Must be nice to have so much disposable income. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary by renewing their vows in front of Cinderella’s Castle at Disneyland. The 43-year-old singer and American Idol judge wore a white princess-like wedding gown with a sparkly headpiece, while Cannon was clad in Prince Charming’s finest. Personally, I don’t get the whole fascination with having a princess wedding theme, but to each their own.
About 250 guests mingled on the chilly night in Fantasyland for the reception, which Cannon deejayed. I wonder if Nicki Minaj was invited ;) The park was reportedly closed to the public so guests could take advantage of the rides and attractions. The park was decorated with 10,000 crystals for the occasion, along with about 15,000 flowers imported from South Africa, Holland and France.
In 2008, Carey and Cannon married in the Bahamas. Each subsequent year, they renew their vows in some sort of elaborate manner. Last year, they did it atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Hopefully, the duo live happily ever after, unlike another high-profile celebrity couple who renewed their vows on a yearly basis. We all know what happened with Heidi Klum and Seal. In addition to celebrating their love, it was also the couple’s twin’s- Monroe and Moroccan– second birthday. Check out Mariah Carey’s Vine below to check out their special night.
A couple of weeks ago, NBC officially named Melanie Brown aka Scary Spice as Sharon Osbourne’s replacement on America’s Got Talent. Almost immediately, rumors surfaced that Mel B. wasn’t the only new face to join show’s eighth season. Like many of the international editions of the Got Talent franchise, the US version was contemplating a four person judging panel. Based on a photo obtained by TMZ, it’s actually happening.
Taping for the first set of auditions begins in New Orleans tomorrow. If you watch the show, you know that huge ‘X’s appear above the stage representing each judge. Sandwiched in between Mel B and Howard Stern’s names is this celebrity. Have any guesses? Here’s a hint. This person hosts their own reality competition series on a different network. Could it be Jeff Probst? After all, his daytime talk show was recently canceled. Or has Ryan Seacrest decided to finally give critiques instead of relaying them? Find out who below.
Mariah Carey recently sat down for a one-on-one interview with Barbara Walters where she talked about her experience on American Idol thus far and with that also talked about the Nicki Minaj feud. The two female judges have apparently since reconciled by are rumored to be sitting on opposite sides fo the panel. Barbara also asked if $18 million was in the ballpark for how much she’s getting paid for being a judge and Carey reluctantly answered that yes, that’s in the ballpark.
Aside from American Idol, Walters asked about her relationship with the sexy Nick Cannon and showed some never before seen clips of the two of them in Paris on the Eiffel Tower. She also talked about how it is raising the twins and about her music career.
The season premiere of American Idol takes place on Wednesday, January 16 & Thursday, January 17 at 8/7c on FOX. Check out the Walters / Carey interview below.
Get ready for the premiere of Real Husbands of Hollywood, premiering later this month on BET. It’s a new scripted non-reality show, making fun of the Real Housewives franchise and focussing on the sexy men instead of the women.
The show stars Robin Thicke, Kevin Hart, Boris Kodjoe, Nick Cannon, Duane Martin, and J.B. Smoove and looks freaking hilarious. In one of the promos for the show, the guys each give their own reasons why they believe they are the star of the show and Thicke says that he’s the star because he’s a “sexy bitch“. LOL. There are few other promo videos from the show that I have included, one where another of the “Husbands” explains what a “Mitch” is…. a male version of a bitch. LOL.
Enjoy the funny preview material below and tune into the premiere episode on Tuesday, January 15 at 10/9c on BET.
It’s sorta fitting that Mariah Carey’s music video for “Triumphant Get ‘Em” is set in a boxing ring. The track isn’t being well received and so far a commercial flop. In its first week of sales, it moved only 23,000 units, landing it below Billboard’s Hot 100. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s latest breakup anthem is looking to sell about 600,000 out of the gate, making it the fastest selling song ever by a female artist. Sorry Mariah, but it looks like Swift has knocked you out after the first round.
Truth be told, “Triumphant Get ‘Em” isn’t that bad when you get rid of both the rap interludes. I’m all down for a bit of hip-hop swagger, but there is just too much focus away from Carey for her comeback single. You can definitely tell how much better it would be if Mariah was solely on the track. Just listen to the official remixes, which are way better than the original composition. I’ve embedded five below for you to check out.
Carey decided to hire husband Nick Cannon to direct the music video for “Triumphant”. If you like a lot of gold, boxing and a midriff-wearing Carey then you’re going to love it. If not, you’re out of luck. Mariah is seen prancing around trying to look sexy on the ropes, manhandle a gold mic, and hold up signs. This is not what a woman with multiple Grammys and a voice like hers should be doing. I miss the Mariah of “Always Be My Baby” and “Emotions” era. Someone call Tommy Mottola.
It’s almost fitting near the end of the music video, glitter falls down from the ceiling. We all remember what happened last time Carey worked with “glitter”… a huge box office and recording bomb. Check out the newly-released visual below.
If you thought Brandy taking on Monica over the “boy” was epic, check out these two girl groups fighting over the heart of a hot DJ. This time, the battle takes place on the dance floor. Bring it on, beyotches. Ever since girl group phenomenon Wonder Girls became the first K-pop group to chart on Billboard’s Hot 100 with their global smash “Nobody“, the group has been strategizing their road to US domination.
I don’t know many K-pop acts, but I do adore the Wonder Girls. Ever since I saw numerous YouTube clips mimicking the choreography from their “Nobody” music video, I instantly fell in love with the catchy track. The girls were supposed to launch their first English album last year, but never came to fruition despite working with big name producers. Hopefully, this brand new video is the signaling of more music from the girl group.
The five ladies are taking a page out of Nick Cannon’s School Gyrls. His group launched their first album after appearing in a made-for-television movie on Nickelodeon. The Korean pop group’s upcoming Teen Nick movie “The Wonder Girls” premieres on February 2 and features the School Gyrls. The collaboration for the two girl groups doesn’t stop just there, they duetted on “The DJ Is Mine”. The track is in the vein of Brandy and Monica’s classic “The Boy Is Mine“. They work out their best dance moves hoping to catch the eye of the DJ. Unlike Brandy & Monica’s video, there is a winner in this battle. Find out who below.
As RuPaul would say, “Condragulations” are in order for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Actually, double congratulations are more appropriate since the couple welcomed twins. Coincidentally, the babies’ birth date fell on the same date as Cannon and Carey’s fourth wedding anniversary. How convenient. Their first born was a girl coming in at 18 inches long and weighing 5lbs and 3 oz. Her little brother weighed 5lbs and 6 oz and measured at 19 inches.
According to Carey’s rep Cindi Berger, the couple listened to Carey’s hit song “We Belong Together” after the children were born. Does everyone else agree with me when I say “GAG”. I kid. It wouldn’t be celebrity news if a tweet didn’t follow shortly thereafter. Nick tweeted “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won’t ever be able to top this!”
Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon have officially announced today that they’re expecting. “Yes we are pregnant – this is true,” says Carey to Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush in an interview that airs today. In addition to confirming the pregnancy, they shed some light on some of the challenges they have face in keeping it on the down low:
“It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to maintain a shred of privacy.” She added, “It kind of shook us both and took us to a place that was really dark and difficult. When that happened, I wasn’t able to even to talk to anybody about it. That was not easy.”
Despite those difficulties, they seem to be extremely excited about the baby. “The greatest gift on earth is a child,” says Cannon. “We’ve had names picked out from the first day we met and we want to stay true to that.”
