legally-blonde-anniversary

July 13, 2016 marks the 15th anniversary of the release of Legally Blonde in theaters. Where did the time go? It honestly feels just like yesterday when Elle Woods headed to Harvard with her adorable pup, Bruiser.

To celebrate the anniversary, Reese Witherspoon teamed up with Instagram to revisit her signature move from the comedy. Watch her “Bend and Snap” instructional video. It’ll definitely put a smile on your face.

Going through American Idol withdrawal already? Fear not, this musical animated film from the makers of Despicable Me and Minions will fill the void. Featuring more than 85 hit songs, I have no doubt Sing will charm moviegoers this Christmas.

Matthew McConaughey headlines the all-star cast, voicing a koala named Buster Moon who is trying to save his theater from closing down. He comes up with an idea to host a singing competition to raise money. Naturally, every animal with any sort of talent auditions. The leading five are Rosita (Reese Witherspoon), Mike (Seth MacFarlane), Ash (Scarlett Johansson), Meena (Tori Kelly), and Johnny (Taron Egerton).

Sing Movie Synopsis

Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon (Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey), a dapper Koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal optimist—okay, maybe a bit of a scoundrel—who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.

Five lead contestants emerge: A mouse (Seth MacFarlane) who croons as smoothly as he cons, a timid teenage elephant (Tori Kelly) with an enormous case of stage fright, an overtaxed mother (Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon) run ragged tending a litter of 25 piglets, a young gangster gorilla (Taron Egerton) looking to break free of his family’s felonies, and a punk-rock porcupine (Scarlett Johansson) struggling to shed her arrogant boyfriend and go solo. Each animal arrives under Buster’s marquee believing that this is their shot to change the course of their life.

Sing arrives in theaters on December 21. Check out the charming movie trailer below.

Adapting beloved animated classics has proven quite lucrative for Disney. Their latest, The Jungle Book, has wreaked havoc at the box office for two straight weekends in a row. Naturally, the studio is forging ahead with plenty more live-action fare.

First up are sequels for two blockbusters. Angelina Jolie will once again channel her villainess for Maleficent 2, while Jon Favreau is set to return to direct The Jungle Book 2. Find out the rest of Disney’s upcoming projects below including a Tinker Bell film starring a popular blonde actress.

With Sarah Michelle Gellar reprising her role for the Cruel Intentions sequel series, I was hopeful Reese Witherspoon would do that same. At the very least, there was a cameo in the works down the road given that Reese probably couldn’t commit due to her successful film career.

Sadly, it appears that won’t happen. NBC has recast the role of Annette Hargrove, originally played by Witherspoon in the feature film. Her role is described as “a genuine, good Christian woman for whom life has not been easy,” Entertainment Weekly reports. Find out below who’s playing her now.

“The drama follows the beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil (Gellar) as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey (Taylor John Smith), son of her brother, the late Sebastian Valmont, and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined,” According to the Hollywood Reporter.

glamour-woment-of-the-year

For 25 years, Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards have celebrated women’s achievements. The event’s silver anniversary takes place on November 9 at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Among the trailblazers and newsmakers being honored at the ceremony come from the world of entertainment, politics, fashion and business.

Reese Witherspoon is the publication’s December cover star. The 39-year-old actress opens up about her decision to play Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

“I was debating whether to do Legally Blonde, and I saw this interview with Gloria Steinem about how important Goldie Hawn’s role in Private Benjamin was for women; by the end of the movie, the character socked her fiancé in the face at the altar because he didn’t understand who she’d become through her journey. I was like, ‘I feel like Gloria Steinem told me to do Legally Blonde. That’s how Elle Woods is too!’ She starts out thinking she’s gonna follow a man, but in the end she’s like, ‘I don’t need you.’” – Witherspoon to Glamour

Being the face of the revolution against President Snow pays.

Forbes reveals that Jennifer Lawrence is the highest paid actress over the past 12 months. At a whopping $52 million, she soars above her compatriots. No doubt a good chunk of that coin comes from The Hunger Games franchise. Her lucrative endorsement deals for brands such as Dior certainly pad her bank account quite nicely as well.

Coming in at the runner-up slot is Scarlett Johansson at $35 million thanks to The Avengers and Lucy. Rounding out the Top 3 is Melissa McCarthy at $23 million.

Last year’s top dog Sandra Bullock falls to No. 15 on this year’s list, earning $8 million according to the publication. Check out below which other actresses are laughing all the way to the bank.

It’s hard to imagine anyone else besides Reese Witherspoon teaching the world the ‘Bend and Snap,’ but it almost happened. While promoting her new film Vacation, Christina Applegate revealed she received the script after recently wrapping up Married… With Children. Understandably, she was hesitant to play another ditzy blonde.

With the 2001 comedy becoming a huge hit and spawning a sequel and musical adaptation, not surprisingly, she regrets that decision. “What a stupid move that was, right?” she said.
