Everyone knows Mark and Donnie, but how about Paul? He’s another one from the Wahlberg clan. You’ll get to know more about this brother if you tune in to A&E’s upcoming docu-series titled Wahlburgers.
The show chronicles Mark & Donnie heading back to their native Boston to help their older bro out with his new hamburger restaurant. You’ll also get to know their spirited mother Alma. In the teaser, she reveals a time when it wasn’t cool to be her famous sons’ mother. I can only imagine the trouble they got into as kids.
Wahlburgers premieres on A&E on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Watch the new promo below to find out exactly what’s in a Donnie Double D burger. I hope it has nothing to do with Donnie’s girlfriend, Jenny McCarthy’s breasts. I’d much rather have some secret sauce ;)
Based on Marcus Luttrell’s New York best-selling novel, Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10, Lone Survivor chronicles a 2005 mission called “Operation Red Wing” which found Seal Team 10 on a mission to capture a Taliban leader named Admad Shad in Afghanistan. Sadly, the operation failed leaving Luttrell as the sole survivor. Mark Wahlberg plays the former Navy Seal.
Lone Survivor hits theaters December 27th, 2013. Can we say Oscar-bait? Joining Wahlberg in the film are Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Ludwig, Eric Bana, Jerry Ferrara, Scott Elrod. On a superficial note, how good-looking is the cast? The film is directed by Peter Berg. Check out the new trailer below.
Poor Taylor Kitsch. Hollywood insiders tapped him as the next big thing, but after a string of big box office disappointments, that didn’t look it was ever going to happen. In his defense, I don’t think any actor could’ve saved the disasters that were John Carter and Battleship. His latest film reunites him with his Battleship director, Peter Berg. Hopefully this time around, their collaboration yields better results.
If there was anyone who could pull Kitsch out of his slump, it’s Mark Wahlberg. The former Marky Mark co-stars with Kitsch in Lone Survivor. The film is based on a 2005 mission called “Operation Red Wing” which found Seal Team 10 on a mission to capture a Taliban leader named Admad Shad in Afghanistan. Sadly, the operation failed leaving Marcus Luttrell as the sole survivor. Rounding out the cast are Eric Bana, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Alexander Ludwig.
Lone Survivor hits theaters in a limited release December 27 before going wide in January. Clearly, an attempt to sneak in for awards consideration. Reportedly Peter Berg couldn’t get support for the film without directing Battleship first. That explains the creative misstep. LOL. Check out the trailer below.
All is not completely hopeless for Lindsay Lohan. If she’s ever in doubt about making a legitimate comeback, all she needs to do is look at Robert Downey Jr. for inspiration. There once was a time when the 48-year-old actor was considered damaged goods after a string of drug arrests, rehab stints and box office bombs. Now, he’s Forbes Highest-Paid Actor In Hollywood based on earnings from June 2012 til June 2013.
According to the publication, Downey Jr. raked in an astonishing $75 million over the past year. A massive sum bolstered by gigantic blockbuster hits like The Avengers and Iron Man 3. Both of those movies made over $1 billion at the international box office.
Coming in second place is everyone’s favorite former stripper turned Hollywood A-lister, Channing Tatum. The 33-year-old new dad’s runner up status was buoyed by the success of Magic Mike. Since he self-financed the flick, he laughed all the way to the bank with most of the film’s profits. Check out the rest of the Top 10 below. There’s a couple of surprises including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson making the cut.
For the first time since not directing a Transformers flick, Michael Bay returns to the top spot at the box office. However, the take was the 48-year-old director’s smallest opening since 2005′s The Island. Pain & Gain starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson muscled in an estimated $20 million during its opening frame. Not the most impressive total, but given its reported $26 million budget, the studio can breathe a sigh of relief. Supposedly, they only greenlit the film in exchange for Bay directing the upcoming fourth Transformer film.
Also opening this weekend was the ensemble romantic comedy, The Big Wedding. Even with a huge cast that includes, Diane Keaton, Robert Deniro, Katherine Heigl, Topher Grace and Robin Williams, not that many people RSVP’d to the big event. The flick earned a paltry $7.5 million.
Last week’s champ, Oblivion, took the runner-up slot with another $17.4 million. As expected it fell sharply by 53%. Also not holding up well is the baseball drama 42. Given its A- CinemaScore grade, most predicted it would have box office legs. It’s amassed $69.1 million to date but will have a hard road to reach the $100 million milestone. Check out the rest of the top 10 below.
When someone mentions celebrity fitness videos, Jane Fonda quickly pops to mind. After all, she practically invented the genre with her highly-successful exercise videos in the 80s. Naturally, everyone and their dog wanted to jump on the fitness bandwagon. Even The Golden Girl’s Estelle Getty made one. Til this day, stars are still sharing their workout routines to make a bit of extra cash.
BuzzFeed recently shared some vintage fitness videos from back in the day. There’s something about the production values during the 80s and early 90s that makes everything super cheesy.
Since the Reunion Part 2 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs tonight, I thought I’d share BuzzFeed’s list. For those who don’t watch the Bravo reality show, this season was all about the competing Stallion Booty and Donkey Booty workout videos. Check out a few of my favorites vintage ones below.
The second I saw paparazzi pics of Mark Whalberg in his undies while filming Pain & Gain, I knew I had to check out this film. The 41-year-old actor reportedly spent two months intensively training before shooting. Job well done. Clearly, I’m not the only one impressed with Wahlberg’s new buff physique. Director Michael Bay who directed the flick, hired him again. This time to take over the Transformers franchise.
Besides the allure of Mark all beefed up, the film also stars the hilarious duo of Ken Jeong and Rebel Wilson. Adding even more muscle is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. In the film, Wahlberg and The Rock play Miami bodybuilders who get involved with extortion, kidnapping, and murder. Believe it or not, the film is based on real life events. In fact, Mark’s character received a death sentence and currently sits on Florida’s death row. Check out the upcoming action comedy’s first trailer below.
Mark Wahlberg finally has some co-stars who aren’t Autobots or Decepticons. The fourth installment in the Transformers saga finally has its young leads. Will the franchise catapult the careers of these young actors as it did with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox? Based on the number of articles already on the interweb about their casting, I would say so. That said, both of the newbies have notable credits to their name already. Find out who they are below.
