The “Queen of Twitter” is signing off all social media platforms this Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day, to benefit Alicia Keys’ AIDS charity, Keep a Child Alive. She’ll be joining Justin TImberlake, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Janelle Monae and Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz who are all signing off to support the campaign. The charity will accept donations through text messages and the participants will sign back on when the charity raises $1m.

The celebrities have filmed “last tweet and testament” videos and will appear in ads showing them lying in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths. The new campaign is called Digital Life Sacrifice. The monies raised will support families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

First Lady, Michelle Obama has officially been ranked the most powerful woman in the world by Forbes Magazine. I guess being married to the most powerful man in the world (depending on how you look at it) has something to do with it.

She was popular amongst the citizens right from the get go and she hasn’t let them down. She’s more involved in policy than Laura Bush was, but she has stayed away from hard policy (unlike Hillary Clinton). As Forbes put it, “A fashion icon and an athletic mother of two, she’s Jackie Kennedy with a law degree from Harvard and street sense from Chicago’s South Side.” Well said. 54% of Americans view her favorably.

Some of the top 10 most powerful women in the world are in our face & ears all the time, consisting of TWO talk show hosts, TWO pop stars (that have done a duet). Others include successful political or business women. For Top 10, keep reading…

When the second half of Glee‘s first season finished airing, I was sorta over it. It wasn’t nearly as good as the first half. But that all changed, after watching last night’s season premiere. The episode titled “Auditions” was probably one of the best Glee episodes ever. The producers brought the show back on track (IMHO).

It was more about storytelling and character development, rather than randomly creating situations just to include certain songs. While I’m a huge fan of showtunes and old 80s ballads, I was loving the more contemporary approach the episode took. Four of the five songs were actually released within the past couple of years.

Overall it was a great start to a new season. The entire segment with Jacob Israel filming a documentary as a nod to all the real life haters to start the show was a stroke of genius. But I do agree, Mr. Schue needs to never rap AGAIN. Jacob seriously needs to have his own webisodes. Fox are you listening. Make it happen.

A few quick random thoughts about last night. Welcome back, bitchy Quinn. I missed you so. Loving the the Asian loving, though I sorta miss “Artina“. Rachel’s new bangs really suit her. Her un-PC way of talking to Sunshine had me inappropriately laughing on the floor. Once again, Kurt’s scene stealing was a highlight of the show. That Best Supporting nod was well-deserved. Didn’t think I was going to like Coach Beiste, but she won me over. How hilarious was it when Cheyenne Jackson put on Sunshine’s Hello Kitty-type backpack. Hilar-balls.

GLEE CAST: Empire State of Mind (Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys)

The producers couldn’t have picked a better song to kick off the second season. With the Nationals taking place in New York City this year, this ode to the Big Apple was perfect. We often don’t get scenes filmed outdoors, so this was an unexpected treat. As usual, snippets of Kurt and his dance moves had me in stitches. If anyone knows where I can get the t-shirts the Gleeks are wearing, hit me up. Me likey.

Courtney Love Covers “Bad Romance”

In: Donovan, Music

During a recent performance at DeLeon Tequila Rock Lounge in New York City, Courtney Love channeled her inner Lady Gaga and tackled one of her biggest hits. The 46-year-old rocker belted out a cover of “Bad Romance” at the trendy hotspot. After her performance, the trainwreck shouted, “Done! Thank you! Never ever again, so I hope it was good for you!” That’s a good thing, because the cover was bad, bad, bad.

I normally like covers, but listening to the former front lady for Hole, breathing laboriously throughout the song was painful. Even more painful was watching her trying to hit certain notes, but to no avail. Note to Courtney, just because you add a few expletives, it doesn’t make you cool nor edgy. And another thing, it would be a good idea if you actually knew the majority of the lyrics. Someone should really send this video to Lindsay Lohan with the memo attached, “this could be you in 20 years if you keep on, keeping on“.

Attention Lady Gaga monsters. If you live, breathe and adore the “Bad Romance” singer to death, then you have to check this out. Fresh off her big night at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, Gaga is riding even higher than before. In honor of all her achievements, Billboard Magazine just released a special collector’s edition, Lady Gaga supplement. The publication includes oodles of Gaga content to fulfill the most hardcore of fans.

With 17 dedicated, exclusive pictures and facts, you can catch up on your Gaga trivia with ease. To boot, the online version has direct links to song and album previews. It also includes an in depth look at her singles and album chart performances in detail. My favorite part of the supplement is the timeline of Gaga’s fame. It’s amazing to see exactly how much she’s achieved in such a short time period.

These musical superstars are as equally known for their outrageous fashion sense as they are for their music. Both Bjork and Lady Gaga have worn some memorable outfits throughout their respective careers that have garnered them headlines. While it’s clear, these two amazing singers are fashion soulmates, which of these two forward-thinking fashionistas reign supreme?

I’ve created five head-to-head matches, picking an outfit from each singer that best represents that specific category. For instance in the picture above, both are wearing animal-inspired get-ups. Lady Gaga channeled her inner crow for the 2009 MTV VMAs, while Bjork wore the infamous swan dress at the Oscars. In this category, which artist is the “top bird”?

Lady Gaga On DADT

In: Patrick, Totally GAY!, Videos

Lady Gaga has released this incredibly honest and well spoken video urging people to call the senators in their constituencies to get them to finally repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. As you know, the law forces gay soldiers to keep silent about their sexuality, or be sent home. But actually, their freedoms are being breached even worse with people being investigated and having their emails searched, etc. to prove their sexualities. It’s disgusting. Here’s a little of what she says:

“To my fellow Americans, the Senate, Senators John McCain—Arizona, Mitch McConnell—Kentucky, James Inhofe—Oklahoma, Jeff Sessions—Alabama, and youth all over the world who are watching….‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ is a law that was created in 1993 that prevents gays from serving openly in the military. Since then 14,000 Americans have been discharged from the armed forces, refused the right to serve their country and sent home, regardless of honorable service or how valuable they were to their units…We are not asking you to agree with or approve the moral implications of homosexuality, we’re asking you to do your job, to protect the constitution. As majority leader Harry Reid said, anyone who is willing to fight for this country should have the same civil opportunities to do so as anyone else.”

That’s just an excerpt. You have to listen to how passionate, respectful, and educated Gaga was in how she delivered this message.

Lady Gaga Wore *Gasp* Abercrombie & Fitch

In: Donovan, Fashion, Music

Before she wore dresses made out of slabs of meat or high fashion couture, The Gaga shopped at her local Abercrombie & Fitch store. We all knew she loved the gays, but no one knew exactly how much she supported the mos, until now. Everyone knows, A&F is the official couturier of middle aged 45-year-old gay men trying to recapture their youth. All kidding aside, she looks absolutely cute dressing like a your average teen. Loving the Chuck Taylor Converse kicks too.

The senior picture from Gaga’s senior year (2003) is one of many exclusive pics from Maureen Callahan’s biography on Lady Gaga née Stefani Germanotta . “Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga“, which is available now, is filled with exclusive details and anecdotes from Gaga’s life before she became a Fame Monster. Who knew this chick would give the world “Bad Romance“?
