Last night, Lady Gaga did double duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live. With a strong opening monologue, the scene was set for a great show full of laughs and strong musical performances. Actually, before Gaga greeted the audience, we were treated to a hilarious sketch train wreck Toronto mayor, Rob Ford with Bobby Moynihan taking on the role. I was crossing my fingers that they’d do a sketch on this and thought Moynihan was perfect.
Gaga wasn’t afraid to make fun of herself throughout the show and I felt that in particular she really shined in the mockery of herself as “Old Lady Gaga“, playing herself in the future after people have forgotten about her. Her vocal performances were very strong and it was great that she had R. Kelly on the show to perform “Do What You Want” along with her. The two looked like they were having a lot of fun and they certainly weren’t afraid to get intimate with each other to bring the steamy lyrics to life.
Check out a handful of the sketches and musical performances from last night via the videos below. How did you think Gaga did on the show? What was your favorite sketch? Share your own opinions below in the comments.
Although she’s appeared on Saturday Night Live before, this weekend marks Lady Gaga’s first time pulling double duty. In addition to performing, she’s hosting the show. The last time that happened was just a few weeks ago when Miley Cyrus pulled it off to tremendous success. The “Applause” singer definitely has her work cut out for her. Based on the promos, she’s already off to a great start. Girlfriend saves Tinkerbell… sorta. Check out all the promos below co-starring SNL cast member Kenan Thompson.
I just got around to watching Glee’s latest episode now. I ended up going out way too late last night. Nic was back in town, plus Brian had a colleague visiting as well. Naturally, I had to play host and head out on the town. Always a team player ;)
Based on the ratings last night, not many of you caught “A Katy or A Gaga.” The Fox show tied a series low. In all honesty, this season is a little off. Mostly likely due to the untimely death of Cory Monteith. I haven’t been at all engaged with any of the storylines. I tune out for most off the show with exception to the musical performances. They’re the best part of the show.
Last night’s “Roar” and “Applause” covers were hilarious and sexy. The facial reactions of the cast plus the shirtless moments of Jacob Artist, Blake Jenner and Chord Overstreet made them thoroughly entertaining but for very different and obvious reasons. Check them out below.
Lady Gaga strips it down and brings out the theatrics for her final ARTPOP promo single. It’s just Mother Monster belting it out with just a piano to accompany her. “Dope” was supposed to debut tonight during YouTube’s inaugural music awards, but Gaga debuted the track a tad earlier. Check it out below.
“Dope” isn’t available to download until November 4, but Lady Gaga just unveiled the single artwork. It’ll be the third and final promo single until ARTPOP drops. Mother Monster lives up to her moniker and looks a tad frightful. Fitting I suppose since she debuted it on Halloween. Gaga spots an extremely shoulder-padded blazer ripped from the 80s, a floppy hat, some serious grill and barely-there sheer underwear. Just another typical fashionable look from the “Applause” singer.
Lady Gaga’s little monsters are probably going to crucify me for saying this, but Adam Lambert just showed her up. His cover of “Marry The Night” absolutely slays. He should really book some recording studio time with Fernando Garibay who co-wrote the track. The two of them can create magic together.
Other songs being performed when Glee returns November 7 include Gaga’s “Applause” and Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake” and “Roar.” Lambert teams up with fellow guest star Demi Lovato on the latter. I can’t wait to hear their rendition. In the meantime give Adam’s “Marry The Night” a listen below.
Lady Gaga may not be “conventionally beautiful,” according to herself, but Mother Monster can certainly turn it up when needed. Gaga looks all kinds of fierce on the December issue of Glamour magazine. The “Venus” singer executes her best brokedown doll pose for photographer Patrick Demarchelier. If you think the cover is hot, wait til you see the pics of her wearing some interesting headwear below
Along with channeling her inner supermodel, Gaga sits down with Andy Cohen for the publication. During their chat, they discuss her confidence, her looks and much, much more. Check out a few quotes and pics from Glamour’s Women of the Year issue on newsstands November 5.
UK streaming music service O2 Tracks is giving its customers exclusive access to Lady Gaga’s upcoming album ARTPOP six days before its official release. To entice more people to check out the service, the company enlisted the “Applause” singer to dance inside a dog.
Yup, you read that correctly. No typo there. She dances to her R. Kelly-assisted “Do What U Want” as she shakes it in a floral bikini. Who knew canines’ insides resembled shiny silver balloons ;) Check out the promo below.
