Believe it or not, it’s a thing. Variety.com is reporting that an all-female version of The Expendables is underway. Dutch Southern has been tapped to write the script while Adi Shankar (The Grey, Dredd 3D) is producing the film. The female version won’t replace Slyvester Stallone and his motley crew of senior citizen mercenaries, but will serve as a companion film.
Reportedly, a few notable actresses in the action genre have been approached to join the project. No names have been leaked, but Simon West, who directed both Expendables films, told E! News he has his eyes on several Hollywood leading ladies. “I like the idea of the Expenda-Belles where it’s seven or eight women mercenaries,” he said. Oh God, please don’t call them Expenda-Belles. It sounds like something Tyra Banks concocted while writing her novel, Modelland. I digress. Find out who’s on his wish list below.
Back in April, the first trailer for the 2012 remake of ‘Total Recall‘ was released, wetting our appetites for more. Now, the second official movie trailer has debuted and and we now have a much better idea of what to expect. It looks really good!
‘Total Recall’ is an action thriller about reality and memory. As you know Colin Farrell stars as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s former character (a factory worker named Douglas Quaid) who is frustrated with his life and decides to check out “Recall” for a mind-trip that will help him get away from it all. His character has no idea what he’s about to get into. The film also stars Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, and John Cho.
It’s an action packed adventure that I definitely can’t wait to watch. There’s even a three-boobed lady in this one too! I totally remember that from the original. The effects look great, the cast is amazing and you can count me in for this one. Check out the NEW trailer below.
If you “recall”, the 1990 blockbuster, “Total Recall” is being remade and today Sony Pictures released the first teaser trailer! The first official movie trailer comes out this Sunday, so for now this 30-second clip will hold you over.
In this remake, Colin Farrell has taken the role of who Arnold Schwarzenegger played in the original, and also stars Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, and Ethan Hawke. In case you forget the premise of the film, here’s a little reminder: “As the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy, a factory worker (Farrell) begins to suspect that he’s a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he’s on.”
The film hits theatres this August, and like I said, the full trailer comes out this Sunday. Enjoy the teaser below. Are you excited for ‘Total Recall’? Do you think that they’ll have a triple-boobed lady in this version?
On Wednesday night, Patrick and I checked out a preview of Contraband starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale. We both hadn’t really done our research on the film and weren’t 100% sure what we were about to see. I was both shocked and excited once the movie immediately kicked into high gear with a storyline that was easy to follow yet left you on the edge of your seat. Both Patrick and I left the theatre feeling really tense as the movie keeps you on edge the entire time. Here is a synopsis of the film:
Contraband is an action-thriller about a man trying to stay out of a world he worked hard to leave behind and the family he’ll do anything to protect. Set in New Orleans, the film explores the cutthroat underground world of international smuggling – full of desperate criminals and corrupt officials, high-stakes and big payoffs-where loyalty rarely exists and death is one wrong turn away.
Chris Farraday (Wahlberg) long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi), Chris is forced back into doing what he does best-running contraband-to settle Andy’s debt. Chris is a legendary smuggler and quickly assembles a crew with the help of his best friend, Sebastian (Ben Foster), to head to Panama and return with millions in counterfeit bills. Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash. Check out the film’s trailer and my overall rating below.
This Friday, we have two horror/thriller’s going head to head in the box office. Of course there is The September Issue (the real life version of the The Devil Wears Prada), and although Anna Wintour can be a bit of a horror in her own rite, I’m not gonna throw it into the mix the other two films of the same genre. In one corner, we have a group of bitchy valley girls getting slashed “I Know What You Did Last Summer” style. In the other, we have the sexy, sultry Kate Beckinsale off investigating murders in the barren cold darkness of Antarctica.
Tagline: Sisters for Life…and Death
The Plot: A group of sorority girls (including Rumer Willis) pledge to keep mum on the accidental death of one of their sisters (Audrina Patridge); after graduation, however, they find themselves stalked by a serial killer who seems bent on eliminating the Theta Pi girls one by one. Briana Evigan, who plays Cassidy in the film, had a line in her previous theatrical feature, Step Up 2: The Streets (2008), saying “It’s like I’ve landed in an episode of “The Hills”. In Sorority Row (2009), she ironically co-stars alongside “Hills” cast member, Audrina Patridge. The R-rated film was originally supposed to be released on October 2nd, but it got bumped up. This film could be compared to Prom Night (which last year brought in $20.8 million) should bring in the same type of crowd: young women, gore lovers, and guys who like the hot chicks in the film. For anyone on first dates or all those kids that just went back to school, this might be the thing to do this weekend.
Opening weekend prediction: $14 million
