The upcoming Season 20 of Dancing With The Stars marks the tenth anniversary of the popular dance competition. To mark the milestone, producers have fashioned a brand spanking new gold mirrorball trophy to give to the winner. Personally, I prefer the original one. The gold one looks a little tacky.
So who’s in the running? It’s not the most star-studded cast, but it’s an interesting one. The NFL’s first openly-gay player Michael Sam along with double amputee motivational speaker Noah Galloway provide the eye candy for the Spring 2015 edition. Fingers crossed that their respective female pros put them in very revealing outfits often.
Suzanne Somers and Patti LaBelle are representing for the veterans while Hunger Games actress Willow Shields checks in for the tween demo. Shields, at 14-years-old, is the youngest ever to compete on the show. For me, the addition of Rumer Willis is the most fascinating. I never thought I’d see Bruce Willis or Demi Moore in the audience, but they may just pop up to support their daughter.
The odds-on favorite to take Season 20 is Olympian Nastia Liukin. Athletes have a great track record on the show. To boot, she’s partnered up with the winningest pro, Derek Hough. He wasn’t supposed to take part this season, but the powers-that-be made it happen last minute. Speaking of Hough, his cousin, Riker Lynch, is also one of the stars strapping on their ballroom shoes. Check out the entire cast below, along with watching the reveal on Good Morning America.
I don’t normally recap Dancing With The Stars, but since I’m enjoying this season so much, I thought I’d give it a try. There’s so many people I’m rooting for. Also, the fact the show airs only once a week now instead of two episodes, makes it much more manageable. I love that the performances and eliminations take place all in one jam-packed night. Much less unnecessary filler. However, the producers still manage to draw out the eliminations with their dramatic lighting and music.
The only thing I don’t like about the new format is the glitter pit replacing the celeb aquarium where the stars watched all the action from above. Also, was it necessary to move the judges to the other side of the dance floor? I digress. Check out week two’s performances below and find out who earned the unwanted distinction of being the first boot.
Turns out the rumors were true. Everyone on TMZ’s list is part of Dancing With The Stars Season 17 with a few extra additions. As I had hoped, some male eye candy was added. It comes in the form of Pretty Little Liars actor Brant Daugherty and High School Musical‘s Corbin Bleu.
Speaking of eye candy, my favorite Russian pro dancer Gleb Savchenko isn’t dancing with anyone this year. Former SYTYCD dancer Lindsay Arnold is also missing, along with longtime staple Kym Johnson. Stepping in to replace their shoes are Tyne Stecklein, Emma Slater and Sasha Farber. The latter two were both part of the Dance Troupe for several seasons. Congrats on the promotion.
This year, DWTS is only airing once a week which means both the eliminations and performances will take place on the same night. For those who looked forward to the musical guests, don’t worry. They’ll still appear, but only later in the season when the cast has been whittled away. Without further ado, check out the DWTS Season 17 cast below which was revealed earlier today on Good Morning America.
After watching the season premiere of Dancing With The Stars, I feel content with the predictions I made prior to the first telecast. Most of the celebrities performed as I thought they would with a couple notable exceptions. Both Andy Dick and Wynonna Judd impressed and entertained with their debut performances. That said, I still think they’re going to be eliminated within the first five weeks.
The stars had to dance either a cha cha cha, a foxtrot or a contemporary on the first night. With no results show until Tuesday, March 26, all of them get a second chance to impress viewers next Monday. Check out all the performances below and find out which ones were my three favorites and worst pick.
After going with an All-Stars edition, Dancing With The Stars is going back to basics for Season 16. While I enjoyed seeing returning favorites, I’m looking forward to tonight’s season premiere. While the star wattage isn’t as high as in previous seasons, I already have a few people I’m rooting for. Lisa Vanderpump, I’m talking about you.
Getting a first look at the “celebrities” with their professional partners is always exciting to watch. While I do enjoy witnessing the trainwrecks, I’m more stoked to see who comes bursting out of the gates gunning for the mirrorball trophy. Check out my predictions on how Season 16’s stars will fare.
Without a doubt, Andy Dick will be one of the first to go. I just can’t see the 47-year-old comedian having any sort of rhythm. Former ABC sitcom star DL Hughley might have some dancing prowess, but don’t think he has the fan base to support him. Speaking of fans, everyone knows that country music has diehard ones. Normally I would put Wynonna Judd higher, but with Kellie Pickler also in the competition, I think Judd will suffer and be ousted early.
Also in this bunch is my favorite Lisa Vanderpump. While popular with Housewives addicts (myself included), she probably isn’t well known outside the Bravo universe. Hopefully her signature wit and sass will win over new fans quickly. Last in this list is boxer Victor Ortiz. I’m sure when it comes to demographics, there isn’t much crossover between DWTS and boxing watchers. His chances aren’t helped by being saddled with new professional, Lindsay Arnold either. I thoroughly believe, viewers also vote for their favorite pros.
Sean Lowe must feel like the world has been lifted off those sexy broad shoulders of his. Not only did he have to hide the fact he’s engaged to Catherine Giudici for months, but he was also forbidden to reveal he’s competing on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars. Boy can definitely keep a secret. Loose lips, sinks ships.
“I’ve always said I’m not looking for fame. In fact, I don’t like the fame aspect of The Bachelor or Dancing with the Stars,” Sean explains. “But when an opportunity like Dancing comes along, it’s too good to pass up. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
If Lowe can remotely dance, he’s got Season 16 of DWTS sewn up. America just loves this guy and I don’t blame them. IMHO, Lowe is the only person to survive his season of The Bachelor unscathed. Usually, a previous fan favorite comes off as a famewhore (Jake Pavelka) or dumbass for thinking with his other head (Benjamin Flajnik). Sean broke the trend and came off even more likeable. That’s what happens when you don’t become a man whore on national television. The cherry on top was seeing him cry as he watched his proposal to his Giudici for the first time. Now, that’s a real man.
As if the odds weren’t already in his favor, Sean gets partnered up with Peta Murgatroyd who’s a previous winner. Hopefully, newly-single Peta can keep their chemistry limited to the dance floor. I really want this televised wedding between Catherine and Sean to happen. Don’t you agree? It’ll be the first one ever for The Bachelor. Jason Mesnick’s runner-up wedding doesn’t count. Check out Peta and Sean’s official promo photo below.
It’s not official until you see it in black and white. In this case, in shiny bedazzled colorful skimpy outfits. In other words, DWTS battle fatigues. Up to this point, only the identities of the celebrities coming back for Dancing With The Stars‘ first All-Stars season and their professional dancers have been revealed. Now, we finally have our first look at all the new and returning partnerships ready for battle, beginning on Monday, September 24 on ABC.
Of the thirteen stars fighting for the Season 15 mirrorball, only eleven promo shots have been released. Obviously, the thirteenth spot won’t be filled until Monday, August 27 when the results of the online voting between Kyle Massey, Sabrina Bryan and Carson Kressley will be announced. Personally, I’m hoping for Kyle or Carson.
The other missing photo is of Kirstie Alley and Maks Chmerkovskiy. Could there already be trouble in paradise? Apparently not, according to Alley’s Twitter. The actress revealed she’s been out of town, but will be posing with Maks for their picture next week. In the meantime, check out the couples who managed to make the photoshoot below.
The All-Stars returning for the 15th season of “Dancing With The Stars” finally know who they’ll be dancing with when the dancing competition kicks off on Monday, September 24. Let’s face it. As talented as you are, it all depends on who you get as your professional. Not all DWTS pros were created equal. Plus, you never know what kind of chemistry will result when you put two individuals together.
Of the twelve partnerships, five are previous pairings. Those five lucky stars are probably ecstatic they’re coming back into the competition with a familiar face on their side. It’s interesting to see who the producers decided to saddle which star with each pro. Cheryl Burke has three previous partners returning, while Derek Hough, the most-winning pro with three titles, has no one returning. Find out who they’ll be coaching this season below.
