Jennifer Hudson should be thanking her ‘lucky’ stars that she wasn’t asked to put on a heinous wig for this fashion spread. Remember that tragedy that was Britney Spears’ Lucky cover last month. EPIC FAIL. The Oscar-winning actress definitely dodged a bullet there. Wearing H&M, 7 For All Mankind and DKNY, Hudson beams on Lucky’s January 2013 issue snapped by photographer Ruven Afanador.
The publication couldn’t have picked a better person to kick off 2013 with than the wickedly awesome Miss Hudson. The 31-year-old has a few big projects lined up in the new year. Not only does her highly-anticipated guest starring role on Smash begin in February, but the R&B singer is dropping a new album. Reportedly, super producer Redone is working heavily with Hudson for her third studio effort. If that wasn’t enough to keep her busy, the stylish celebrity will continue working on her recently-debuted fashion line. Check out a few quotes from her interview discussing this and much more below.
“The first time I was asked to lose weight [on American Idol], I was like, ‘What??’ Where I come from, I was never considered particularly heavy.” After a number of crash-diet attempts, Hudson found success with Weight Watchers because it wasn’t about Hollywood-style deprivation. “You have what you’re craving,” she says. “Chocolate is what I love—I have it every day.”
Back in 2000, Britney Spears sang a song about a girl named “Lucky“. Remember that ditty? Twelve years later, the 30-year-old singer is gracing the cover of Lucky magazine. Her cover leaves me asking one huge question. Why in the world is she wearing a wig? At least that’s what it looks like? Did Miss Spears shave her head, oops one more time? The hairline looks awkward, especially in the pictures inside the December 2012 issue. I’m sure Team Xtina will be proclaiming the “Genie In A Bottle” singer’s Lucky October 2012 cover is better. Check out the pictures below along with a few quotes from her interview.
“They’re in the middle right now of trying to figure it out. They try to figure out where I go when I go to film X Factor. They’re like, ‘Mommy’s going off to be a superhero.’ and then I get back, and they just see me as Mommy. And then when I’m back working on the show, they say, ‘Oh, Mommy’s a superhero again!’”
In the late 90s, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears battled it out on the Billboard charts. This Fall, the two pop divas will face off against each other on television with competing reality singing shows. Before we get the Nielsen ratings for their Fall premieres, the blonds go head-to-head on newsstands everywhere. Earlier today, Patrick shared Britney Spears’ Elle October 2012 issue, and now I bring you Christina’s Lucky magazine cover.
The 31-year-old Voice judge dons denim shirts, jean vests and lace tops for her photo spread snapped by Robert Erdmann. Apparently it’s the 1980s all over again ;) Inside the issue, X-Tina discusses her new album, achieving success at an early age and her body issues. Check out her photos below, along with a few quotes. Don’t forget to vote on which former Mickey Mouse Club alum has the better October 2012 cover in our poll.
On Fame At A Young Age
“When you’re young, it’s so easy to get bull-dozed. There were these two ladies who worked at the record label who always wanted to come to fittings and dress me up like a Barbie doll. It was disgusting.”
On Stripped’s Success
“I was 21 and fearless. It was a really great turning point for me to be the artist I’d always wanted to be.”
