Not all lyric videos are created equal and that’s exactly what Katy Perry proves with her new clip. Not content to throw in just Comic Sans text, the singer has her tech team provide some cute little effects to go along with the lyrics. Not the best one I’ve seen, but it certainly has its moments, especially during some medical-themed lyrics. A cute nurse’s hat and red cross pop up to coincide with the words. Yesterday, Jennifer Lopez released a lyric video for her new single featuring Pitbull and today it’s Katy’s turn. Watch it below and see how it compares to J.Lo’s.
“Dressin’ Up” is the latest track revealed from Perry’s upcoming repackaged album, “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection“. On the song, Katy sings about putting on various different outfits to titillate her man. Someone’s into role play. She definitely doesn’t hold back with the risque lyrics. Just check out a couple of dirty ditties like: You wanna pet my kitty?; You’re such a dirty doggie; and My cookie monster wants a taste test. Personally, the latter is my favorite. Listen to another leftover track from “Teenage Dream” below and pick out your favorite sexually-tinged lyric.
It may not be the Part of Me that Russell Brand could fulfill but it looks like Katy Perry has found someone that can. She’s moved on from shokras and long hair to chiseled features and high fashion. According to Page Six, Katy has began cozying up to Baptiste Giabiconi. Baptiste has been described as Karl Lagerfeld’s muse.
There were rumors circulating that Baptiste was more than just his muse (wink wink, nudge nudge). So, did Katy steal him out of Karl’s arms? That’s highly unlikely – but, Baptiste is considering a move to LA to be a little closer to the blue-haired, candy loving singer. His rep says, “it’s new, they’re feeling it out, but they’re spending a lot of time together.”
The two were recently spotted together taking in Paris Fashion Week accompanied by none other than Karl Lagerfeld. On lookers said they were comfortable with each other and seemed very friendly. In my opinion, definitely an upgrade for Ms. Perry. Check out a few photos of them together below.
A week or 2 ago, Patrick gave us a sneak peek of Katy Perry’s new music video for her single Part Of Me. The preview showed us Katy, dressed as a marine, looking ready to kick some ass and take some names. While I wasn’t sure what to expect from the preview alone, the full video has been released and I absolutely love it.
What feels like a total departure from her cutesy, storyline like videos, Katy goes full-out Marine in her latest clip. Katy shot the video with director Ben Mor at the USMC’s Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California in February. Katy dons traditional marine gear and gets down and dirty with the best of them.
The video starts with Katy seeing her boyfriend mack on another girl at work. After confronting him, she storms out and heads to the gas station (as one does). After seeing an ad for the marines on a cork board, she heads to the bathroom to chop her hair off. She trades in her skinny jeans for army boots and the rest is history.
A couple days ahead of the release of her “Part Of Me” music video, Katy Perry has just released a new track titled “Wide Awake,” and we’ve got your first listen. The verdict on the new track? It’s good! “Wide Awake” is more of the post breakup Katy, as she sings about being wide awake and seeing clearly now who was right in front of her. “Part Of Me” was more upbeat and angry, where as this one is a bit slower and more of a look back at the end of the relationship. Here are the lyrics from the first verse & chorus:
“I’m wide awake. Yeah I was in the dark, I was fallin’ hard. With an open heart (I’m wide awake) How did I read the stars so wrong? (I’m wide awake) And now it’s clear to me, that everything you see, a’int always what it seems (I’m wide awake) Yeah i was dreamin’ for so long. I wish I knew then what I know now – wouldn’t dive in, wouldn’t bow down. Gravity hurts, you made it so sweet. Til I woke up on, on the concrete.”
It’s definitely a great addition to the Teenage Dream collection that comes out on March 26. Give it a listen below!
Taking a break from all of the Madonna buzz, Katy Perry has just released a fierce little teaser for her upcoming music video for her latest single, “Part Of Me“. I already love the song, and now judging from the sneak peek of the video, I’m going to love the video too.
