Ben-Hur Remake Debuts Epic First Trailer

In: Donovan, Movies

The chariot race in the original 1959 film is one of the most iconic scenes in cinematic history. To boot, Ben-Hur won 11 Academy Awards and is considered one of the greatest films ever made. That’s a lot to live up to and based on the first look, the filmmakers haven’t embarrassed themselves. The remake looks pretty epic in its own right.

Stepping into Charlton Heston’s shoes to play Judah Ben-Hur is Jack Huston, Angelica Huston’s nephew. Morgan Freeman dons fierce dreads to play Sheik Ilderim, the man who trains Ben-Hur. Playing his holiness Jesus Christ is Rodrigo Santoro. Fun fact. Pope Francis blessed Rodrigo before production began in Rome. Talk about a ringing endorsement. Rounding out the cast are Toby Kebbell, Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zurer, and Sofia Black D’Elia.

Ben-Hur 2016 Remake Synopsis

BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.

Ben-Hur races into theaters on August 12, 2016. Check out the first trailer below.

Vanity Fair sure loves their dramatic readings. Fresh off their clip featuring numerous celebrities at their annual Oscar party reciting Kanye West’s Twitter rants, comes this new gem.

Morgan Freeman gives Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” a dramatic makeover. With his iconic silky voice, the smash hit takes on a whole different vibe.

This isn’t the first time the glossy has given this treatment to a Bieber track. Jon Hamm, John Krasinski and others previously did the same with “Sorry.” Check out both clips below. Freeman’s facial expressions are everything.

Ever been extremely lost and wished for divine intervention? Well, now you can have the next best thing to God. Morgan Freeman, who’s been the voice of the Almighty on screen a couple of times, has partnered up with Waze.

The GPS navigation app, founded in Israel in 2007 and acquired by Google in 2013, has tapped veteran actor Morgan Freeman to lend his velvety voice. For a limited time only, his dulcet tones can guide you to the nearest Starbucks, gas station or bathhouse 😉

The endorsement is part of marketing tie-in for Freeman’s new film London Has Fallen, the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen. Apparently, he’ll address you, the driver, as if you’re the president of the US. Freeman now joins the likes of Stephen Colbert, Kevin Hart, Arnold Schwarzenegger and C3PO who have all teamed up with Waze in the past.

Would you change your settings to have Freeman dole out directions? If not, which celebrity would you rather help you out with your navigation needs? Sound off below.

How do you add more pizzazz and magic to the Now You See Me sequel? Add Harry Potter to the mix of course. Wingardium Leviosa!!!

Daniel Radcliffe joins the magic caper franchise as Arthur Tressler’s (Michael Caine) son, Walter. Three years after the events of the first film, Walter seeks to bring “The Four Horsemen” to justice, after his father’s imprisonment.

Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco reprise their roles as three-quarters of the “Four Horsemen.” Masters of Sex actress Lizzy Caplan replaces Isla Fisher, who was pregnant during filming, to round out the quartet. Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman and Caine also return for a second round.

Jon M. Chu (Step Up franchise, G.I. Joe Retaliation) steps in to direct the sequel. Now You See Me: The Second Act conjures up magic in theaters on June 10, 2016. Check out the teaser trailer below.

Now You See Me 2 Movie Synopsis

The Four Horsemen (Eisenberg, Harrelson, Franco, Caplan) return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry (Radcliffe), a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. 2013 saw the battle of the warring White House flicks. Both White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen dealt with similar plots of terrorist attacks at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The latter raked in less at the box office but delivered a bigger profit due to a smaller budget. Naturally, a sequel was greenlit.

After the British Prime Minister passes away, his funeral in London becomes a target of a terrorist organization. Gerard Butler finds himself in the position to save the day once again. Aaron Eckhart, Mrogan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo also return for the sequel.

London Has Fallen heads to theaters on March 4, 2016. Check out the first full-length trailer below. It feels like Air Force One meets Die Hard. Not a bad combo.

London Has Fallen Debuts First Teaser Trailer

In: Donovan, Movies

Back in 2013, two films were released that dealt with a terrorist attack on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue- White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen. The latter definitely won the battle. Though Olympus raked in less at the box office, it only cost $75 million to produce unlike the Channing Tatum-Jamie Foxx flick which cost Sony double that figure. The Gerard Butler film also received a sequel, unlike the other.

Butler returns along with Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo for the sequel. This time, the action takes place across the pond. Butler is in London to attend the funeral for the Prime Minister. While there, he discovers a plot to assassinate all the world leaders attending the funeral.

London Has Fallen heads to theaters on January 22, 2016. Check out the first teaser trailer below.

I can already picture the pitch meeting with the studio execs, “it’s The Hangover but with seniors.” In all honesty, if they rebranded this The Hangover Part 65, I would buy it as a sequel to the Bradley Cooper flicks.

When you hear of four Academy Award-winning actors starring in a film, the last thing you’d expect from them to appear in is a comedy about boozing it up in Las Vegas. It’s for that very reason that makes Last Vegas potentially a hilarious flick. Seeing Morgan Freeman getting his drunk on is worth the price of admission alone. Who knew he was such a party animal? Check out the teaser trailer and official synopsis below.

Official Synopsis

Billy (Academy Award®-winner Michael Douglas), Paddy (Academy Award®-winner Robert De Niro), Archie (Academy Award®-winner Morgan Freeman) and Sam (Academy Award®-winner Kevin Kline) have been best friends since childhood. So when Billy, the group’s sworn bachelor, finally proposes to his thirty-something (of course) girlfriend, the four head to Las Vegas with a plan to stop acting their age and relive their glory days. However, upon arriving, the four quickly realize that the decades have transformed Sin City and tested their friendship in ways they never imagined. The Rat Pack may have once played the Sands and Cirque du Soleil may now rule the Strip, but it’s these four who are taking over Vegas.

The trailer for an upcoming political action thriller called Olympus Has Fallen and it looks so good! There are so many good actors in it as well.

In the film, terrorists have taken over the White House and are holding the President (Aaron Eckhart) hostage, with a lone Secret Service agent (Gerard Butler) trying to save the day. When the President is held hostage, leave it to Morgan Freeman to be the acting President. LOL. Even when he’s not the president, he becomes the acting president… I love it. I kind of get a 24 vibe from it where in Season 7 the White House was invaded and President Taylor was taken hostage. That’s find with me, I loved 24 and in particular, that season!

As mentioned, there are so many great actors in this movie. In addition to those already mentioned, the film also has Ashley Judd (the First Lady), Angela Bassett, Dylan McDermott, and Melissa Leo. The film comes out on March 22. Check out the trailer below!
