For years, rumors were abound that little Olivia from The Cosby Show was one big ‘ol lesbian. And for years, Raven-Symone has denied them. Back in 2008 and 2010, she wrote on her blog and Twitter respectively regarding her sexuality:
“ITS FALSE THAT IM DATING A GIRL RIGHT NOW,” she added. “IT’S RUDE TO QUESTION SOMETHING SO PERSONAL. WE ARE ALWAYS FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHTS FOR THE GAY AND LESBIAN COMMUNITY.” – Raven Symone (2008)
“not in a relationship with a girl.” – Raven Symone (2010)
Last year, another rumor surfaced that she was dating and shacking up with ANTM alum AzMarie Livingston. Again, the 27-year-old actress set the record “straight.”
“I’m living my personal life the way I’m happiest. I’m not one, in my 25 year career, to disclose who I’m dating. And I shall not start now,” she writes. “My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I’m datings (sic) to know. I’m not one for a public display of my life.”
“That is my right as a human being whether straight or gay. To tell or not to tell. As long as I’m not harming anyone…And my career is the only thing I would like to put on display, not my personal life.” – Raven
It seems that she’s finally changed her tune (sorta). Check out what she posted on her Twitter today.
On Friday, I had the opportunity to interview Vicci Martinez, whom you likely remember as one of the talented finalists from Season 1 of The Voice. She was a runner up, but was the last one standing on Cee Lo Green‘s team. Martinez and Cee Lo Green actually collaborated on a song together called “Come Along” and it won “Best Rock Song” at the Out Music Awards back in December. She and Cee Lo shot the music video for the song in Seattle earlier this month and they just received the final cut of the video today. Can’t wait to see how it turned out!
Martinez was a little under the weather when I spoke with her, but she’s pushing through because she’s currently on tour right now and has to push through and take care of herself. I talked to her about whether she thinks being an out singer has helped or hindered her career, or if it even matters. The singer is known for her very touching and personal lyrics (“Hold Me Darling” had me in tears a few weeks ago!), so I asked her if she was writing any songs at the moment based on anything going on in her life… and she was and told me about it.
Find out what she had to say about all of this and more by listening to the interview below. Stay tuned for her “Come Along” music video with Cee Lo Green in the near future!
It’s not as cute as the Kindle Paperwhite commercial, but anything that promotes gay marriage is always welcome. Check it out below.
Support for marriage equality has never been stronger in the United States. It’s only natural major corporations reflect this. Microsoft has a long track record of pro-LGBT stances. Their new commercial for Microsoft Outlook further proves that. In the ad, a woman shoots emails to various friends— including a woman who just tied the knot with her female partner.
Out of curiosity, has anyone seen either the Kindle commercial or this new MSN Outlook one on traditional mediums like television? Or are they simply popping up online where they won’t offend conservatives? I fast-forward through most commercials so I couldn’t tell you. Please tell me they’re airing on CBS during NCIS or The Mentalist ;) Sound off below.
In the following video, Davey Wavey asks several lesbians (one-on-one) what they think about vaginas. Their initial reactions range from wishing that they had one to explaining that lesbians actually don’t have a problem with penises… just what they are attached to. He then asks them to describe a penis in one word and some of their responses include: Pointy, transformer, squishy-stick, and of course many others. He also had them talk about how penises smell and also to make a face as if they were a penis. LOL.
Another random funny aspect to the video is that there’s one girl that’s all confused because it turns out she’s not a lesbian… well, she admits to being 10% lesbian. Enjoy the video below!
I just checked out this new video from Funny Or Die called “She Said, She Said” and just had to share it with you. I sure needed a good laugh on this rainy, “spring forward” Sunday afternoon.
The short video (directed by Stuart Blumberg) stars Marisa Tomei and Elodie Bouchez as a lesbian couple that is on the brink of divorce and decides to go through mediation in order to decide how to divide their possessions. As you know, divorces and breakups are definitely not smooth sailing so things get ugly. At one part, they have a flashback where one of them develops a fling with the hilarious Aubrey Plaza who you know best from Parks & Recreation.
Watch the funny video below to find out how it all turns out in the end. Happy Sunday!
Not only is Denver Nuggets NBC basketball player Kenneth Faried on the court in the world of basketball, he’s also on the court in the quest for marriage equality. A few days ago, he uploaded a video where he’s sitting in between his mothers, Waudda and Carol and he explains what it’s like having two mothers and why he believes in equality for the LGBT community.
“I support civil union, because it gives people — gays and lesbians — the right to make decisions on their own,” he says in the video. “If they want to get married and let them choose who they want to be with.” He adds, “Nobody can ever tell me I can’t have two mothers, because I really do.”
Watch the touching video below. His mothers must be so proud of him and appreciative of the message he’s sending out. The more people continue to speak out like this and share their stories, the greater the chance for change and increased equality.
Remember the “Shit Girls Say” phase the internet went through, with new videos coming out every single day. Well, now there’s something new to fill that void.
It all started with a video called “Gay Men Will Marry Your Girlfriends,” a humerous video outlining a unique argument for marriage equality. Then came the retort, where Straight Men Respond to the aforementioned threat made by gay men. Now, a new video has come out and it’s absolutely hilarious. This one is called “Gay Women Will Marry Your Boyfriends“.
In the video, the lesbians explain while they’d be the best wives ever. Some of their reasons are that they love sports, they aren’t into shopping, and well, they know other lesbians and sometimes they love to makeout and take their clothes off. “Scared of that spider in the bedroom? CRUSHED IT!,” the women say in the video. LOL.
Check out the video below if you want a good laugh. I wonder what the next take on these mixed up marriage videos will be. Any guesses?
If you’re looking for something to brighten up your Monday, watch the following commercial by Expedia. In their new “Find Yours” campaign (in reference to finding “understanding”), the travel company really pulls on your heart strings and emphasizes how every trip is unique. “We know that every trip is unique, personal and has the potential to be transformational,” says Expedia. “With more travel options than anyone else, we exist to help each individual find exactly what it is they are looking for.”
The description of the video below reads: “On this trip, Artie Goldstein travels across the country to attend his daughter’s same-sex wedding, a journey that will test him, challenge him, and ultimately change him in unexpected ways.” It’s absolutely beautiful and I commend Expedia for putting this video together. It is such a touching story that I’m sure many families can relate to. I was holding back tears in this one for sure.
Watch the video below and share with your friends and family. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I did.
