With Sarah Michelle Gellar reprising her role for the Cruel Intentions sequel series, I was hopeful Reese Witherspoon would do that same. At the very least, there was a cameo in the works down the road given that Reese probably couldn’t commit due to her successful film career.

Sadly, it appears that won’t happen. NBC has recast the role of Annette Hargrove, originally played by Witherspoon in the feature film. Her role is described as “a genuine, good Christian woman for whom life has not been easy,” Entertainment Weekly reports. Find out below who’s playing her now.

“The drama follows the beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil (Gellar) as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey (Taylor John Smith), son of her brother, the late Sebastian Valmont, and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined,” According to the Hollywood Reporter.

For 25 years, Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards have celebrated women’s achievements. The event’s silver anniversary takes place on November 9 at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Among the trailblazers and newsmakers being honored at the ceremony come from the world of entertainment, politics, fashion and business.

Reese Witherspoon is the publication’s December cover star. The 39-year-old actress opens up about her decision to play Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

“I was debating whether to do Legally Blonde, and I saw this interview with Gloria Steinem about how important Goldie Hawn’s role in Private Benjamin was for women; by the end of the movie, the character socked her fiancé in the face at the altar because he didn’t understand who she’d become through her journey. I was like, ‘I feel like Gloria Steinem told me to do Legally Blonde. That’s how Elle Woods is too!’ She starts out thinking she’s gonna follow a man, but in the end she’s like, ‘I don’t need you.’” – Witherspoon to Glamour

Being the face of the revolution against President Snow pays.

Forbes reveals that Jennifer Lawrence is the highest paid actress over the past 12 months. At a whopping $52 million, she soars above her compatriots. No doubt a good chunk of that coin comes from The Hunger Games franchise. Her lucrative endorsement deals for brands such as Dior certainly pad her bank account quite nicely as well.

Coming in at the runner-up slot is Scarlett Johansson at $35 million thanks to The Avengers and Lucy. Rounding out the Top 3 is Melissa McCarthy at $23 million.

Last year’s top dog Sandra Bullock falls to No. 15 on this year’s list, earning $8 million according to the publication. Check out below which other actresses are laughing all the way to the bank.

It’s hard to imagine anyone else besides Reese Witherspoon teaching the world the ‘Bend and Snap,’ but it almost happened. While promoting her new film Vacation, Christina Applegate revealed she received the script after recently wrapping up Married… With Children. Understandably, she was hesitant to play another ditzy blonde.

With the 2001 comedy becoming a huge hit and spawning a sequel and musical adaptation, not surprisingly, she regrets that decision. “What a stupid move that was, right?” she said.

cruel-intentions

The teen version of Dangerous Liaisons set in modern-day New York wreaked havoc on the box office in 1999. Cruel Intentions raked in over $75 million with only a $10 million production budget behind it. Not too shabby. Two sequels featuring none of the main cast were filmed, but went straight to home video. Not surprising.

The ladies of the teen flick met up recently for a girls night out. Reese Witherspoon shared a couple of pics of her posing with her former co-stars, Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

They all look genuinely happy to be together again. After seeing the below photos, I’m craving a sequel but only if the original cast reunited on-screen. Check out the epic reunion below.

This casting is absolutely brillballs. Reese Witherspoon has been tapped to play everyone’s favorite fairy in a new live-action film based on the classic Peter Pan character, Tinkerbell.

Hollywood Reporter reveals the 39-year-old actress will not only play the titular character in Tink, but she’ll produce it as well. Bruna Papandrea, her partner at their production banner, Pacific Standard, will also co-produce
