Pink Debuts New Power Ballad ‘Just Like Fire’

In: Donovan, Movies, Music

With the exception of recording the theme song for Season 13 of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, things on the Pink front have been relatively quiet. She reemerged a few weeks ago with a brilliant cover of the Jefferson Airplane classic “White Rabbit” featured in the trailer for Alice Through The Looking Glass. It appears that the 36-year-old singer also recorded an original song for the Alice In Wonderland sequel.

Just Like Fire” is Pink’s first real single in over three years. She teams up with Max Martin on the power ballad once again. They previously collaborated on “Raise Your Glass,” “Fuckin’ Perfect” and “So What.” Martin co-produced it with Shellback and Oscar Holter. Love the chants leading up to the chorus but it’s her surprising rap break that steals the show in my opinion.

Check out a clip below directed by Dave Meyers which features characters from the Tim Burton-directed film.

With the exception of recording the theme song for Season 13 of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, things on the Pink front have been relatively quiet. The 36-year-old singer reemerges with a brilliant cover of a Jefferson Airplane classic.

She takes on the band’s iconic 1967 hit, “White Rabbit,” for Alice Through The Looking Glass. Grace Slick would be proud. Pink’s rendition is heavily featured in the new trailer for the Alice In Wonderland sequel.

Johnny Depp reprises his role as the Mad Hatter, while Mia Wasikowska plays Alice once again. Also returning for Alice Through The Looking Glass are Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Michael Sheen as the voice of the White Rabbit, and Alan Rickman as the voice of the Blue Caterpillar. Sacha Baron Cohen is the most notable newbie in the film. He’ll play Time, a villain who is part human, part clock.

Alice Through the Looking Glass hits theaters on May 27, 2016. Check out the new trailer below.

It’s been far too long since Pink dropped a full-length studio album. I need a follow up to 2012’s The Truth About Love stat. Until the 36-year-old singer blesses her fans with that, we have this little ditty to tide us over.

After teasing it weeks ago, Pink debuted “Today’s The Day” in full. The Greg Kurstin-produced number is the official theme song for 13th season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. With it being for a daytime talk show, naturally it’s upbeat and empowering. However, it’s still signature Pink. As always, her vocals are on point and flawless.

Pink appeared on Ellen’s show today to premiere the track officially. Give it a listen below.

Shazam Reveals Most Tagged Songs & TV Shows Of 2013

I don’t know about you, but I feel Shazam is probably one of the best apps ever created. There is nothing more frustrating than hearing a song but not being able to remember the title or artist. Even worse, if you hear it on your favorite TV show and rack your brain trying to figure it out, but still come up empty-handed. Honestly, Shazam has saved me numerous headaches. I also love using it as a makeshift to-download list for songs I need to purchase. The service has been partially credited for Icona Pop’s success. Their hit “I Love It” went on to be Shazamed more than two millions times in the US after appearing on Girls.

In the past several years, Shazam’s activity has increased at an astronomical rate. In 2011, Adele was tops with 4 million Shazams. In 2012, five artists achieved more than five million tags. This year, 43 artists have achieved more than five million Shazams. The popular music tagging service revealed their annual list of most popular tags. Check out the lists below and see if your tagging contributed to the totals.

VEVO Reveals The 10 Most Played Music Videos In 2013

Despite all the headlines and chart success, Miley Cyrus received no Grammy nominations. I guess all her antics scared off Academy voters. Here’s a small consolation prize for being snubbed.

VEVO recently released their annual list ranking the ten most played music videos of the year. In no shocker, Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” topped the list. After all, the clip generated 19.3 million views on its first day of release and was the fastest to be certified in VEVO’s history by reaching 100 million views within just six days. As of December 1, the much-spoofed clip stood tall with over 371 million views worldwide. Last year’s winner, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen notched 357 million clicks in 2012.

The most interesting part of the list is how a couple of leftovers from last year made the list. Both Rihanna’s “Diamonds” and will.i.am’s collabo with Britney landed in the Top 10. On the flip side, Katy Perry breaking the Top 5 is equally as impressive, given that “Roar” only premiered just in August. Check out below what other clips were extremely popular in 2013.

P!nk Does The Walk of Shame In New Music Video

In: Donovan, Music

Typically, I’m not a fan of artists passing off concert footage as a new music video, but it’s P!nk. The woman can do no wrong in my books. Plus, her new visual was taped during her record-breaking tour in Melbourne, Australia. The “Try” singer sold out a record 18 shows. Love, love, love that city. I’d move there in a heartbeat.

Reportedly, this video is her thank you to her Aussie fans. Also, the clip serves as bit of a promo for her upcoming concert DVD hitting stores this holiday season.

Walk of Shame” is her fifth off her multi-platinum selling album, The Truth About Love. The single is only being released officially and sent to radio in Down Under. BOO. Check out the Greg Kurstin-directed clip below. Ummm, what exactly did he direct? Enlighten me. It’s concert footage.

Miguel Covers P!nk Down Under

In: Donovan, Music

If you didn’t know by now, I have the hugest hard-on for Miguel. Hands down, he’s the best and sexiest male R&B singer in recent years. Single-handedly, he reignited my love for R&B slow jams with his extremely steamy track, “Adorn.” Naturally, I was going to share the 27-year-old singer’s acoustic cover of this classic. It doesn’t hurt that it’s one of our favorite tracks from P!nk.

While on a promotional tour in Australia, Miguel stopped by Fifi & Jules to deliver a wicked acoustic set including “Just Like A Pill.” He gives the track new dimension with his stripped-down and emotional rendition. If you’re a fan of P!nk’s classic track, you definitely have to watch it. As an extra added bonus, I embedded a cover by Miguel of another pop starlet. A couple of years ago, back when he was starting out, he took on “Hold It Against Me” for Billboard. Check out both performances below.

Pink Shows Off Her True Loves In New Music Video

In: Donovan, Music

When you have a song titled “True Love,” it would be foolish not to feature your loved ones. Luckily for her, P!nk is no fool. The 33-year-old singer called upon her husband Carey Hart and daughter Willow to appear alongside her. Also appearing in the colorful clip is English recording artist Lily Allen.

“True Love” is the fourth single off The Truth About Love which has spawned three Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits. Her previous single, “Just Give Me a Reason”, a collaboration with Nate Ruess, is ranked as the most successful in Pink’s career to date. Will her latest keep her streak going? Check out the newly-released video below.
