It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Charlie Hides parody where he pits Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Cher against each other, but today, we’ve got just the fix.

In this new parody, the divas reenact some memorable scenes from The Devil Wears Prada. This movie is up there with Mean Girls as one of those guilty pleasure movies I can watch over and over again. In the parody, Charlie’s version of Madonna plays the role of Miranda Priestly, famously played by Meryl Streep. Charlie’s Lady Gaga plays Andy, the role originally played by Anne Hathaway. Lastly, Cher plays the role of Emily, originally played by Emily Blunt.

When Stefani Germanotta interviews with Madonna for a job at Runway, both her and Cher are not too keen on how Madge treats them. Charlie’s Liza Minnelli makes an appearance as well. Enjoy the parody below!

My Top 10 Favorite MTV VMA Performances

In: Matt, Music, Videos

Every year at the end of summer, MTV hosts the Video Music Awards, all an out spectacle celebrating the best music videos of the past year. Each year the VMAs turn out some of the most exciting and theatrical performances.

With this year’s awards show airing tonight, I decided to compile a list of my personal favorite VMA performances. Keep in mind I have a thing for female artists, drama, powerful voices, and train wrecks.

My top 10 list after the jump…

Who releases a brand new video on Sunday of Labor Day long weekend? Azealia Banks, that’s who. That’s one of the many reasons I love this woman. She plays by her own set of rules. FIERCE. The 21-year-old rapper dropped the visual for the title track off her EP, 1991, which was directed by Justin Mitchell. Once again, Banks looks stunning, especially in the close-up scenes.

It’s only fitting, given the song title, that the clip is a sort of homage to early 90s dance videos. Didn’t it seem like most of them during that era featured fashion photography and minimalistic backdrops? If there was one artist who served the most inspiration for her “1991” clip, I would have to pick Madonna’s “Vogue” video. From the suit, to the glamor shots, to the nods to vogue dance moves, the music video definitely evokes the Material Girl. In fact, I also see a bit of “Express Yourself“, “Lucky Star” and “Rain” in there as well. Watch the clip below and see if you notice all the Madonna references.

Mariah Carey has 15. Kristine W has 16 under her belt. Beyonce and Rihanna are tied with 18. Even Janet Jackson who’s the closest, only has 19 to her name. With her current single, “Turn Up The Radio“, Madonna notches her record 43rd No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club chart, further extending her lead on her dance compatriots. The 54-year-old singer may not be relevant on radio anymore, but she’s still able to pack them to the dance floor. She’s definitely the undisputed dance queen.

If Madonna scores another chart topper on the Dance Club chart, it would bring her total to 44 No. 1s. That would place her in a tie with George Strait as having the most toppers on ANY single Billboard chart. The country singer has 44 titles, dating back to 1981 all the way to 2009. With just two more dance hits, Madge could be the Queen of the Billboard charts. How many of the Material Girl’s 43 dance hits do you remember? Check out all of them below, beginning with her first club hit “Holiday”/”Lucky Star” from September 1983.

I’d certainly consider “Let’s Have A Kiki” by Scissor Sisters to be one of the summer songs of sorts this year and I love how the it keeps getting reinvented. From the epic montage video video to the instructional music video to all of the awesome remixes.

The latest goodie is a mashup with Madonna and her hit song “Vogue“. Coincidentally, it was only a few days ago that I wrote about the boy who, back in 1992, performed to “Vogue” at his Bar Mitzvah. So awesome. Today, I saw this video posted on Facebook and I just had to share it with you. The way these two tracks blend together is “marvelous”.

So… “I hope you’re up girl….Cuz I know exactly what we need…” A Vogue/Kiki Mashup, of course! Enjoy!

Earlier this year, the Russian government passed new homophobic legislation. The gay “propaganda” law imposes administrative fines on the so-called “propaganda of sodomy, lesbianism, bisexuality, transgenderism” and pedophilia to minors. Madonna vowed to speak against this anti-gay legislation when her current world tour stopped in St. Petersburg. True to her word, Madge delivered a fiery speech on August 9th to concert goers which was attended by children and adults. Here’s a portion of what she said:

“The gay community here, and all around the world, have the same rights, to be treated with dignity, with respect, with tolerance, with compassion, with love.” – Madonna

Given that her words broke Russian law, she’s now being sued by nine Russian activists who were offended by her “gay propaganda”. Alexander Pochuyev, the lawyer representing the activists, filed the lawsuit on Friday, August 17. Along with the “Like A Virgin” singer, the concert organizer and venue are named as defendants. What’s the cost of their mental anguish? Approximately $10.5 million US dollars, roughly 333 million rubles.

“No one is burning anyone at the stake or carrying out an Inquisition. Modern civilization requires tolerance and respect for different values,” the Pochuyev argued.

Picture it: It’s March 14, 1992. Bill Clinton has become President, Sister Act just came out, neon is in, and Madonna continues to rule pop music.

A boy named Shaun Sperling reads from the Torah and bacame a Bar Mitzvah in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The theme that Shaun decided up to signify the religious celebration of him becoming a man was… Madonna.

To kick off the party, he had someone introduce him and he makes a grand entrance and performs a dance and lip sync to “Vogue“. When he takes off his suit jacket, he reveals a portrait of Madonna on the back of his button up.

This video is epic and the icing on the cake is the screaming girls in the audience cheering him on. “Now don’t just stand there, let’s get to it…” Watch the “home video” footage of this event below.

The original Queen of Pop turned the BIG 5-4 today! In true Madonna fashion, the singer doesn’t look a day over 40 and still seems to have the energy she did as a young star. She’s been a gay icon for decades and has been credited with inspiring many of the singers we love currently such as Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.

I particularly find Madonna fascinating because she’s just a girl from Michigan who managed to rule the world – and as a boy from a small town in Michigan, I find this as inspirational as it gets.

Lets take a trip down memory lane to see how the material girl went from rising star to international icon.
