I feel she has been all season and I still don’t know why. Honestly, Detox is FIERCE, but girl, sometimes you just done have it. And, then there’s Jinkx, oh poor poor Jinkx. This episode was just a a plain ol’ mess for her from the antlers, to the skirt to the unrealized looks. Jinkx was definitely in over her head on this challenge, which was sadly unsurprising because I totally knew this was coming. And, now for the point of the entire episode: has Jinkx just been lucky this season? Roxxxy and Detox seem to think so, and I can’t say that I disagree.
It’s the makeover episode! I guess this season we have the family member, it’s not really specific as to what family member with the made over partners because we got a wide array of ages right? Let’s start at the beginning shall we?
The Mini Challenge this week was working out with boobs or something. I find it so pointless when they do challenges like this, I have no idea what it has to do with anything but whatever. So the winner of the mini challenge was Alaska. After her win we find out who the queens are making over, and it’s OUT ARMY VETS! DADT was repealed so that is what they latched onto this year. I LIVED for these army queens honestly, so so so funny. Some of them were just SUCH queens like the one Detox got paired up with. Honey she just wanted to get into some pumps as soon as she good (CHECK YOUR DRAG DETOX!!!)
Honestly a week without RuPaul’s Drag Race was torture. I can’t believe how boring Monday nights are without it, I have no idea what’s going to happen in May once the show is totally over.
After a week off I was ready for these bitches to turn it, and they did. This week was another group challenge and it was very clever: a TELENOVELA, hysterical. First though we had the mini challenge which was a crying on cue challenge, however Detox made it very real when she talked about her ex boyfriend who has died, a very real vulnerable moment for the strong Detox was incredibly beautiful. She had won the mini challenge along with Alyssa.
The queens were separated into two groups with Detox and Alyssa being captains. Detox has reassembled Rolaskatox and Alyssa got Coco and Jynkx who have been having some drama. The telenovela was directed by RuPaul and legend Maria Conchita Alonso with a special appearance by Wilmer Valderama who despite being a Latin star was absolutely beige in this challenge, yawn.
