BET Throws Shade At Madonna’s Prince Tribute

The second Billboard announced Madonna was paying tribute to Prince, immediately there was backlash. Many felt, Madge wasn’t fit to honor the Purple One. Personally, I was cautiously optimistic that she would deliver.

While it wasn’t a trainwreck, the 57-year-old’s cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U” and “Purple Rain” was a tad underwhelming even with a surprise cameo by Stevie Wonder on the latter. Naturally, social media lit up with people bashing the “Like A Virgin” singer.

BET even got in on the action. The network threw shade at Madonna’s performance by promising a better tribute to the “Let’s Go Crazy” legend at their BET Awards June 26 telecast. Check out their promo below, along with Madonna’s tribute.

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards is shaping up to be a must-see event. In addition to all the big names performing, both Britney Spears and Celine Dion will receive special awards- the Millennium Award and Icon Award respectively. And now this…

Billboard and Dick Clark Productions announced today Madonna will honor Prince at the star-studded event. It is not known if Madge will perform or simply deliver a speech. Either way, I’m looking forward to it. Personally, I’m hoping for a performance. Even if they weren’t best friends, it’s fitting since both helped define the 80s.

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards will air live on ABC on May 22. Ludacris and Ciara will co-host the festivities.

Do you think Madonna is a good choice to pay tribute to Prince? Weigh in below.

Anymore room in that giant bed? That is one juicy smörgåsbord of hot men. Glen Powell, Blake Jenner, Ryan Guzman, Wyatt Russell and Tyler Hoechlin… yes please!!!

The five guys can currently be seen in Everybody Wants Some by Richard Linkletter (Boyhood) which is in theater right now. The film is described as a spiritual sequel to Dazed & Confused but set in the 1980s which means plenty of scenes of the guys wearing really short shorts 😉

Everybody Wants Some

Set in the world of 1980s college life, EVERYBODY WANTS SOME!! follows a freshman’s first weekend of college, experiencing a fraternity-like lifestyle with his hard-partying teammates as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.

Glamour magazine corralled the studs up to deliver a dramatic reading of “Like A Virgin” by Madonna. They really give it their all. My personal favorite, Guzman, gives it almost a Shakespearean quality. Check out the video below, along the red band trailer for the film.

Given the attire above, one would naturally assume music from Madonna’s Like A Virgin era was used. You know what they say about assuming 😉

Instead of opting for “Material Girl,” “Into The Groove” or “Dress You Up,” “Express Yourself” from Madge’s Like A Prayer was picked. Clearly someone in the costume department didn’t get the memo. The outfit Janelle Monae is wearing isn’t era appropriate. Epic fail if you ask me.

With exception to that faux pas, Monae’s Super Bowl Pepsi commercial is otherwise fantastic. She looks great in the ad titled “Joy of Dance.” Check out the clip below which also features the 30-year-old singer dancing to The Contours’ “Do You Love Me?

Madonna is the latest celebrity to pay tribute to David Bowie. The 57-year-old entertainer performed Bowie’s classic “Rebel Rebel” during her Rebel Heart tour stop in Houston.

When news of Bowie’s death came out, Madge shared an emotional tribute to her idol. “Talented . Unique. Genius. Game Changer. The Man who Fell to Earth. Your Spirit Lives on Forever! #rebelheart,” she tweeted, adding “So lucky to have met you!!!! Hot Tramp I love you So! #rebelheart”

With all these Bowie homages hitting online, I wouldn’t be surprised if a tribute album wasn’t in the works in the near future. Would you check it out? I would. Watch Madonna’s fantastic cover below.

A few months ago, Pablo Hernandez appeared alongside several West Hollywood personalities for a saucy PSA. That clip titled “Bitch I’m A Condom” reworked the lyrics of Madonna’s “Bitch, I’m Madonna” to promote safe sex. This time however, the Andrew Christian underwear model parodies the Madge tune to declare his love for bottoming.

Hernandez enlisted RuPaul’s Drag Race fan favorite, Manila Luzon, to drop some rhymes. Unlike what they say about Christmas, it’s better to receive than give in Pablo’s case 😉 Check out the sexy “Bitch, I’m A Bottom” clip below.

After heading to a galaxy far, far away for GQ, Amy Schumer lands back on Earth for a stunning new spread in Empire magazine. The Trainwreck actress is anything but looking like a trainwreck in the glamorous homage to Madonna.

“Amy Schumer is having a moment. She’s established herself as a golden girl of Comedy Central and a star on the US stand-up circuit, and now the actress/comedian has graduated to the big screen with a lead role in much-lauded romantic-comedy Trainwreck,” Empire writes. “And what better way to mark that moment than with a Madonna homaging photoshoot?”

Shot by David Venni, the 34-year-old serves Madonna realness circa her “Vogue” era. Schumer cleans up very nicely. I’m so bummed I’m not going to Madge’s New York shows where Amy is opening. A double bill of Amy and Madonna. Is there anything better than that?

Madonna is just leaking all over the place these days. Not only is her new material at the mercy of pirates but now items from the vault are at risk too.

Last week, two clips of Madonna voguing with backup dancers/singers Donna De Lory and Niki Harris on the set of “Vogue” hit online. Today, a four minute plus video of the iconic black-and-white clip has now been uncovered. Not only is it a rough cut of the visual, but it also includes the then 31-year-old’s studio vocals without any background music. The entire thing almost plays like one of those ‘without music‘ parodies.

If that wasn’t enough vintage Madge to your liking, b-roll of “Rain” video has made its way onto a Russian video sharing website. It’s 37 minutes of a pixie-cut Madonna serving face for the camera. Check out both clips below.
