At first glance, Homefront looks like your average Jason Statham film. You know what I’m talking about. Insert bad guy. Film a few fight scenes. Add a brooding Statham to the mix. He definitely has a niche. While his films have that typical formula, his latest is much more than that.
What makes Homefront different is the solid crew working in front and behind the cameras. Gary Fleder directs the film, whose previous outstanding work include Don’t Say A Word (Michael Douglas) and Runaway Jury (Rachel Weisz). Adapting the script is none other than Slyvester Stallone. You might laugh but remember, he earned an Oscar writing nomination for Rocky. Joining Statham on screen are Kate Bosworth, Winona Ryder, Mischa Barton, Vincent D’Onofrio and James Franco. If Franco is on board, you know the script isn’t half bad.
Homefront is based on Chuck Logan’s novel of the same name. Statham plays a low level DEA agent who sees his quiet family life turned upside down when his daughter engages in a little playground fight. Turns out the kid she beats up has a father who belongs to a group of drug traffickers lead by Franco. Homefront is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27. Check out the trailer below.
If you’re like me and love a good movie where the female lead or leads find their inner strength and fight back against the “bad guys,” just as Jennifer Lopez does in Enough or Ashley Judd does in Double Jeopardy, then I think you might like this movie.
The first trailer for this new thriller titled The Black Rock has just been released, starring Katie Aselton, Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth. In the movie, the women play three childhood friends that embark on a weekend getaway to the isolated island of Black Rock, a remote island off the coast of Maine. Shortly after they arrive, the girls discover that they are not alone.
Expecting to be the only people on the island, the women are caught off guard when they come across three guys who are on the island to hunt. One of the women recognizes one of the guys as the brother of a guy she went to high school with. After a disturbing incident occurs later that night, what was supposed to be a relaxing and fun little getaway for three friends quickly turns into an absolute nightmare that will propel the women into survival mode and beyond. The film hits theaters on May 17, 2013. Check out the first trailer below!
This movie looks epic and certainly one of a kind. Although it’s not really making fun of other movies, I get a Scary Movie vibe (and not just because Anna Faris is in it) from the type of raunchy comedy and the amount of celebrity cameos. The difference is I’d say that there are some unexpected Academy Award-winning people in this movie ensemble of endless celebrities and it looks jaw-dropping hilarious.
Movie 43 is an upcoming feature film that is composed of 25 short comedy segments. Take a hilarious director, add an amazing cast, mix in some twisted jokes, remove all boundaries, and then stand back… way back. In Movie 43, comedy is served steaming hot (literally) by director Peter Farrelly of The Farrelly Brothers (Something About Mary, Dumb & Dumber) in one of the most shocking, original, and dangerous comedies ever made. Seriously, read the list of people in this movie…
Cast: Naomi Watts, Terrence Howard, Jason Sudeikis, Gerard Butler, Kristen Bell, Chloe Moretz, Josh Duhamel, Kate Winslet, Johnny Knoxville, Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Richard Gere, Anna Faris, Justin Long, Liev Schreiber, Uma Thurman, Seann William Scott, Kieran Culkin, Leslie Bibb, Jimmy Bennett, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Kate Bosworth, Patrick Warburton, Tony Shalhoub, Chris Pratt, Jack McBrayer, Aasif Mandvi, and Bobby Cannavale.
This is definitely not safe for work (NSFW), especially considering in the first scene of the trailer, Anna Faris asks Chris Pratt, “Will you poop on me?” The movie comes out January 25, 2013. Enjoy the trailer below!
Apparently, even with all the collective creative power in Hollywood, the studios can’t come up with original concepts and resist doing remakes. The latest film to get a modern makeover is the 1990 sci-fi classic, “Total Recall“. The original film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger (remember him? LOL) as Douglas Quaid, a freedom fighter from Mars relocated to Earth. He learns later that his life prior to the past two months are all false memories, which includes a fake marriage.
Playing his duplicitous wife is Sharon Stone who’s character was assigned to watch over Quaid by the film’s antagonist Richter (Michael Ironside). The film also featured Rachel Ticotin who played Melina, Quaid’s real freedom fighter girlfriend on Mars. The Paul Verhoeven classic gave us such indelible images as the alien with the three boobs and Arnold’s wicked disguise to get by airport security. Verhoeven went on to direct “Basic Instinct” and “Showgirls” later. Now that you have a bit of a background on the original, find out who’s been cast to take over the iconic roles below.
