out 100

OUT magazine celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with the theme “On the Shoulders of Giants.” For it’s annual OUT 100 list, they’re referencing pivotal moments in LGBT history.

As always, they’ve chosen compelling people from all walks of life and fields, ranging from entertainers to athletes, activists, journalists and everything in between to honor. The publication has chosen Sam Smith (Breakout of the Year), Ellen Page (Entertainer of the Year), Zachary Quinto (Artist of the Year) and Samira Wiley (Ingenue of the Year) to grace their four collectible covers. Check out the other covers below and be sure to head to OUT.com to see who made this year’s OUT 100.

“My main aim is to tell people how good its been for me so that, hopefully, gay men or parents with gay children can look at my story and think, Wow, that’s how it should be. That’s what we can work towards.” – Sam Smith

Admittedly, I’m a sucker for year-end lists and just can’t enough of them. So imagine my joy this morning when I learned Out magazine released their Out 100 list. I was like a gay kid in a gay candy store. Oh happy day.

The publication honors the most compelling lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from all walks of life including celebrities, writers, politicians, artists, entrepreneurs and so forth. To celebrate this annual issue, the publication bestowed the honor of gracing the cover to four individuals- Jane Lynch (The Entertainer), Boy George (The Legend), Sharon Needles (The Stylemaker) and Andrew Rannells (The Ingenue). All four covers are fantastic and I can’t decide which one is the best.

A few others that made that made the OUT 100 list include Isis King (ANTM trans model), Michael Urie (Partners), Mika (singer), Elton John & his hubby David Furnish, Patrick Abner & Thomas Roberts (HIV community liaison and MSNBC anchor, newlyweds) and Omar Sharif Jr. (advocate). I also wanted to mention (thank and blame) entrepreneurs Jason Goldberg & Bradford Shellhammer for FAB.com. You don’t even want to know how much I spend over there ;) If you have time, I definitely recommend heading over to OUT.com to check out the pics of each 100 honorees and the story behind them. It’s inspiring and educational. Check out the other covers below.