One of the lines in the song says, “Throw your bombs and your blows,” which seems to have inspired the video. With Russell Brand leaving her not too long ago, in my opinion, Katy is sending out a message loud and clear: “Your loss, buddy.”
In the teaser below, we hear the constant sound of marching, as we see flashes of army soldiers, helicopters, guns firing, and we end with a close up of Katy herself staring directly into the camera and ready for battle. The video comes out on March 21, but for now check out the teaser below.
Do you want to get a little bit closer to Katy Perry. This summer, you will have your chance when Paramount Pictures releases the Katy Perry: Part of Me”, a 3D concert movie. Katy will be joining the likes of the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and the cast of Glee who have done the same with their sell-out concert tours. Katy Perry took to Twitter yesterday to release the news to her fans.
“FINALLY, my MOVIE is coming out with Paramount this summer! It’s called “KATY PERRY: PART OF ME” Presented In 3D! KATYCATS-LETS TREND #KP3D.”
Producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz are in negotiations to direct the project with their production company Magical Elves. The duo have worked previously on Project Runway and created the hit Food Network series Top Chef. As it’s many predecessors, the film would take a look at Katy on and off the stage. If she has the same horse shoe as Justin Bieber, the film could gross over $98 million at the box office. Katy chose to name the movie after her newest single Part of Me which she debuted at the Grammys this year. There is much speculation about whether the song is about her recent divorce to ex-husband Russell Brand. Check out what Katy had to say about the lyrics to the song and it’s true meaning below.
On Tuesday, I showed you guys Katy Perry’s revealed cover for her Interview magazine spread and chat with funny woman Kristen Wiig. Now, the full spread shot by Mikael Jansson and styled by Karl Templer is on display along with the super-candid interview with Wiig. Literally, it’s a transcript of their phone call. Once in the informal banter back and forth is complete, Kristen does ask Katy about her career. The first question posed to Perry is what the relationship has been like with her family and friends since becoming famous. Here’s what Katy had to say:
It’s a very strange closeness . . . My whole thing is to agree to disagree and to have respect because nothing can really be changed and you wouldn’t want to ruin their happiness—even if that happiness is ignorance. But as far as the dynamic between us? It has absolutely changed. It’s bound to change with anyone, really . . . Well, not with anyone, because for some people it doesn’t ever change. But eventually our parents get to a certain age where they let go of the reins and they see that you’re responsible, that you’re okay, and maybe they’re finally relieved in some ways. Then they get older, so you take care of them. That’s kind of what I think the responsibility is—even if you’re not successful. But, you know, for me, with my whole thing. . . I think they just see that the dynamic has changed because I’m in a different place. But it’s not like I disrespect them in any way. I mean, I take care of them. But that’s what I’ve always wanted: to have enough that I could make sure that everyone in my family had enough. I grew up not really having anything, so the idea that I can take care of my family and my friends now is a really cool bonus.
Kristen also asks Katy about her humble beginnings, musical influences and more. Check out the photos and more of the interview below.
Over the weekend, a snapshot of Katy Perry looking striking in a black and white photo for Inteview magazine was circulating the social networking sites but no one really knew what was going on. Today, it was officially revealed that Katy would be the mag’s March 2012 cover girl. Along with a hi-res version of the cover shot by Mikael Jansson, the mag released the following statement:
“If you haven’t already heard, Katy Perry is our March covergirl. We’re pretty excited (!), especially as she’s interviewed by one of our favorite comedians, Kristen Wiig. Above is a sneak peek of Katy’s cover, shot by Mikael Jansson and styled by Karl Templer. More to come later in the week…”
An interview with Kristin Wiig? Are you kidding? That sounds amazing! I cannot wait to read that and believe you me, I’ll be posting it on here for all of you to enjoy as well. Check out Katy’s stunning full cover for Interview magazine below.
