Poor guy. Imagine if your first day flub was recorded for the world to see. That’s exactly what happened to A.J. Clemente.
As the rookie news anchor was trying to pronounce London marathon winner Tsegaye Kebede’s name, the cameras began rolling. What viewers of KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota saw and heard was Clemente uttering “F–kin’ s–t.” As his co-anchor Van Tieu began her spiel, A.J. remained clueless that he was on air. It wasn’t until a few seconds later that he realized what was going on and looked visibly shocked. When Tieu asked him to tell viewers about himself, he fumbled with his words.
“I graduated from West Virginia University, and I’m used to, um, you know, from being from the East Coast.”
Believe it or not, there were complaints to the station. Who does that? Clearly, it was his first day and made an innocent mistake. Lighten up people. KFYR-TV news director Monica Hannan quickly addressed them on the channel’s Facebook page.
“He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that’s no excuse. WE train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time. Unfortunately, that was not enough in this case. WE can’t take back what was said. The person involved has been suspended until we resolve the situation. All we can do at this point is ask for your forgiveness, and I can offer my personal assurance that I will do my best to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again under my watch.”
That suspension only lasted a few moments as AJ was eventually let go. He tweeted the following.
“Rookie mistake. I’m a free agent.Cant help but laugh at myself and stay positive.Wish i didnt trip over my “Freaking Shoes” out of the gate.” – A.J. Clemente @ClementeAJ
Another month has already gone by and with that has come another batch of the Best News Bloopers for the month of March. Both the January and February editions were quite hilarious, and this one has some pretty funny incidents as well.
About a week ago, I actually wrote about one specific live news prank that happened this month where the anchor wished a happy birthday to Huge Anus without realizing what he had said. One of the other anchors just loses it when he hears it and needless to say, this blooper definitely made the cut for March’s best news bloopers. My favorite one in this montage is where a female news anchor (shown top left in the header photo) accidentally says something pretty dirty and simply can’t recover from it as she breaks down into laughter.
Enjoy the video below!
I’m sure you’re familiar with those phone pranks where someone asks something like “Is Amanda Huggenkiss there?” LOL. Well, a similar thing just happened to a weatherman. Henry DiCarlo, a KTLA morning news weatherman, got tricked into wishing “Huge Anus” a happy birthday on the live TV newscast. If course it must have read, Hugh Janus, but that’s not how it sounded. A fellow anchor burst out laughing before DiCarlo realized what he had said and they were all in stitches for quite a while before they could recover.
Watch the funny prank / news blooper below. Have a great weekend!
With February wrapping up this week, it’s the perfect time to share the best news bloopers from this month with you. There were lots to laugh to in January, and February definitely doesn’t disappoint either. There’s just something about messing up your lines or random (and funny) things happening on live television that I just love watching. It’s amazing how so many good line flubs can happen each and every month.
In the very first clip on the montage, a female news anchor in Canada is telling her male co-anchor about how when her baby was teething, he used to take the big fat rubber end of her vibrating toothbrush and shove it in his mouth. She then proceeds to do the action and verbalize what she felt he would have been saying if he could talk. As you can imagine, the whole conversation and visual looks and sounds very dirty and her co-anchor can barley contain himself.
Enjoy the bloopers video montage below. Can’t wait to see what March has in store for us!
Normally these news blooper compilations don’t start to come out until later in the year. This year, however, with combination of so many bloopers having taken place in January 2013 and someone being really on it with putting these clips together already, the first batch of “laugh out loud” news flubs is here.
From news anchors not knowing that the camera is already rolling, to crazy unexpected incidents that are live on location, or unforgiving slip of the tongue flubs, it’s everything you hope for in a video montage like this. There’s even a clip of Meredith Vieira with Hoda Kotb where Vieira doesn’t realize the camera is rolling and says, “Sh*t!” which totally caused Kotb to lose it and burst into laughter. Towards the end of the video, we see Al Roker going crazy over trying to get President Obama and Vice President Biden‘s attention at the Presidential Inauguration. Over and over, he’s shouting at the top of his lungs, “Mr. President! Mr. President! Mr. President!!…”

I freaking love news bloopers. When you’re on television and it’s live, literally anything can happen. I posted about some news anchor bloopers earlier this year, but this new compilation has some new goodies that I hadn’t seen yet that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
Whether it’s the anchor jumbling up their words and saying something inappropriate, people doing something inappropriate in the background, or something hilarious randomly happening that throws everyone off, it’s hilarious to watch. As a side note, we were filming a new episode of Homorazzi the other day and I had my own hilarious slip of the tongue. I was talking about The Carrie Diaries essentially being the show that fills the time slot for Gossip Girl, but I accidently said something like, “it’s what’s filling Gossip Girl‘s hole“. Needless to say, we all lost it and burst into laughter – I can’t wait to see that episode.

Global BC News is one of the top two news stations in British Columbia, if not the top, and the whole team from the TV station just revealed a holiday-themed “Call Me Maybe” lip-dub that they made and it’s definitely worth checking out.
I know you’re probably thinking, not another one… but this is the first I’ve seen done by a news station and not only is it very well done, it looks like they had an absolute blast doing it. Watch for my friend Peter dressed in a sailor’s hat during the part where they are in the digital studio. The video even wraps up with the whole crew doing a bit of “Gangnam Style” in the parking lot.
The video was actually shot on Halloween (as you’ll notice by all the costumes) and was made for their Shaw Christmas Party which took place this past Saturday… and they won. The video was filmed over a copule hours on Halloween morning. Not surprisingly, it was raining that morning so the staff got soaked when filming the “Gangnam Style” part in the parking lot.
I love watching footage or clips of live news anchor bloopers and the video you’re about to watch definitely falls into that category.
WGN-TV Morning News anchors Larry Potash and Robin Baumgarten “winged” their way through the footage of a faux crash near 29th Street and Martin Luther King Drive in Chicago, around 8am this past Friday. The describe what they’re able to see from the footage they’re seeing on the screen until they get word through their ear piece that what they’re seeing is actually for a television show.
Once they were told what was actually going on, a baffled and annoyed Baumgarten then keeps repeating, “Are you kidding me!?” She adds, “They might want to tell the news folks when they’re doing this and shutting down King Drive.” Watch the clip of all of this below.
