After watching the season premiere of Dancing With The Stars, I feel content with the predictions I made prior to the first telecast. Most of the celebrities performed as I thought they would with a couple notable exceptions. Both Andy Dick and Wynonna Judd impressed and entertained with their debut performances. That said, I still think they’re going to be eliminated within the first five weeks.
The stars had to dance either a cha cha cha, a foxtrot or a contemporary on the first night. With no results show until Tuesday, March 26, all of them get a second chance to impress viewers next Monday. Check out all the performances below and find out which ones were my three favorites and worst pick.
After going with an All-Stars edition, Dancing With The Stars is going back to basics for Season 16. While I enjoyed seeing returning favorites, I’m looking forward to tonight’s season premiere. While the star wattage isn’t as high as in previous seasons, I already have a few people I’m rooting for. Lisa Vanderpump, I’m talking about you.
Getting a first look at the “celebrities” with their professional partners is always exciting to watch. While I do enjoy witnessing the trainwrecks, I’m more stoked to see who comes bursting out of the gates gunning for the mirrorball trophy. Check out my predictions on how Season 16′s stars will fare.
Without a doubt, Andy Dick will be one of the first to go. I just can’t see the 47-year-old comedian having any sort of rhythm. Former ABC sitcom star DL Hughley might have some dancing prowess, but don’t think he has the fan base to support him. Speaking of fans, everyone knows that country music has diehard ones. Normally I would put Wynonna Judd higher, but with Kellie Pickler also in the competition, I think Judd will suffer and be ousted early.
Also in this bunch is my favorite Lisa Vanderpump. While popular with Housewives addicts (myself included), she probably isn’t well known outside the Bravo universe. Hopefully her signature wit and sass will win over new fans quickly. Last in this list is boxer Victor Ortiz. I’m sure when it comes to demographics, there isn’t much crossover between DWTS and boxing watchers. His chances aren’t helped by being saddled with new professional, Lindsay Arnold either. I thoroughly believe, viewers also vote for their favorite pros.
My favorite part of every Dancing With The Stars season is the first episode. After weeks of buildup and buzz, we finally get to see who has the stuff to take it all the way and who’s there simply for fodder and ratings. This season that title goes to Andy Dick. I just can’t see the Newsradio star doing well. Poor Sharna Burgess. After spending several seasons in the Dance Troupe, she finally gets promoted to the big time, but saddled with Dick. LOL. With that said, the duo looks like they having lots of fun in their official promo photo.
ABC just released all the competing stars with their professional partners. This crop of wannabe hoofers doesn’t have the star wattage as previous ones, but I’m really looking forward to this season. We have new pro blood in the form of STYCYD alum Lindsay Arnold, Gleb Savchenko and the aforementioned Burgess. Based on first impressions Karina Smirnoff, Derek Hough and Val Chmerkovskiy have the best chemistry with their stars. Check out all the photos below.
Dancing With The Stars is back with a new cast of celebrities ready to throw on their dancing shoes and compete for the mirrorball trophy, alongside their talented professional partners. The new cast were announced by hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet on GMA this morning, along with the cast members for this season.
As with every season, there is quite the mix of celebrities that include country music stars, comedians, actors, Olympians and pro athletes, reality stars, and as usual, one token Disney star.
The new season begins on Monday, March 18 with a two-hour season premiere from 8-10pm ET, with the results show taking place the following week on Tuesday, March 26 at 9/10pm ET. Check out the cast of DWTS Season 16 below and vote for who you think will win this season.
Since we’re in the Hollywood Week phase of American Idol Season 12, I thought it was a perfect time to catch up on some of our favorite alums. We’re one step closer to crowning this year’s winner. He/She or some of this season’s finalists might find themselves on this list in the coming years.
Forbes recently released their annual list ranking former American Idol contestants. Taking into account record sales, concert tours, acting jobs and other money-making gigs, the publication gives the low down on the earning power of your favorite Idol alums.
