A little over a year ago, I wrote about Lady Gaga and Polaroid teaming up for a new creation, where Gaga said, “The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion /technology /photography innovation —blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era – and we are excited to collaborate on these ventures with the Polaroid brand.” Now, on January 6th, Polaroid Grey Label will be revealed. The countdown begins. The announcement on Polaroid’s website reads:

“A year in the making, Polaroid Grey Label is a collaboration between two of the most influential icons of our time. Polaroid and Lady Gaga. Join us at Polaroid.com as we reveal the next generation instant experience. Live from CES in Las Vegas. January 6th, 2011 at 3:30pm PST.”

We’re still recovering from our NYE celebrations, so we decided to take today off. In lieu of new articles, we decided to repost some of our favorite 2010 Year End List-themed posts from this year. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

WOO HOO. DJ Earworm finally released his yearly mashup of the 25 biggest hits from 2010. I’ve been checking his website on a daily basis since Christmas, waiting for this year’s masterpiece. Once again, the talented mashup artist didn’t disappoint. It always amazes me how much patience he has to, not only whip up the audio mashup, but the visual one as well.

While the 2010 mashup is good and will receive heavy rotation on my playlist, I’m more partial to last year’s creation. When I first saw last year’s video, my jaw literally hit the ground. I had never seen anything like it so well done before. I think the reason why I’m not oohing and aahing this year, is due to the high level of expectation I had for the poor guy. Judge for yourself and see if I’m being overly critical. Watch this year and last year’s mashups below and vote on which one was better.

In the past week, 8 Madame Tussaud locations all over the world have rolled out one of their most ambitious figure launch in 275 years. The 8 wax figures of Lady Gaga were said to have cost a whopping $2.4 million and they are banking on her Little Monsters to line up and catch a glimpse of her wax figure in various iconic costumes she has worn in the past. My personal favorites are Berlin, Shanghai & Hollywood. Would you pay to go see Gaga’s life sized dolls?

Norwegian Recycling aka Peter Bull is back with another awesome video mashup. His latest masterpiece uses Cee Lo Green’s “F*ck You” instrumental as the foundations for the mix. Using snippets from 11 other pop-songs, he constructs a brand new song stitching the lyrics of the songs used.

Like his previous mashups we’ve covered on the site, this one doesn’t disappoint. I appreciate that he incorporates new songs still charting along with older popular tracks from previous years. No matter how many times I see video mashups, I still marvel at the time and patience needed to create one. If it were me, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Check out the 12 songs he used for his latest creation.

1. Cee Lo Green – Fuck You
2. Jay Sean feat. Sean Paul & Lil Jon – Do You Remember
3. Jay Sean feat. Nicki Minaj – 2012 (It Ain’t The End)
4. Kylie Minouge – Get Outta My Face
5. Britney Spears – Piece Of Me
6. Katy Perry – Teenage Dream
7. Lady Gaga – Bad Romance
8. David Guetta feat. Akon – Sexy Bitch
9. Sean Kingston – Beautiful Girls
10. Kelly Rowland feat David Guetta – Commander
11. Gwen Stefani feat. Akon – The Sweet Escape
12. Flo Rida feat. David Guetta – Club Can’t Handle Me

On Sunday, I reported Alicia Keys’ “Keep A Child Alive” campaign had gotten off to a slow start. Since its World Aids Day launch, the charity had only reached $233,531. A far cry from its $1,000,000 goal. Celebrities including Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Ryan Seacrest, Usher, Jennifer Hudson and others vowed to stay off all social media sites until the donation goal was reached. At the rate they were going at, it looked like the celebs would be off Twitter until January 2011.

Thanks to the generosity of self-made billionaire Stewie Rahr, the virtually dead celebs have risen from their online graves. Stewie Rah Rah, as he’s affectionately known, donated $500,000 to Alicia Keys’ AIDS/HIV charity. In the past Rahr has donated to multiple charities including the Make-A-Wish foundation, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, Robin Hood Foundation and gave a $2 million donation to Columbia Medical Center for an eating disorder prevention program.

Lady Gaga Homages Via Barbie Dolls

In: Donovan, Music

Entertainment Weekly has done a wicked homage to one of their “Entertainers of the Year” for 2010. Using Barbie dolls as a blank canvas, their prop stylists transformed the original fashionista into various incarnations of Lady Gaga. Their concept to honor the pop diva in this way was ingenious and at moments, hilarious. A fitting tribute to an artist that transcended from pop-culture phenomenon to a true icon this past year.

Photographer Matthias Clamer was responsible for capturing the dolls in their various costumes and chose environments that truly reflected the original inspiration. For the image above, the stylists tried to recreate Gaga’s headline-grabbing meat dress at this year’s VMAs. Using dental floss, the prop stylists tied meat onto Barbie’s feet. The Cher doll looks pretty fierce as well.

I’ve selected a few other of my favorite images from EW’s “Barbie Goes (Lady) Gaga photo series and pasted them below. Check them out.

The 2011 Grammy Awards Nominees Announced…

In: Music, Patrick

Last night, the Grammy nominees for 2011 were announced with a performance filled evening by the best of the best at the Grammy Nomination Concert, including Katy Perry, Train, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and more. The night was hosted by LL Cool J who was “Doin’ It Well”, and with special presentations by some talented people including Stevie Wonder.

As for nominations, it’s definitely a successful “Recovery” by Eminem as he comes out on top with a whopping 10 nominations, with his collaboration with Rihanna receiving a few of those nominations! Following that, Bruno Mars received 7 nominations, Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum, and Jay Z with 6 nominations.

A few predictions would be that Lady Gaga gets Album of the Year, Justin Bieber gets New Artist of the Year, and Lady Antebellum gets Song of the Year for “Need You Now”. The awards take place on Sunday, February 13th, 2011. The concert didn’t show even close to all of the nominations, so you can check them out below.

With An Ego Like This, Lady Gaga Better Not Disappoint

In: Music, Patrick

Holy Ego, Batman! Lady Gaga has been majorly talking up her next album lately (which comes out next year), but she’s taken it to another level. She announced to her Polish fans that the album will have around 20 new tracks. While performing in Gdansk, she said to her fans:

“I promise you, I’ll never let you down. And not for nothing. The album’s finished and it’s f*cking really good. So whatever you just did for all of us…I promise to give you the greatest album of this decade, just for you.”

Wowsa! I’m pretty excited about it for a few reasons. (1) She hasn’t had a bad album yet. (2) I’m sick of her previous albums…only from over listening to them. (3) There are about 20 tracks…which is more than previous albums and almost double of what has become the industry norm. (4) I’ve had a nice break from Gaga. For the longest time, it was Gaga overload and I’ve enjoyed not having anything new from her for a while…but she’ll be welcome back in my iPod next year when her new album comes out.
