When it comes to female sexuality, there’s probably no better experts than the Victoria’s Secret Angels. Have you seen those tall beyotches strut their stuff on the glittered runway of the brand’s annual fashion show? I admit, as a gay man, I probably have an unhealthy fascination with all things VS-related. When you add an annual list to the mix, you know I’m all over it.
Watch as Behati Prinsloo, Karlie Kloss, Erin Heatherton, Candice Swanepoel and Alessandra Ambrosio reveal the winners of Victoria’s Secret 8th annual list of sexiest celebrities in Hollywood. A few of the sexy honorees include Amanda Seyfried (Sexiest Hair), Blake Lively (Sexiest Legs), Kerry Washington (Sexiest Lips) and Jennifer Lawrence (Sexiest Sense of Humor) to name a few. Check out all the winners below.
In terms of prestige and correctly predicting the Oscars, the Screen Actors Guild Awards are one of the most important stops during the long awards season. But regarding fashion, they pale in comparison to the Golden Globes and the big event itself, the Academy Awards. Most starlets and nominees save their big couture guns for those two events. That said, any red carpet during this time is important to win over the public and also perhaps some Academy voters. At the very least, impress fashion designers by showing off your red carpet prowess. That way, you become their first choice at the next huge event.
For my SAGs fashion roundup, I picked my five best and five worst dressed actresses, along with other stars who I was on the fence. Keep in mind that fashion is highly-subjective. As I was researching who designed what dress, I found that sometimes a star would be on a best list and other times on the worst. Fashion is definitely a tricky game to manipulate.
Can you tell we’re in the heart of awards season? On Wednesday, the People’s Choice Awards took place. On Thursday, the Oscar nominations were announced and this Sunday it’s the Golden Globes turn to take front and center. Sandwiched in between all that action were the 18th Critics’ Choice Awards.
Ben Affleck experienced heartbreak earlier in the day when the Academy snubbed him for Best Director, despite Argo earning seven Oscar nominations. What a difference a few hours make, the 40-year-old walked away with Best Directing honors from the Broadcast Film Critics Association, and Best Picture for Argo. This was Affleck’s Oscars. Clearly, the Academy is still punishing him for Gigli ;)
The big winner of the night was Silver Linings Playbook scoring Best Comedy Movie, Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy and Best Ensemble. The film’s female lead Jennifer Lawrence also nabbed a win for her role in The Hunger Games to match her Silver Linings Playbook Best Actress statue. Not only was Lawrence the critics’ darling, but she also wowed fashinistas everywhere. After a ho-hum fashion showing at the People’s Choice, girl revved it up for the Critics’ Choice. Hands down the best dressed. Check out other noteworthy fashion statements below.
Last night, just before the 2012 MTV Movie Awards went to air, the highly anticipated trailer for “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” finally debuted. The film is based on the high school-coming of age novel written by Stephen Chbosky who has also helmed the project as director. The story explores topics like introversion and the awkwardness that sometimes comes with being an adolescent.
The story takes place in Pittsburgh between 1991 and 1992 with lead character Charlie being a freshman in high school. The film features a star studded cast including Emma Watson, Paul Rudd and The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev.
The film will debut in the US this fall on September 14. Check out the newly debuted trailer and tell us if you’ll be checking it out this fall in the comments below.
Last night, CBS housed the People’s Choice Awards hosted by Kaley Cuoco of the networks hit comedy, The Big Bang Theory. The show opened with a hilarious concept of Kaley playing her character from the show as her and the rest of cast got ready to watch the show and cast their votes for the nominees. Suddenly, her agent calls her to attend the show as a seat filler but once she gets there, switches gears and begins to the host the show. While going through her opening monologue, she’s interrupted by Neil Patrick Harris who is sitting in the audience and wearing a mic. Not today NPH, not today.
The show moved along surprisingly quick with only two musical acts throughout the show. The first came courtesy of comeback kid, Demi Lovato who rocked it out in a red dress. The second performance was from Faith Hill who did her country rendition of OneRepublic’s Come Home.
The show also scored a few highlights including a great kiss shared between Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka when Neil won for favorite TV comedy actor. Another slam dunk was Jane Lynch’s portrayal of the show’s seat coordinator. Interviewed by ET’s Mark Stenis, she showed the audience just how she “decides” where celebrities sit. The cast of Pretty Little Liars presented a few categories themselves and the biggest miss of the night goes the horrible CVS Pharmacy product placement stint which went on for far too long. Check out the full winner’s circle and some of my favorite moments in video form below.
If you watch the Emmys to see who walks away with the statue, then check out Tyrell’s post to check out all the winners. But if you’re like me and think seeing what the ladies are wearing on the red carpet is equally as important, then you’re in the right place. Being the official kick-off to the new Fall television season, you know publicists had to be working overtime to ensure their clients dazzled on the red carpet. While some fizzled, a surprisingly high amount sparkled brightly. I narrowed down those well-put together actresses and compiled my Top 10 favorites. Check out my list and see if you agree.
The SNL funny lady isn’t typically the person that pops to mind when you think of sexy red carpet style, but you might want to rethink that after seeing her in this plunging Zac Posen dress. I’m a big fan of stars wearing brown on the red carpet and this is exactly why. The ombre effect on the fabric is shimmery flawlessness.
At Comic-Con fans for the CW hit The Vampire Diaries were treated to a first look at the sizzler reel for the upcoming third season of the show. For those of us like myself who weren’t at comic-con, had to hear via the internet about this scene where a soap sudded and naked Ian Somerhalder stood infront of a shocked Nina Dubrev in the Salvatore house.
While filming was not permitted (obviously) during the screening, the CW and Warner Brothers have finally allowed for the clip to surface online. I personally do not watch this particular show but the more and more I see clips, the more I want to go back to Season 1 and catch myself up. I know cast member Adam is highly addicted.
From what I understand, the sizzle reel is actually 3 minutes and change of scenes and clips from the first two seasons to get you excited about what is to come this year. However, after all is said and done, we get our first look at season three the scene that everyone is talking about. While don’t see much who doesn’t even like a glimpse of Ian without clothes on.
Last night, the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards took place in Toronto, and was co-hosted by Selena Gomez. Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga opened up the show with her new single “The Edge Of Glory”. Although the set was similar to her new music video for the song, I was much more entertained by this live performance as she had a bunch of backup dancers to interact with. It was a great way to kick off the show! After her performance, Far East Movement and Dev performed, followed by Snoop Dogg. I have to say, year after year, this award show keeps getting better and better. Oh, and Lady Gaga also closed the show with an encore performance, singing “Born This Way”.
One thing that did bother me was when Vampire Diaries star, Nina Dobrev was onstage as a presenter (before her boyfriend Ian Somerhalder joined her). When talking about the lively crowd in at the show, she essentially said that Toronto knew to celebrate, unlike Vancouver. Then said “Too soon?” Ugh, annoying.
The Video of the Year went to Shawn Desman for “Electric/Night Like This“, directed by RT (the man behind six of this year’s nominated videos). Superstars, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber each picked up two awards. Check out the full list of winners below.
