Logo recently announced the nominees for their annual NewNowNext Awards. Now in its sixth year, this highly praised and always unpredictable telecast is one big party that grants the gay stamp of approval to pop culture icons and trendsetters as well as stars-on-the-rise and celebrates what’s hot in TV, music, film and fashion for 2013 and beyond.
If you haven’t watch the NewNowNext Awards, they’re a lot of fun. With irreverent and outrageous categories including “Hottest, Sexiest Ink,” “Host with the Most,” “That’s My Jam” and “TV You Betta Watch,” the ceremony is always fun to watch. My personal favorite is the “Cause You’re Hot” award. All of the nominees are definitely worthy of the win. I covered the red carpet and ceremony a couple of years ago and think its time to check them out again. Especially given the caliber of the nominees. I love star gazing.
Winners will be revealed Monday, April 15th at 10/9C, during the 90-minute Logo NewNowNext Awards 2013 telecast. The special will be taped in front of a live audience of today’s hottest emerging and seasoned artists at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA on April 13th. Does this woman ever age? At 42-years-old, Naomi Campbell is as stunning as ever. The British beauty posed for a fashion editorial photographed by Thomas Whiteside for ELLE magazine. Along with looking fierce as a giant lamp shade (see pic below), the supermodel dishes about her upcoming reality show on Oxygen. I can’t wait. Fingers crossed it’s everything ANTM fans have been starving for.
“The first time I saw her cry in an elimination I thought, She’s in this,” says Rod Aissa, Oxygen Media’s senior vice president. “The public will see the Naomi that her friends know. That doesn’t come across in a picture, but it does come across on television.”
The premiere of The Face airs on February 12 at 9 pm. Campbell describes it as a combination of America’s Next Top Model and The Voice. Naomi is one of three leggy bombshells in charge of mentoring the contestants. Karolina Kurkova and Coca Rocha are the other two. Speaking of ANTM, Campbell talks about her former nemisis’ reality show. Back in the 90s and early part of 2000s, the two were rivals and that’s putting it nicely. Read her response regarding ANTM and about that infamous cell phone throwing incident below.

Oh snap!!! Nigel Barker certainly isn’t holding back his feelings regarding his old gig, America’s Next Top Model. To be perfectly honest, he’s only preaching the gospel. Tyra Banks certainly drove ANTM into the ground and made it into one huge joke. The show had such potential early on to truly find fashion industry’s next “big” things. Instead, it became a showcase for Banks and all her cray cray delusions.
“Whereas ‘ANTM‘ was often times a bit of a caricature of the modeling business, ‘The Face‘ isn’t,” Barker says in the promo clip below. It’s all about real clients, real jobs and a look at the modeling industry as you’ve never seen it before. Based on the short teaser released, it certainly has potential. Words can’t even describe how excited I am for the show’s premiere on the Oxygen network in February 2013.
Even though I adore Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha and glad they’re on the show as team captains and mentors, the real draw here is Naomi Campbell. That woman is a supermodel legend and one scary ass bitch. That combination is what makes her so effin’ awesome. In a video below she sternly delivers, “If you have the camera on the right, where should your head be?” FIERCE. Even my knees were quivering when I heard that and I’m not even the one it was directed to.
Campbell’s team shouldn’t be the only ones that should fear her. Her fellow mentor Kurkova is the target of couple of zingers herself. Check these two out: “You’re an idiot and now your team is going to lose,” and “I’m very disappointed in your choice, Karolina. All I’m going to tell you is that it’s game on from now on.” Classic Naomi. All that’s missing is a cellphone being thrown around ;) Check out all the promos below.

Disney and Barney’s New York have just released a new video called “Electric Holiday” to get people (and cartoons) excited about holiday fashion.
As the video starts off, Minnie Mouse finds herself on a fashion adventure in Paris at a fashion show where she and all the other Disney characters will be walking the runway in Lanvin. They get their makeup done, but it’s Tinkerbell’s magic touch that turns these cute characters, into runway divas. Minnie and essentially becomes “Skinny Minnie“.
Watch as Minnie embarks on a fantastical fashion adventure in Paris, where she walks the runway in Lanvin and rubs elbows with the cartoon version of fashion-world figures like Linda Evangelista, Daphne Guinness, Naomi Campbell, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga and many more. There are so many Disney characters in it too – either walking the runway, or in the audience like Cinderella‘s evil stepmother and step sisters, Drizella and Anastasia.
Apparently, the old adage “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” needs to be updated to “hell hath no fury like a former male model scorned”. Based on Nigel Barker’s new gig, I would say he was plenty scorned. Barker was part of the massive cast shake-up over at “America’s Next Top Model“, along with Jay Manuel and Jay Alexander. At the time, both Barker and Tyra Banks issued statements that were filled with rainbows and unicorns regarding him leaving ANTM. I wonder how Banks feels about it now.
Oxygen network just announced that Barker is hosting their upcoming modeling competition titled, “The Face“. Here’s the kicker… he’ll now be working with Tyra’s former modeling rival Naomi Campbell. Somewhere out there, Tyrant is pulling out her weave. LOL.
The reality show is looking for a model to become “the face” of a major national brand. Campbell will be one of three judges who will lead their respective team of would-be models towards becoming the spokesperson for the not-yet-revealed brand. Find out the other two supermodels involved in the project. That’s right, we have real supermodels involved.

