The Birdman train to eventual Oscar glory keeps chugging along. The Michael Keaton film leads the pack (once again) with 13 nominations, this time for the 20th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. Close behind were The Grand Budapest Hotel and Boyhood with 11 and eight nominations respectively. Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken which was snubbed at the Golden Globes earned a Best Picture nod.

Legendary Super Bowl Champion Michael Strahan will serve as the show’s host which will air live on A&E at 9 p.m. ET on Jan. 15. As announced previously, Kevin Costner, Ron Howard and Jessica Chastain will each receive special honors at the ceremony.

Costner will receive their Lifetime Achievement Award while Ron Howard will be bestowed with the LOUIS XIII Critics’ Choice Genius Award. That latter is given to honor an icon who has demonstrated unprecedented excellence in the cinematic arts. Chastain receives the inaugural ‘Critics’ Choice MVP Award which recognizes an extraordinary actor for their work in several standout movies throughout a single year. She definitely deserves it with for her critically-acclaimed work in Interstellar, Miss Julie, A Most Violent Year and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.

Last year, the New York Times convinced the likes of Cate Blanchett, Oprah Winfrey, Bradley Cooper and more to take part in their ‘Making A Scene‘ video series. The year before that, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence, Rebel Wilson, Naomi Watts and more channeled their inner heroines for the publication.

For their annual gathering of the best film performers, they decided to get a bit more intimate. This year’s theme of ‘Duets‘ displays all the ways kisses have been portrayed in films.

9 Kisses‘ directed by Elaine Constantine feature nine unexpected couplings to lock lips ranging from passionate to playful in a series of intimate encounters. Reese Witherspoon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Steve Carell, Laura Dern, John Lithgow, Julianne Moore, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Miles Teller, Kristen Stewart, Patricia Arquette and Jason Schwartzman all participate.

There are even a couple of same-sex makeouts from Rosario Dawson and Jenny Slate and another from David Oyelowo and Timothy Spall. Though the latter is anything but romantic. Check out some of the smooches below.

It appears Birdman is the one to beat at the 87th Academy Awards. The film has been racking up numerous accolades all awards season long but with its multiple Screen Actors Guild nominations, it’s pretty much solidified itself as the frontrunner. Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, and Emma Stone all scored some love along with Best Ensemble which is the SAG’s version of Best Picture.

When it comes to correctly predicting Oscar nominees and eventual winners, the SAGs have one of the best records. With the 2014 nominations now unveiled, the Oscar race for the acting categories is becoming a lot clearer.

Julianne Moore, Patricia Arquette and Keaton cemented their statuses as the ones to place your bets on, while Jennifer Aniston, Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Eddie Redmayne have all now officially entered the race. Check out all the nominations below which includes Meryl Streep snagging her umpteenth nod.

For those too young to remember, David E. Kelley was sort of the Ryan Murphy of the 90s. The 58-year-old writer/producer was responsible for some of the most memorable series of the decade including Doogie Howser, M.D., Chicago Hope, Ally McBeal, The Practice and Picket Fences. His track record this decade hasn’t been as hot with several high-profile duds such as Harry’s Law, The Crazy Ones and the failed pilot for Wonder Woman. Here’s hoping his losing streak is finito.

Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are definitely banking on his luck changing. The duo have signed on to star in a limited series titled Big Little Lies by Kelley. It is based on Liane Moriarty’s best-selling book of the same name.

Earlier this year, Kidman and Witherspoon optioned the rights to the book in hopes of starring in it for a feature film. Looks like they’re fulfilling the acting part, but it’s heading to a different medium. The two A-list actresses will executive produce along with Kelly and author Moriarty. Talk about too many chefs in the kitchen ;)

celebrity-fan-encounters

Imagine what celebrities go through when fans run into them. I’m pretty sure being approached by random strangers gets annoying real fast. I know I get rattled a bit when someone I don’t recognize comes up to me . It’s virtually impossible to be personable 24/7.

During the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, Vanity Fair asked several celebs what their fans say to them when they recognize them on the street. They get everything from “You’re famous . . . who are you again?” to being called the completely wrong name. In the clip, Jennifer Connelly and Keira Knightley confess they’ve been mistaken for Demi Moore and Anne Hathaway respectively.

Check out below what Reese Witherspoon, Channing Tatum, Jake Gyllenhaal and others shared with the publication. Gyllenhaal’s is one of my favorites: “We don’t wanna talk to you, we just wanna take a picture with you.” That’s totally something I would say ;)

If you liked The Blindside, you’re going to love this. The Good Lie is another heartwarming film based on a true story, coincidentally brought to us by the same producers as Sandra Bullock’s football drama.

Taking the part of the straight-talking woman set to make things right is Reese Witherspoon. She takes in four young Sudanese refugees (known as Lost Boys of Sudan) who win a lottery for relocation to the United States. House of CardsCorey Stoll also appears in the film.

The Good Lie was shot in Atlanta, Georgia. If you recall, this is the project Reese was shooting when she was infamously caught on film on a drunken tirade towards a police officer. The Philippe Falardeau-directed film hits theaters on October 2. Check out the trailer below.

If I could crash only one Oscar party, it’d be a tough choice between Elton John’s gala or Vanity Fair’s shindig. There’s plenty of star power at each event and no doubt tasty eats and delicious cocktails. However, after checking out Vanity Fair’s Instagram account, I’m leaning towards theirs.

Several attendees posed for the publication’s photobooth under the watchful eye of photographer Mark Seliger. Donatella Versace posed with her latest celeb ambassadors, Lady Gaga and Nolan Gerard Funk, for a stunning photo that could easily pass for an official campaign pic. Other standouts include Selena Gomez, Naomi Watts, Neil Patrick Harris and of course, the queen of the night, Miss Lupita Nyong’o. Check out a few below.