Last year’s top dog Carrie Underwood, loses her crown and drops to runner-up status. Making his debut on the list is Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery. He clocks in at No. 4. His addition bumps off Fantasia Barrino and Clay Aiken from the list. The two ranked No. 4 and No. 9 respectively on the previous rankings. Check out who’s the HBIC on the Idol campus now. I think you might have a good idea. Here’s a hint… they’re “stronger” than ever. I’ve also embedded each singer’s most recent music video below for those who aren’t familiar with everyone’s post-Idol career. Hope you enjoy the list.
I’m not sure what it is but it’s like Anderson Cooper came out of the closet and with him came a whole lot of confidence, attitude and opinion. Lindsay Lohan was his first target by telling her to just “do her job.” Next in the line of fire? Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Teresa Giudice who was a guest on Anderson Live yesterday.
Anderson along with co-star for the day, Kellie Pickler were asking Teresa about the heated reunion show in which Teresa had said to Caroline Manzo, “you’ve got three rolls of fat.” Teresa quickly went on the defensive in explaining herself saying, “I had four women attacking me. I did nothing to any of them.” But, Anderson decided to chime in by saying, “no matter who’s attacking you, you don’t need to say to somebody, ‘you’ve got three rolls of fat.’” Teresa quickly replied back by saying, “you know what she said to me?” to which Anderson responded “I don’t care. You’re not 12 years old.” AH-MAZING! Watch Anderson and Teresa throw down below.
Country music star, Kellie Pickler revealed a new look on Good Morning America this morning. She revealed a shaved head and it wasn’t a Britney Spears ’07 situation. The reason she shaved her head was in support of her best friend, Summer Holt Miller (36) who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and that is commencing chemotherapy tomorrow. She recently underwent a double mastectomy.
“Cancer does not discriminate,” said Pickler on GMA. “If this compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it,” Miller added.
Pickler is working with Athena Water which will make a monetary donation to the American Cancer Society in Miller’s honor. They will also contribute a minimum of $2 million to support breast cancer awareness, care, education and research by 2014.
Well, last night we got to listen to the songs of the 80s and the whole thing was about as exciting as reading this sentence is… I know I’ve been called a catty bitch more than a couple times and told to shut up if I have nothing good to say but screw it, I’m still here ha. Point is, I’m staying around with the hopes that SOMEthing good gets proposed by the aging and out-of-touch producers at “American Idol” as they continue to attempt theme nights of aged singer song books and decades of limited relevance and then within those awful limitations choosing a litany of songs we’ve never heard of. This show has had such amazing moments over the last decade and I know it’s capable of great things so I’ll stay, keeping them honest and calling them on their laziness! Last night’s ridiculousness included crap by DeBarge (who?), lesser pics of Simply Red and 80s disco (seriously?) from Irene Cara… slow clap for those choices Idol. And as much as you have us watching the contestants “choose” their own songs, we just know that if they’re opting for bull like this that the list to go off of must be even more obscure. Okay, rant done, let’s get to what we’re here for!
Tonight is some personal pimping (yet again… wasn’t it about her TV show just a couple weeks ago and then her marriage the year before… Hey J Lo: how did those turn out?), by Ms. Lopez herself as she premieres “Dance Again” tonight. She looks great, but I’m wary to believe this one’s gonna be the one that puts her back on top, but we’ll see! On top of that we get previous Idol “failure” Kellie Pickler who proved you don’t need Idol’s number one slot to make it in the music world once the show ends and The Wanted performing tonight. Some decent bands tonight and a nice combo of pop, country and let’s go alt pop rock to make the evening appeal to a variety of peeps. But who cares about all that when there’s the elimination on the line! I’m hoping with all my might that it’s finally DeAndre Brackensick’s turn to step off though I’m worried for Hollie Cavanagh and as always Elise Testone. I think Hollie might earn the second chance from the judges if it gets that far but I doubt the other two would even be seriously considered for it. Let’s see what’s happened!