They battled it out on the fashion runways in the early 90s, and it looks like they’ll face off once again- this time in the Neilsen ratings. The Oxygen network just announced a brand new modeling competition titled “The Face“. The winner of the show will score a national spokesmodel gig for a major brand. Taking a cue from “The Voice”, the show will group the contestants into teams where they are mentored by established models. Enter Naomi Campbell. The British stunner will be one of three models being recruited to mentor the young models.
“The Face is a fresh new series that delivers all the elements our audience craves: fashion, beauty and drama,” Rod Aissa, the network’s Senior Vice President of Original Programming and Development said in a statement. “Oxygen has been looking for the next ideation in the modeling genre and this project delivers it.”
While some of Campbell’s compatriots entered the reality genre years ago, “The Face” will mark Naomi’s debut with the format. She’ll join Heidi Klum and Elle Macpherson who host “Project Runway” and “Fashion Star” respectively. But the one comparison which will be inevitably made is with Tyra Banks. The two infamously were at odds with each other during the supermodel era and feuded for more than a decade. They finally squashed their “rivalry” during an awkward sit down on Tyra Banks former daytime talk show. Tyra so badly wanted closure from Naomi regarding her “Mean Girls” treatment during Tyra’s early career.
“I am looking forward to working in partnership with Oxygen and Shine America to discover the next beautiful face of the modeling world,” – Naomi Campbell

They’re baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. Some of the original supermodels of the 90s are gracing a fashion magazine cover once again. It’s great to see some of them back. Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova and Yasmin Le Bon are showing the newbies and actresses how it’s done. Hopefully, this signals the return of the supermodel era. The OGs (originals) have not only joined forces for Harper Bazaar UK’s December 2011 cover and photo editorial, but also for a short film for Duran Duran.
Directed by the genius that is Jonas Akerlund, the supermodels pose as members of Duran Duran for the group’s new short film SLASH music video for “Girl Panic“. Think of it as a modern-day George Michael “Freedom 90” model-filled music video. Crawford also starred in that iconic clip. The real-life members of Duran Duran make cameos in the visual as bellhops, paparazzi and chauffeurs. D&G designers, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, also make an appearance.
“We have made some pretty ambitious videos over the years, but this one was certainly the most challenging to date,” Simon Le Bon, lead singer of Duran Duran said. “Coordinating the schedules of five of the world’s biggest super models, Jonas, and the band was no easy task – but we couldn’t be happier with the finished film. It has all of the ingredients that we feel are important – it’s humorous, glamorous, sexy and very Duran Duran.”

Supermodel Naomi Campbell is livid over a Cadbury Bliss ad that likens her to chocolate. The ad says, “Move over Naomi – there is a new diva in town.” Of course, the new diva is the chocolate bar. I should mention that the photo above has nothing to do with the ad in question. That photo was taken by David Chapelle a long time ago, captioning her as “chocolate playmate”. Hmm, but she’s okay with that though…? Anyway, the actual ad you’ll see below. I think it was awfully bold of Cadbury to put an ad with text like that (including her name) out there without considering it could be taken as racist. Even if it was meant to be lighthearted, these days you have to assume people will take it the wrong way and you’re better safe than sorry.
Campbell explained, “I am shocked. It’s upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful.” Her mother, Valerie Morris added, “I’m deeply upset by this racist advert. Do these people think they can insult black people and we just take it? This is the 21st century, not the 1950s. Shame on Cadbury.”
Cadbury responded to the criticism by explaining that the ad was “a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss”. He then said that the ad is “no longer in circulation… we have no plans to repeat the campaign.” See the ad in question below:
