After teasing us last week, Marvel finally shelled out the goods. At long last, the first full-length movie trailer for the highly anticipated sequel-prequel is here. And it’s everything I’d hope it would be.
The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves in an epic battle that must change the past– to save their future. Watching Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin and Ian McKellan in the same film is going to be phenomenal. To boot, several new faces join the franchise including Booboo Stewart (Warpath), Adan Canto (Sunspot), Fan Bingbing (Blink), Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and Lucas Till (Havok). Check out the X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer below.
On a recent appearance on UK talk show The Jonathan Ross Show, Sir Ian McKellen made a huge announcement. The 73-year-old actor revealed, “I’m going to marry Patrick [Stewart].” Before you send out congratulation cards, it’s not what you think. X-Men mortal enemies Magneto and Professor X aren’t headed to the altar. Rather, McKellan is going to officiate his buddy Stewart’s upcoming wedding. Sir Patrick Stewart (72) is marrying Sunny Ozell- a 34-year-old jazz singer.
This won’t be the first wedding McKellen has presided over. He shared with Jonathan Ross that he’s officiated a civil union between two guys in the UK before. In his words, “I was crying my eyes out.” Just in case you were wondering what he wore to that ceremony, McKellen chose a white gown, “something I bought in India that was rather fetching. You mustn’t upstage the bride.” That Ian is a character. I wonder if he’ll go with the same attire this time around. Check out McKellen’s interview (begins at 9:25 mark) below along with a picture of the happy couple.
Attention all Trekkies and blooper-lovers: The Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 2 Blu-Ray has just been released, and included in its special features is a brand-new gag reel that has never been released before and it’s absolutely hilarious.
With Whoopi Goldberg (who plays Guinan) forgetting her lines, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) in some sexy poses, Worf (Michael Dorn) continuously messing up his lines, and countless scenes where the cast can’t help but burst into laughter.
The new Blu-Ray also includes brand-new documentaries featuring all new cast and crew interviews, original episodic promos, TNG 25th Anniversary Cast Reunion, deleted scenes, and more. Watch the Season 2 outtakes below. I’ve also included the Season 1 gag reel, although it’s not in HD like Season 2 is.
For me, the best X-Men films have been the ones directed by Bryan Singer. As you can imagine, this bit of news put a smile on my face. Singer helmed 2000′s X-Men and its sequel X2, and produced the reboot X-Men: First Class starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. Now, he’s back to direct the sequel… and he’s not coming alone.
The director confirmed via Twitter that he’s recruited two actors from his first two X-Men films. Given that 2014′s X-Men: Days of Future Past will alternate between the present and a dystopian future where mutants are living in internment camps, it makes perfect sense why some of the original cast members are coming back. But exactly who? Have any guesses? Find out below.
In celebration of AJWS‘s 25th anniversary, (American Jewish World Service), a bunch of celebrities got together and made a hilarious PSA for them. The actual organization had a great laugh at the Funny or Die video and even had this to say:
It rocks. So by all means, laugh your tuches off. Enjoy some of the most celebrated names in entertainment (including Ben Stiller, Sarah Silverman, Kiefer Sutherland, Susan Sarandon and, yes, Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog) roasting AJWS as we mark our 25th anniversary. We’re here to amuse.
But along the way we also alleviate poverty, hunger and disease in the developing world (sounds crazy, but it’s what we do.) And to make that happen, we rely on assistance from people like you. So when this achingly funny video ends please consider donating, taking action or signing up for one of our e-mail newsletters. Just click one of the bright, shiny buttons to right of the player. It takes about 13 seconds.
As Patrick Stewart says, “Individuals can change the world. “ And as a Starfleet captain, he should know (even though he’s not Jewish.)
