Oprah’s Next Chapter has been hit or miss at times for me. For every Rihanna interview, there’s a ridiculous comment comparing Justin Bieber to The Beatles. Regardless of quality inconsistency with her chats, there is no denying Oprah Winfrey’s increased onscreen presence on OWN has reignited the network which has consistently seen month-to-month ratings increases. There is no doubt that momentum will continue when her chat with David Letterman airs on January 6, 2013. Boffo ratings will definitely result.
Everyone likes to think that the Letterman-Winfrey feud began at the Academy Awards when the late night talk show famously bombed on a joke introducing Oprah to Uma Thurman. While horrible, I highly doubt a 16 year feud resulted from that. Legend has it that it began when Letterman and his girlfriend decided to skip out on a bill, tricking the waiter into thinking Oprah agreed to pay it. LOL. Whatever the reason it began, it continued until a little thing called the Super Bowl brought them together.
In 2007, the duo appeared on a couch wearing Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears jerseys. Soon after that, the two appeared on each other’s respective talk shows. Most recently, Winfrey sat down with Letterman for his Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series at Ball State University. Now, the two are once again sitting down. This time on Oprah’s turf. Check out the preview below along with what they’re reportedly chatting about. It’s good.
On Sunday, November 25 on Oprah’s Next Chapter, global superstar Justin Bieber, who took away more trophies than anyone else last night at the American Music Awards, sits down with Oprah Winfrey in a one-on-one interview.
Some clips from the interview have been released, including Oprah and Bieber talking about Selena Gomez, shopping, and how he deals with the fame. Oprah is really building this one up, saying, “In 1993, I did an interview that went live around the world within 24 hours with Michael Jackson. Not since then have I done an interview like this…with Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber is a phenomenon for our time. And just like Elvis Presley, and just like The Beatles and also like Michael Jackson, he has millions of screaming fans all over the world who adore him.”
The episode will air in more than 100 countries worldwide premiering on Sunday, November 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on OWN. Get your first look at the interview below.
You think you know everything about Justin Bieber? Think again. One of the world’s favorite interviewers, Oprah Winfrey literally just finished her sit down chat with one of the world’s biggest popstars along with his famed manager, Scooter Braun. After pictures started appearing on Instragram via Scooter and Justin, it was quickly confirmed that both had joined Oprah for an episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter.
Yesterday, Oprah was a special guest on Good Morning America and gave the viewers a sneak preview of what to expect during her sit down with the Biebs. Oprah took Justin to her favorite restaurant in Chicago for a meal and afterwards, the two hit Ralph Lauren to doing a little shopping. Justin also serenaded the crowd outside the restaurant. Justin’s episode will debut on November 24th worldwide- Oprah’s biggest television broadcast since Michael Jackson in 1993. First look preview below.
This coming Sunday, a new episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter with air and this time her celebrity one on one is with Black Eyed Peas singer and multi-platinum solo artist Fergie. A while back, the first preview came out and we got a taste of what to expect, with Fergie talking about her past drug use, career, and what it was like going through the rumours that Josh Duhamel had cheated on her with a stripper.
Now some extended clips have been revealed from the episode where we see a little more of what to expect. In one of the clips below, you actually see her reaction to Oprah Winfrey when she asks her about the cheating rumor and how it affected their relationship. In another clip, we learn what Duhamel says he loves about his wife. Of course he loves watching Fergie, perform onstage—but that’s not what has kept their nine-year relationship strong. He Josh shares a side of Fergie the world doesn’t get to see. Fergie also talks about the yin and the yang of her working relationship with BEP front man will.i.am. and why she calls him her “work husband”.
The episode airs this Sunday, October 21 at 9/8c. Get a sneak peek at the episode below.
Just days ago, OWN announced the Oprah Winfrey would be bringing back her Oprah’s Favorite Things special this fall, after everyone thought it was done. I’m so excited about the November 2-hour special and can’t wait to see the look on the faces of the military wives when Oprah breaks the news to them.
For November’s issue of Harper’s Bizarre, Oprah was photographed by the amazing Terry Richardson and the photos look amazing. Winfrey was styled by Ann Caruso in a fire engine red Jil Sander coat, a white Escada menswear-inspired tux, and a smattering of blinged-out rings. She. Looks. Fabulous. In the issue, she explains to her interviewer, Laura Brown that she just tries to “live her best life” and is no superwoman. Says Oprah, “Like this morning, I had the intention to meditate for 20 minutes, but I really only made it about 12. And then I said, ‘Okay, don’t beat yourself up; you did the 12.’ I had the intention to work out for an hour, but I only did a half. And even with that I was still a half hour later getting here, so…”
Nicole Kidman also looks stunning in the issue, gracing the cover of the magazine as well. I’ve included Oprah’s pictures as well as the cover featuring Kidman below. Enjoy!
The word on the street is that Oprah Winfrey and her network OWN are doing much better these days, after a difficult start. Now, she’s ready to give back the way she does best – Oprah’s Favorite Things.
The network announced on Friday that the annual giveaway show would return as a two-hour special on OWN at 8-10 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, November 18. “You get a car, you get a car, you get a car!” What surprises will she have in store for the unsuspecting audience? I can’t wait to find out. I’m especially excited to see their reactions because as far as everyone knew, Oprah wasn’t doing the big giveaway anymore. The audience for this episode was an unsuspecting group of deserving military spouses. Oprah, her staff and her team of experts will also take viewers behind the scenes to show how it all comes together.
Viewers will also have the opportunity to Watch and Win select items featured within segments of the show. By texting the correct key word to a short code at designated points throughout the premiere airing, viewers will be entered into a drawing to win some of Oprah’s Favorite Things from 2012. Additional details on how to enter will be available starting November 1 online at www.oprah.com/favoritethings.
The Butler is a film coming in 2013 about a White House butler that served eight American Presidents over the course of three decades. The cast is actually quite unreal. There’s Robin Williams as Dwight D. Eisenhower; Melissa Leo as Mamie Eisenhower; Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan; Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan; James Marsden as JFK; John Cusack as Tricky Dick Nixon; Liev Schreiber as Lyndon B. Johnson; Nelsan Ellis as Martin Luther King, Jr; as well as Forest Whitaker, Vanessa Redgrave, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, Alex Pettyfer, Cuba Gooding Jr, Terrence Howard and as mentioned in my title, Oprah Winfrey.
The film was inspired by Wil Haygood’s Washington Post article about an African-American man who served as a butler (Forest Whitaker, as shown in the header photo) in the Whitehouse for eight presidents over three decades. On Monday, Oprah tweeted the photo below that shows her looking all sultry while smoking a cigarette and sitting next to Terrance Howard. Oprah says, “And THAT’s a Wrap! Terrance Howard and me in our goodbye”love scene.” Check out the photo she is referring to below.
Last night on Oprah’s Next Chapter, R&B superstar Usher sat down with Oprah Winfrey in his home and opened up about everything. Since Oprah had been trying to get an interview with him for years, she took this opportunity to grill him about everything. Usher has had some big ups and downs recently and nothing was off limits.
Oprah talked about his controversial marriage to ex-wife Tameka Foster, allegedly firing his mom from managing his career, his recent custody battle of his kids, and even the death of his stepson earlier this summer. He also talked about his father who was absent for all of his life, and then reuniting with him a while back before he died a year later.
It’s a very interesting interview and really worth checking out. Thankfully if you missed it, I have included the entire episode below. PS. Oprah even asks if he’s ever made love with his own music in the background. LOL. Find out what he said when you watch it.
